It doesn't bother the Democrats that ObamaCare spending has inflated by $2,000,000,000,000 (TWO TRILLION DOLLARS) since it was passed by Congress and signed by President Barack Hussein Obama. That one fact tells you everything you need to know about them, Ted Cruz is willing to sacrifice his career in order to stop ObamaCare and prevent this monstrosity from damaging the country, That tells you everything you need to know about him.

THEY ARE NOT BANANA REPUBLICANS.

It is a cute and funny play on words.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT BANANAS.

This is about Fifth columnists in the Spanish Civil War, 1936 style. They are the ones inside Madrid that will arise and destroy while an attack is going on outside by Nationalists.

This is done with subversion, overwhelming the majority, and without regard to the outcome of the action. It is noted in history and entails sedition and disloyalty.

We had a good demonstration of that this week. What General Emilla Molla did then, Senator Ted Cruz did now.

Both Spanish names. A Tea Party Conspiracy theory would be made of this if it was done against them.

The Party may be Banana Republicans, but....

THE TEA PARTY ARE A FIFTH COLUMN.

Brent • 10 years ago

I see Harry Reid is talking about Banana Republicans. Good.

Charles Scruffy • 10 years ago

What totally unbiased reporting..You are the reason why there partisan politics is all the rage now...Out of your writing it is the terrible Repubs and the poor defenseless dems have to deal with them.. Did you forget that the Dems control TWO out of THREE leg.. branches of the government... Your are the one out of touch with most Americans..

Written like a true statist Hack. Bet you support less freedom, higher taxes and even bigger government Mr butinsky. Nothing like an old Alinskyite to drive home an un American diatribe,

It takes more than one party to make a banana republic, Mr. Butowksy.

Republicans are reactionary authoritarians they are not capable of reason. They need to be put on a collective time out until the adults take back over.

Richard Vandiamondsworth • 10 years ago

"Collective" timeout? Even when trying to be snarky, all you reds think about is collectivism. WINK F--KING WINK.

ggm281 • 10 years ago

Yep the man who had a sexual relationship with an underling - an unpaid intern no less - is the American ideal of "serious leader". Of course if the same relationship had occurred between a commanding officer and an enlisted woman, it would cause a shit storm in today's political climate. In fact it just did cause an officer to lose his job, and the woman in question was not even his subordinate. And in most businesses in the country the executive taking advantage of a young and tipsy unpaid intern would result in the executive's firing if it was found out. It is odd to me how situational some people's ethics are.

Brent • 10 years ago

Actually Ben dude, in recent columns I found ways to praise McCain (who I often praise), Boehner and Cantor (on Syria).
Name Republican columnists who praise high level Democrats the way I praised McCain, Boehner and Cantor
in recent weeks. Repubs need to pay more to hire a higher calibre paid commenter, LOL. You guys couldn't even persuade yourself, let alone anyone else. You guys are like
Ted Cruz. First he tells Republicans to pass a bill. Then he filibusters the bill he told them to pass. Then he votes against his own filibuster. The ultimate Banana Republican!

Brent • 10 years ago

Speaking of Banana Republicans, don't miss the big new climate change report. I will never understand climate change deniers, except those paid by oil or chemical companies to attack science and facts.

notyetagm • 10 years ago

Indeed, the modern GOP is a cancer on our society. It needs to be removed before it kills.

BenH • 10 years ago

Budowsky, you are a HACK. How can The Hill pay you for a different article every day saying the exact same thing you said the day before, i.e., the Dems now have a "powerful weapon" against the Repubs, and that Sen Cruz' speech was a bust. REALLY??? The only "powerful weapon" the Dems have is their MOUTH (and IT is full of LIES). It's CLEAR that the Cruz speech was a resounding success. Congress actually had to take their usually unanswered phones off the hook and actually clear their mailboxes for a change. They now realize what the word "CONSTITUENT" means. Instead of rooting for the Dems every day (WITH THE EXACT SAME MESSAGE), try to find something NEW to regale your feckless followers with. I certainly won't read your warmed-over column any more.

brent • 10 years ago

check out my pundit blog later in the day Fri. about banana
republic bankers who are jacking up fees and interest rates
Christmas week 2013. Lets see if Banana Republicans will
oppose the fees from the banana republic bankers. I dare
you.

Guest • 10 years ago

yes but the answer to capitalist bankers who violate ethics or legal rules should be to hold them accountable.

Why Brent do you want to use such events as reasons to convert the USA into a communist atheist state? this is exactly what you opine for.

you claim that laws do not work, there is no real truth in the world, or if there were? nobody would know for sure so we cannot trust religion and therefore we must rely upon intellectual liberals to devise ways to protect mankind from himself, thru Darwinian atheist communism imposed as absolute law.

HappyG • 10 years ago

Brent, your days as a paid contributor surely are nearly over...Why can I picture you drooling as you wrote this drivel? How many more must die for your dream of Hillary in the Oval Office? Do you even have a moral compass?

Brent • 10 years ago

Banana Republicans were clobbered by Obama in 2008 and clobbered by Obama in 2012. They are poised to be clobbered by Hillary Clinton in 2016 for what could be another
two term Clinton presidency. There is something delusional about these anger management cases---resulting in politically
extreme actions----resulting in their being clobbered again.
Anyone who believes Republicans win by endlessly threatening to shut down the government or trigger a U.S. default is living in a dream world destined for disaster. Don't blame me. Blame the American people who vote.

BenH • 10 years ago

HAHA! Here's the LATEST from Whistleblower Larry Nichols

QUOTE: "They [the Clintons} sent me to kill people for them and told me it was for 'the good of the Country'. So when they asked me to do it for them in the States it felt no different. The real truth is I did it for the money and I didn't give a shit about the women I beat and the men I murdered. The Clintons are bad people and i did bad things for them. I had to live with that all of these years and now I just don't care anymore who knows it."

Larry maintains the Clintons were into so many illegal activities at the time, they had to have a team of mercenaries made up of friends and state- troopers to cover it all up. According to Larry Nichols, both Bill and Hillary were out of control and both were relentless in their pursuit for money and power. From running drugs, to the rape and beating of women, both of the Clintons are guilty of these unspeakable crimes.

What do you call the Clintons & Obama/Jarrett? The murdering, drug-running, gun-running, Benghazi-guns to Al CIA da, Fast & Furious Dems??

CincinnatiMike • 10 years ago

And I call "them" Demonicrats,Obamanations, Dumbocrats, Clintonistas, and on and on. See how easy it is to substitute name calling for any kind of real working economic, foreign or social policy. Gosh I see now why Obama-wanna-spendalot (see how I did that) prefers name calling and golf to actual work.

Brent • 10 years ago

Tea party popularity at all time low, see Gallup. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have higher favorables. Too many Banana Republicans give American voters indigestion :).

BenH • 10 years ago

Seems these IDIOT dems ONLY worry about the Tea Party and NOT their comrades in arms the GOP. And the Tea Party certainly never wanted to be POPULAR with the spend, spend, spend, and spend some more Dems. They are VERY popular on the "opposite" side from you though.

Roger Lindsley • 10 years ago

Extortion cannot be appeased. Banana Republicans Indeed!

Rene Demonteverde • 10 years ago

Watch the Banana Republicans coalesce around Sen Cruz. Watch the Banana Republicans rejuvenate the grassroots of the party and the tidal wave come 2014 probably 2016 {depending on the candidate}. But most of all watch as the Banana Republicans put conservatism back in the country`s political arena.

I guess that many posters on this Web page believe that when voting in presidential elections, choosing between Democrats and Republicans/GOP, they believe that voting for the Republicans not as the "lesser of two evils." No, they believe that voting for Democrats is the only true evil.

the insistence of someone you disagree with be stricken from having an opinion is a malevolent attribute typical of the worst tyrants in history.

the person posting can make an argument that democrats, by virtue of rejecting the bible, rejecting Christianity and hating God in general, tend to be the more evil group of people compared with republicans who tend to be Christian.

Ted Cruz is doing exactly what his constituents want him to do. There's going to be some housecleaning in the Republican Party. RINO's beware.
And I find it interesting that you can tell who the Democrats are afraid of by the tone of their rantings and ravings. To hear them speak about Cruz, they must be quaking in their boots right about now. When Democrats don't worry about somebody, they pretty much ignore him. But when Democrats are worried about somebody, they try to tear him apart with personal attacks. Democrats are right to be worried and scared of Ted Cruz - he's a conservative who can tear Democrats apart in debate. Witness how he shredded Durbin during his speech (and how he was nice, but pointed, to Kaine).

chicodon • 10 years ago

This purely a family matter and the libs, as usual, think it's about them.

CincinnatiMike • 10 years ago

Agreed - I still remember the pure and unadulterated hatred with which Democrats and hollyweird attacked Reagan back in the day. And who could forget the viscousness of the personal attacks on Bush 1 or Bill's groupies. But a new low in public discourse came at the hands of Obama's and his psychophants in the press' hands, with their relentless baseless attacks on Bush 2, the Republicans, the Tea Party and Romney and just about anyone else who was a handy, defensless target. And the Republicans just stand there and take it. Like world class chumps. The real problem is not Republican obstructionism - that ability was built into the Constitution to prevent megalomaniacs like Obama from abusing power - the real problem is that the Democrats are addicted to credit and the Republicans in Washington won't unload on Obama and his fellow travellors and prevent more of his national destruction.

Hyperbole Much? • 10 years ago

oh ffs ... you really believe that drivel?

thats the biggest self serving whinefest I have heard in years ...

ohh the poor poor defenseless republicans that tanked the economy, allowed the biggest attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor, killed thousands and thousands of our troops in a BS war, let a major american city drown and are now threatening to cause an unprecedented meltdown of the financial markets (AGAIN!) because they insist on denying health insurance to millions are so blameless

and you have the balls to calls Obama a meglomaniac ?

Your seriously deluded

CincinnatiMike • 10 years ago

Good Lord - either you are the biggest kool-aid addict I've ever met, or you're not as stupid as you sound and you're just one of the useful idiots that brought us this ruin.
