That is only applicable if you unlocked your bootloader via the official site. There are methods that still allow you to update via SEUS/PC Companion and update via your phone with no risk at all

so basically unlocking your phone from rogers canada, just like we did with x10 and flashing it with a generic american version just like we did with the x10 will kill our chances of having SEUS updates?  or is unlocking a boat loader is something different?  i am confused, if someone can explain it to me!  bc with the x10 it was always able to update from SEUS after all that flashing.  

If you flash it to a generic version than you are good with no problems. The case here is with people who unlock their phones and install custom roms. Roms that people made and modified by themselves. But in your case  you already installed an approved firmware from S/E so you should be fine, and you won't face any problems what so ever.

the way i thought about it, It did not make sense that i was able to update x10, and following the same procedure on the ARC, i was not able to be problem free... you totally explained it to me!  i am worried no more :) thank you 

Unlocking means, that you can boot real custom roms with complete different kernels than the SE kernel....
on your X10 custom roms are build around the stock kernel or it is bypassed...

if you unlock the bootloader to load all linux kernels SEUS will stop wirking.... also the support tool EMMA blocks any repair updates at the moment...

the only way now is to use the flash tool from XDA devs...

BTW: generic UK is also updated since today and will be added to my Firmware list in evening

For all people in german speaking countrys and for generic world and UK i made an complete collection of all firmware verisons. Generic and Vendor branded versions....

i am in contact to somebody with access to EMMA and we will update every version as soon as it will be released.

DO NOT ASK for firmware versions in other countries than DE, AT and CH because this os only a german smartphone forum....  

we are 7 friends that are waiting for the North american generic updated firmware :) you are doing an excellent job though :) 

hmm ok i will think about to add the US version also... but i will get it although only if it gets released official....
