in my State a photo ID is required, and it's not a big deal. If you are doing things legally and only voting once, who cares if they check to make sure you are you, and I live in a small community where almost everyone knows everyone else, and it's STILL BY THE BOOKS!!

The US does a lot of things that worked perfectly fine as far back as I remember in the 80s. Many of these things have changed, such as getting a driver's license which now requires a passport. The US has to change a lot of things...

I was living in Alabama when I started voting (1982). In virtually ALL the elections I voted in there, I never had to show ANY sort of ID. A volunteer would ask my name and then cross it off a list. Then, he or she would hand me a ballot and point me to a privacy cubicle.
