Rolls Gracie should be under Mitsuyo Maeda. Rolls Gracie promoted six men to black belt, including Mauricio Motta Gomes.

Re: What Happened To Computer Literature That Makes You Think And Challenge The Way You Work?

I agree. I don't think it's limited to computer books either. I've noticed in other fields that books that teach you "How to do X with Y" are far too common. I sometimes wonder if it's deliberate - if the reader doesn't learn enough about the why/how of what they're doing, then when Y 2.0 comes out, they need to buy another book so they can learn how to do X again.

Re: The Click Me Challenge

I made ClickMe twitchy:

http://www.myth-games.com/c...

I'm thinking of making it move on mouseover, or adding a time limit.

The code isn't tidy - today I have two reviews to write, some proofing to do, and some articles to finish, but when I saw this post I couldn't stop thinking of ways to change the game so I had to do *something* :)

Re: [Closed] Set our competition… Win a Nokia 5310!

How about an AudioBoo competition? Entrants have to record an AudioBoo of the conversation they'd have if they could talk to the phone they want to win.

Re: Maps, journeys, and adventures

Thanks for this. I'm so used to reading manuals and help files that I often think in a "Just show me the syntax, darn it!" fashion, and then wonder why people less techie get frustrated halfway through me showing them something.

It's sometimes hard to remember that other people won't be as excited about the elegance of the code, when all they want to do is get something to work.
