“So it’s under oath — big deal,”

"... after all, I took an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution, and instead I've decided to uphold and protect the Republican Party and its corporate sponsors."

NCSteve • 11 years ago

Never heard him say that when he was touting testimony of witnesses in a death penalty case.

DoremusJessup20 • 11 years ago

I wonder if Scalia thinks proof of citizenship would be an undue burden to purchase a gun?

buyblue • 11 years ago

Nino can run the question by Dark Cheney next time they go duck hunting.

Guest • 11 years ago

On the bright side, maybe Cheney will get lucky.

David MacArthur • 11 years ago

superb observation, Doremus.

Guest • 11 years ago

Good one!!!

George C • 11 years ago

That's a rhetorical question, right?

Guest • 11 years ago

Maybe showing a gun should be considered proof of citizenship.

Guest • 11 years ago

Perfection personified.

Scotty Starnes • 11 years ago

Have to pass a background check in order to buy a gun from a FFL licensed dealer. Have to show ID and prove you are who you say you are.

Patricia Stidham-Burns • 11 years ago

Not at a gun show. They will sale a gun to anybody!

Guest • 11 years ago

The topic is not about buying a gun, it's about keeping illegal votes out of the voting booth. I know you leftists need those undocumented illegal people to vote for your leftist pals so you can win elections. You couldn't do it legally so you take the illegal path to destroy the country.

Anthony Dewitt • 11 years ago

f44k you fascist loser

Guest • 11 years ago

Your ignorance is showing. Thanks for putting it on display for all of us to see. You're the reason this country is in the mess that it is.

Guest • 11 years ago

Not without filling out the proper forms and not a handgun. No license handgun dealer will just sell you a handgun without having the proper documentation. What gun show do you shop at, I'd like to inform the authorities that you are buying unregistered hand guns?

Anthony Dewitt • 11 years ago

in oregon and most other states you can

Mr.Conservative • 11 years ago

Not true I purchased one of my guns at a gun show and I had to have a permit which includes a criminal back ground check. Now maybe ( mermaiden ) the idiot that likes to call people "LIARS" will call me a liar.

Anthony Dewitt • 11 years ago

bulls%%t again

DoremusJessup20 • 11 years ago

A drivers license is sufficient to buy a gun.

Scotty Starnes • 11 years ago

No without a permit from your local sheriff's office. Try to buy a firearm with a driver's license and you will get laughed out of the store.

DoremusJessup20 • 11 years ago

Dude, I can walk into any Walmart with a drivers license and cash money and buy a gun. I don't need anything from the local sheriff's office to do it. You seem to be quite confused about the law.

Mr.Conservative • 11 years ago

You can walk in to Wal Mart and buy a long gun with a license and a "FBI" back ground check. But to buy a hand gun you will have to have a permit from your local sheriff's office.

DoremusJessup20 • 11 years ago

No you don't, not even in California. You're confusing right to purchase with CCW requirements.

Edit: I stand corrected, 14 states require a permit to purchase a handgun but ironically none require a permit to purchase an assault rifle. It would be beneficial if state laws were consistent. For example a permit to purchase is required in Illinois but you don't even have to show proof of residency to buy a gun in Indiana.

Guest • 11 years ago

He's not confused at all. He's a LIAR. Thanks for the post.

Guest • 11 years ago

You bought into Dormemus's lie. Good for you half thinkers and blind followers. My guess is a co2 pistol and a Paint Ball Gun is considered a handgun to you uninformed thinkers.

Guest • 11 years ago

Not so, you have to fill out a federal form required by law and you can't buy a handgun. A shotgun, maybe and Biden says that's OK. Mixing words is as much as a lie. You can't buy a handgun at Walmart, they don't sell handguns.

DoremusJessup20 • 11 years ago

Fine, if you insist on being pedantic (most gun aficionados are) In 36 states I can walk into any Walmart store that sells guns and fill out a NICS form 4473, show a driver's license and purchase a handgun, shotgun or rifle.

SLBinVA • 11 years ago

Depends on the state. I'm all but certain that in Virginia, a driver's license would be sufficient ID. Virginia does not require any permit to purchase a gun, and state law pretty much preempts localities from adopting tighter restrictions than are called for in state law.

And that assumes that you buy from a licensed dealer. That's not required, either, you know.

Guest • 11 years ago

Thank you so much for this. I am sick and tired of these sly liars who post a short lie, trying to pass it off as a fact. Getting to the point where i can't stand these people.

Anthony Dewitt • 11 years ago

since when and in what state?? i call bull$$it

Phil Ryan • 11 years ago

Dore, that would presuppose there is any consistency in what Scalia proposes. Scalia works from the premise "How can I please my corporate masters and tea party backers?" And then proceeds to put it into legalese. Scalia is no more of a jurist than a transient on the street. What he is is a blowhard Republican lobbyist. Period.

Smokestack Lightning • 11 years ago

Yeah, but those guys probably deserved it! I mean, if they hadn't done something, they wouldn't have been caught and tried, right?

Orestes Ippeau • 11 years ago

True, but that's all in the interests of resolving the Great Conundrum: the state wants to put down a stray black puppy on the strength of a jury buying into the single sniff testimony of a licensed white poodle, while at all his lodge meetings he keeps hearing the grand vizier and licensed white poodles yapping about how there's so many stray puppies out there in the first place, their servants might start having trouble picking up all the stray puppy poop. Surely Scalia is entitled to think that all that yapping is fairly representative of licensed Poodlamerica.

isaac • 11 years ago

I'd guess Scalia probably doesn't think it's necessary for people to vote in presidential elections--not when we have a Supreme Court to just install the one they want. Scalia was there the only time it's ever been done, and that turned out just swell, didn't it?

Smokestack Lightning • 11 years ago

*Shudder*

One of the reasons I believe HE IS CORRUPT TO THE CORE. Thanks for mentioning that.

AlphaDad • 11 years ago

Touché!

Jackster • 11 years ago

Beat me to it! Like his oath to be impartial?

go2goal • 11 years ago

That's what Clinton thought....he was impeached for lying under oath.

Give it try....perjury is what you probably deserve.

Scotty Starnes • 11 years ago

Go to OpenSecets and educate yourself to what party is beholden to corporations and what candidate they helped to elect the past 2 election cycles. Hint: Obama.

DelrayDame • 11 years ago

Oh please. You are pathetic.

Corporate whores=Obama and Democrats.

This information is from FEC records. Guess the truth hurts.

Get back to me, you pathetic low-information drone.

DelrayDame • 11 years ago

I don't bother with right-wing claptrap. Get thee back to Breitbart b.s. you iggit.

Guest • 11 years ago

Awesome.

Mr.Conservative • 11 years ago

It's so nice of you to let us know you only listen lying left-wing liberals BS. Now go back and drink somemore "OBAMA-AID" you iggit.

DelrayDame • 11 years ago

Not listening to far-right bilge and lies doesn't restrict one from keeping up with Republican politicians and policies. Just don't care about the opinions of reactionaries like you and your demented brethren.

Scotty Starnes • 11 years ago

Another left-wing low-information dolt who refuses to see the truth. OpenSecrets isn't right-wing but morons usually have to use a strawman when they can't debate with facts. Right DelrayDame?

Bob Gappa • 11 years ago

Name calling is childish. If you can't make your arguments without name calling, we the people can't really read what you post. By hurting people with your childish name calling you just hurt yourself and your ideas.

Scotty Starnes • 11 years ago

You're right Bob, but sometimes you have to stoop down to that level when dealing with individuals who name call first. Facts are stubborn things and it seems some hate facts.
