Good article, but I think streaming services is what has to be added to this discussion. I didn't grow up in the digital age, though Napster did happen in my college years, instead buying CDs which now sit in a box in my basement. At this point in my life, I basically refuse to buy another physical CD, and buying a digital album doesn't interest me either. So I pay for Rdio. I will happily pay $10/mo for legal access to nearly everything I want to listen to.

That $120/yr that I spend now is more than I've spend on music in years. But it's not going to put food on the table for the artists I'm listening to. That sucks, but this is where we are heading, and so I think it's the artists that are going to have to continue to find new methods for making money. As a consumer, I agree that we should be paying for what we listen to, but buying an album for $10 just isn't in the cards anymore for a growing number of us.

I was a little disappointed with the views from the bottom of the hike, but I love that area so very much. It's the best way to see Wisconsin.

I nearly gave up on the way back up, but powered through. Hiking with a kid on your back was not easy at all. And I'm fat (but athletic).

I slightly disagree with the "loss for the city" comment, but that's just because I haven't gone to the Minneapolis FM in ~10 years, because I'm not really interested in going downtown. So it's not like I'm choosing the smaller Midtown Market over the Minneapolis one. I'm choosing Midtown over just getting my veggies from the Co-op, or our CSA (we do every other week deliveries just so we can also support the farmers market community.
