Drowning is actually the #1 cause of death for children. Mostly because drowning isn't like it is in the movies so even attentive adults don't recognize the patterns. It's actually a very quiet death so it's not noticed until it's too late. Could not agree with this post more. It affects our community every year despite "safe" pools and lifeguards galore. A nightmare.

Was just discussing this with my CTO! This is such a well-rounded post and I like how Kathryn has broken out the response by who's asking. I have also found value in answering based on a shared passion/interest, like "Thanks, things are going well! We just launched an entire, affordable offering for small businesses + entrepreneurs, which as an angel investor, I'm sure you can appreciate!" Found that this approach almost always leads to the next question/offer to help without putting them on the spot.

This is amazing. GO KATHRYN, you are a hero. As a fellow women in tech, when we started Red Stamp, the comments I heard from male "experts" in technology and some VCs are very similar to what Kathryn describes. Nothing short of pats on the head until they saw how this sweet little business is fueled by a cutting edge, robust, data-driven end-to-end publishing platform.

With women making up over 50% of the consuming public, opinions and biases need to change. Thank you for helping make that happen, Kathryn.
