Well maybe your members and leadership should have researched Obamacare more closely instead of joining in with democrats and other unions in republican bashing. Republicans were shouting from the roof tops about how bad Obamacare will be for Americans, The economy and our freedoms. But Noooooo republicans don't know what they were talking about, We were just hating on the chosen one which is Obama. Now you can enjoy the misery like the rest of us. Don't feel bad though because as the months pass more and more buyers remorse will be made known but now it's to late because Obama won his 2nd term and now has nothing to lose.

You guys didn't read the Union statement, did you? Cause in it is a clause that would cause most of you to GASP.

The union is complaining that they "used to rely on welfare" to cover their members - and now are crying that they have to get off of welfare and get on with their own personal responsibility.

Well union, cry me a river.

Here is what conservative principles says: everyone should get off of welfare, everyone buy their own health insurance. If you don't have one, die. That was your choice.

Most of you here are getting corporate welfare, that is, you are getting a company to buy a good portion of your insurance. If companies did the conservative thing they should just tell you to (a) get your own insurance, and (b) work for the same pay as a worker in China.

Many of you will agree that is what conservative principles say. More of you will want that part of reality - that you have it easy cause you get insurance - to not be part of this conversation at all.

Erin M. • 11 years ago

Please note that there is no mention of national welfare programs in the statement. He is referring to the union's insurance program, which is known as a "multi-employer health and welfare plan." It has nothing to do with our nation's welfare program.

Guest • 11 years ago

Get off your ill informed soap box. If you truly understood conservative principles, you'd also know that we would adore a free market based solution and reform to the current health care system. The pre-Obamacare system that is.
Corporate welfare? Companies began offering health insurance as a benefits package to attract and retain quality employees. That was a free market solution to being competitive for good talent. That is NOT corporate welfare, but it does expose you as an abusive, leftist, fact twister. One who didn't get the full meaning of the union's statement as Erin M. clarified for you.

Why is it that leftists need the rest of us to explain so darn much to them? Each and every time you guys post you magnify the lack of personal responsibility and critical thinking skills that typifies blind allegiance (oh? can I say that?) to a party that believes that you are incapable of looking after yourself?

Maybe they should have done more research on the bill as well as Obama before backing both.

LOL----Roofers & Tweeters, Unite!

Guest • 11 years ago

Really?

Where is that happening?

I hadn't seen anything in the local rag about that...

The roofers trusted the government. Ooops.

# 1 Researched Obama before 2008.# 2 The Obama care needed to be past so Pelosi and her entourage could get to know what was in it

With the new FDA regulations that track farm-to-market, we now know more about our ground meat then we do about our president...

Guest • 11 years ago

Sad, but true

Guest • 11 years ago

Maybe they should have just read the bill first! Instead of passing it to find out what was in it.

AddisonDewitt • 11 years ago

Oh my..didn't all the Unions get a waiver from on high from the Emperor ? The Unions really don't care if anyone else is scr(wed with Obamacare but when it effects their members they cry foul. And the " unintended consequences " ? They were intended. Its Obamacare's eventual goal to break private coverage and then full institution of single party payer system GOVERNMENT healthcare will be the only choice for all---except of course the politicians and the rich-who will always be able to afford the best. You have been had Union chumps...

loshombre • 11 years ago

Whowodathunkit? As long as it was the public getting the shaft it was all hunky dorry. Now that the unions are finding that they're gettin' it too, it just ain't funny anymore. I'm tryin' to work up some sympathy, I really am, but it jest ain't workin.'

beebop1952 • 11 years ago

Family member is a teacher. She didn't fully realize that the "waivers" have expiration dates and that her plan is considered a "cadillac" plan which will be taxed to death. It was everything I could do to keep a straight face when she whined!

delta • 11 years ago

Couldn't you just weep for her pain?

Guest • 11 years ago

If they truly 'got it' and came around to the truth, I would so eat my 'I told you so' words. I'd swallow hard and hug them as they came around to recognizing the truth. Unfortunately, these fools find a way to twist it and it's still impossible for them to see the fallacy of their whole union/socialist/leftist ideology.

Guest • 11 years ago

I warned my Teamster cousin about the expiration dates, and he got mad at me. So I dropped it. Guess he knows by now.

Trixie • 11 years ago

The insurers will be taxed but probably not be allowed to pass the entire buck onto the insured. Therefore, they will do the only other thing they can: reduce benefits. No more Cadillac plans.

beebop1952 • 11 years ago

Okay. So your belief is that the insurers will be taxed for providing market driven needs to their customers? If that is the case (and I don't think it is), what benefit does union membership provide?

Trixie • 11 years ago

According to what I've read, plans that cost more than something like $12,500/year will be considered a Cadillac plan (regardless of what it covers). The insurers will be taxed for Cadillac plans. Premium increases will have to be ok'd by gov't. If the increases in premiums are denied, what recourse do insurers have but to reduce benefits. I don't know the benefits of union membership. They take your dues, distribute it to democrats ostensibly for work in their respective fields, perhaps give you free representation if you're hurt on the job, what else?

beebop1952 • 11 years ago

Thank you for your clarification.

I've given up on attempting to sympathize - the giggles always gave it away!
I'm throwing a huge "HA HA the Unions got Screwed too" party and you're invited! Got any firecrackers?

John graham • 11 years ago

therein lies the problem with liberalism.....we are all "somebody else" to somebody else.....they are too stupid to figure that out......if we all point our fingers at everyone else, it means somebody is pointing theirs at you.....oooooops

Guest • 11 years ago

Yeah, it was very short sighted of them.

'Slowplayed Jones • 11 years ago

somebody's going to get an exemption to ACA and it's not the American people, it will be this union. Then they will say it is okay and they misspoke.

Margo • 11 years ago

The Muslims are also EXEMPT!!!

Guest • 11 years ago

The exemptions alone aren't the issue. The issues are that the damned law destroys the current system as we know it.

ELCIDjmudog • 11 years ago

Those darn right wing unions.

CWO3USNRET • 11 years ago

Ain't it a hot when the union whizzes on Our Dear Leader President MANDATES leg and tell him it's raining. I bet they are still donating money to him and the dems.

Sonny Farmer • 11 years ago

I'm in a different union and we are still in negotiations. My union rep told me that as of now, my insurance would jump from $16/wk to around $160/wk thanks to Obama Care.

AddisonDewitt • 11 years ago

...all the illegals thank you...they WILL be covered

mkegino • 11 years ago

Including the second, third, and unborn generations.

delta • 11 years ago

All supported by American taxpayers as usual.

Michael Shreve • 11 years ago

Gettin' what you pay for from the Union ain't ya'

George Dixon • 11 years ago

The enormous number of waivers alone should tell anyone that ObamaCare is a political rather than a medical plan.

As to the Roofers and the rest who supported ObamaCare.....you totally deserve every bit of pain it brings you.

(PS: The Obama Immigration Plan will legalize more than enough "immigrants" to put your Union and its workers out of a job...or lower your wages at the least.....LOL)

Guest • 11 years ago

I am fairly sure they will get a waiver, as many other unions & companies have. So,. of course, others will have to pick up the slack.

havadrink • 11 years ago

LOL !!!
Shout it from the roof tops !
Join us "racists".

Diggsc • 11 years ago

Long after Obama is out of office and enjoying his $500k+ speaking honorariums, we will still be stuck with the crap called Obamacare, partly thanks to the morons who run the roofer's unions. I think Obamacare should be repealed for everyone EXCEPT those who gave it such strong support, including the Senators and House Members who voted for it.

ojfl • 11 years ago

So it begins. The Obamacare support coalition crumbles. And it seems it will crumble faster than we thought it would. So it seems the GOP was right when they said in 2010 that they would repeal the law. I still want to see a replacement though but repeal seems necessary and more desired than ever.

AddisonDewitt • 11 years ago

repeal will never happen --they all should have thought of that when they re-elected this destroyer

Margo • 11 years ago

Voter Fraud is what re-elected the Chosen One!!

delta • 11 years ago

Yeah, that and racist low-IQ voters who vote by color.

ojfl • 11 years ago

Yes it will be extremely hard Addison but not impossible. If Democrats get enough pressure from constituents they may get out of the way. Then the president stands alone in support of it. If Democrats do not go along with their constituents, they do so at their own peril.
