This is an unbelievable statement or Allen West simply didn't notice that people were afraid of him. My son had two loving white parents and was raised in a comfortable suburban neighborhood. He is also half black. On more than several occasions when meeting a friend on his bike in their neighborhood or driving home from work, he was stopped solely for being not the right color. This is the reality of living in suburbia and being of color. No everything that happens isn't about race but there is plenty of racism on both sides of the coin to go around and to pretend that isn't so is just sticking your head in the sand.

Sorry, Mom, but you are wrong. Yes, there is racism in this country, but most people are not afraid every black or biracial person they see on the street. People are not afraid of Allen West because he does not exhibit anti white, nor threatening behavior.

When a 9 year old child is riding his bike in front of friends house waiting for him to come home and the neighbors call the police, this is solely based on race. When your 16 year old child is driving home from work and is pulled over as the police are looking for a robber who is 5'6" dark skinned black man over 30 and you are a 6', light skinned black who is 16 and they continue to search your car and take everything out and leave you to put it all back even though you are wearing the work clothes from the job you just came from, this is solely based on race. If you have not lived it you cannot judge it. These are only a few examples although there are many more. Don't judge what you haven't experienced.

I am sorry this happened to your son, but it does not happen to every black person in this country, and people are not afraid of Allen West, nor were they afraid of him when he was young because he did not exhibit threatening behavior, and was respectful of all people regardless of color. There are racists everywhere, but we are not all racists. You are not looking at this objectively. You are looking at it with biased eyes.
