Trung Nguyên (the largest domestic coffee producer in Vietnam) have been selling the same kind of thing for years under the name of "Sang Tao 8" (formerly known as "Legendee Gold"). Very different to your usual coffee, but pretty good indeed.

They say: "Sang Tao 8 is produced by an enzyme treatment process developed exclusively by Trung Nguyên that mimics the changes produced in the coffee beans by the civet and produces a coffee every bit as distinctive and good as the genuine article but at about a tenth of the price (and, fortunately, without any involvement from the weasels!" --http://www.trung-nguyen-onl...

Re:

For me "The Gap" is still pretty much the most impeccably constructed anti-pop LP I've ever heard. It's a masterpiece of excess, obsession and restraint. I think if you had an affinity towards the 'avant garde' spectrum back in the day, then yes, JoA will certainly stand the test of time for you. If you preferred the 'pure emo pop' sounds of STD or tGUK, then probably not. Just pointing out that the average person today has far more camera-time under their belt than 10 or 20 years ago. Meaning that everyone, not just "photographers", are better versed in photography today than they were 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 years ago. This maturation has only accelerated since the ubiquity of the Internet competent snapping smartphones. So whilst, unskilled journalists may not take great photos, I'd be willing to bet they are probably far more capable and experienced snappers than the journalists of yesteryear. #DevilsAdvocate

Re: Oggl: another assault on Fortress Instagram

Hah! It's not your apology to give. I love seeing photos in my Twitter feed. For me, on the outside as a non-Instagrammer, the day Instagram died was the day Twitter shut down the cards. If I was an Instagrammer today, I'd tweet my photos on Twitter in parallel to Instagram. But personally I'm more interested in Twitter than any other social photo-only service.

Re: Oggl: another assault on Fortress Instagram

From what I've observed, people don't really care for moving to another new platform when something like Instagram isn't really broken - in that they don't put much value against their photos other than sentimental... And it's a verb...

In time most will trickle across to the next bleeding edge to mainline. But for now, while the dust keeps getting scoffed, I'm still seeing (or not thanks to Twitter banning Instagram previews) LOADS of Instagram photos in my Twitter feed.

Re: Adobe CC, why you cost more in the EU?

Yeah, it's a bit moronic. The company I work for has managed to get a subscription price of £22.50 per month. But if I, as a freelancer, want to subscribe it'll cost me £50 per month. But this sort of thing -- public outrage at misunderstanding the legalese -- happens time and time again, and time and time again it turns out to be completely benign.

Web service ToS is notorious for lawyer speak, not clarity to the everyman. Try and see this objectively, despite the vocal uproar. Then wait it out a couple days to see what official explanations are given - then act accordingly or make a big stink about it

Re: How-To Download Your Instagram Photos and Kill Your Account

I suspect people are just over-reacting to the change in the terms of service.... They would've done well to clarify (with examples) what they meant by this paragraph:

"Some or all of the Service may be supported by advertising revenue. To help us deliver interesting paid or sponsored content or promotions, you agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos (along with any associated metadata), and/or actions you take, in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you."

But I'm pretty sure they're not going to 'sell your photos' in the way that everyone is thinking, but rather that they're giving advertisers licence to use your Instagram stuff WITHIN Instagram for paid or sponsored content. Not for a photo book, nor for a billboard...

Re: How-To Download Your Instagram Photos and Kill Your Account

You want to disable "Location Settings" on a Maps app? Do NOT convert FLAC into MP3. FLAC is a lossless format which contains the exact same audio data as the original source (CD, etc). An MP3 on the other hand is a lossy format which 'throws away' the extra information it *thinks* you can't hear to save space. Rather convert to Apple's own Apple Lossless format. iTunes supports it and you won't be losing any audio quality.

Re: http://timferguson.tumblr.com/post/33636465759

Testin out commenting on my own blog...

Re: Linus Torvalds Compares Hard Disks to Satan

I read the article. Apparently you didn't read the one I linked to though. The point was not the rate of failure, but rather the recoverability. If a HDD fails, you have a fair chance at recovering some, if not all, the data. When a SSD fails on the other hand, your data is usually irrecoverable.

(This happened to one of my laptops at work - lost the entire contents of the drive. Fortunately all my current projects were based in a DropBox folder, and all archived work had been backed up).

Naturally this won't apply to data centers anyway, since they always run some for of redundancy or another. But for a home user running an SSD on their laptop it can range from inconvenient (assuming they have some form of backup in place) to 'catastrophic' (no backup).

Re: Linus Torvalds Compares Hard Disks to Satan

Be ye warned thought - in the wise words of El Reg: "If an SSD goes glitchy, the data vanishes up its own arse in an instant, completely & irretrievably" -- http://timpho.to/PrHi21

Re: THE HAHA MAG ART CONNECT

Very cool.
