Well, I'm sure Evan scored higher on other elements like artistry and spins. Evgeni wasn't flawless by a long shot but still ... I don't know. I think maybe he should've scored a little higher in his SP, considering the landed the quad and other jumps much more cleanly (and overall I feel he skated his SP better than his free). There's no end to arguing who should've won by parties on other side of the debate, but I do feel that his comments about needing to move men's figure skating forward are valid. Evan even admitted himself he didn't attempt the quad because it was "scary". His performance proved you can still win a gold medal without it, and that marks can be made up from other elements. Which makes perfect sense, since scoring isn't purely based on jumps. I read some of the comments Evgeni made after the result and I feel like some of them are pretty hard to defend as his fan. I kinda wish he was just happier with how he performed and more complimentary towards Evan but naturally he's upset that he felt he skated well and should've won gold, particularly with the weight of the quad's difficulty in his mind being much more important than anything else.

I've only seen the BBC six part series with Colin Firth and this one. I think both have their merits but I have to admit that I really love this movie. Something about Joe Wright's direction, the gorgeous cinematography, the spirited and expressive performances, and I think the sort of fresh interpretation. The BBC version was very faithful to the novel but the way this film handled things was more modern and yet still undeniably romantic. I've gone a tad crazy with the screencaps but I don't care, I'm determined to post them all eventually in bouts :P

Haha, I guess the point is that some people are willing to pay the extra for the studs because they can't be bothered to DIY or they don't think they would be able to do it as well. Who knows...fashion is totally senseless most of the time.
