Sam Sylvain • 12 years ago

I would gladly accept it if they gave it to me for free.

Albert Morton • 12 years ago

Lets say im getting robbed. The dude pulls a gun, then i pull the S3 Krypton. I permanently blind him. We both go to jail.  Thats not good.

Konstantin Zorin • 12 years ago

Will never do any bussiness with wicked lasers. I ordered laser a year ago from them. They charged my credit card immediately but never shipped the product. They were postponing shipping estimates for several months using out of stock excuse (no warning when I was ordering!). They stopped responding in the end I had to dispute credit card transaction to get my money back (thanks for a great American Express service). If you search the web you will find other stories like mine. Really surprised engadget advertises these jerks. I was under opinion that wicked lasers is a scam.

Now we can play Star Wars for real ^-^

Umer Abdullah • 12 years ago

but what's the good use of it ?

FlacVest • 12 years ago

To blind the jerk off that keeps making your life miserable while hiding in the bushes across the street.

Duh.

I won the S3 Arctic in a Facebook contest. It is now one of my favorite things I own...

laser death machine is now available to the public.

Dominic Snowdon • 12 years ago

But can it kill Superman?

sharukh007 • 12 years ago

Umm...Sonic Screwdriver ripoff, much?

cinerik • 12 years ago

Um, in as much as it's tubular, yes.  It's also a lightsaber ripoff from that perspective, a maglite ripoff, an overcooked sausage ripoff...

maxinthefax • 12 years ago

absurdio • 12 years ago

Why?

Mindless Yo • 12 years ago

Why?

Not a big fan of government regulations, but selling those to the public is irresponsible.

GeneralThade • 12 years ago

Don't be a pussy.

MaeseDude • 12 years ago

It already happened that some idiots tried to blind pilots of incoming, landing passenger airplanes with (much weaker) laser pointers. If something like that ever happens with this thing, I hope you're one of the passengers, so may have a reason to think real hard about all this. And maybe "see the light" at some point (sorry for the pun)

FlacVest • 12 years ago

Oh please. Nobody drops a grand on a device to blind pilots landing planes.

Chris Curry • 12 years ago

Great now I can finally annoy astronaughts while they're watching movies.

Mandeep Singh • 12 years ago

lol!  I have a Class IIIB, 32 mW laser (green), which is one level below those which can burn skin!  I wonder what the wattage is on this one.

Marcin W. • 12 years ago

they say it: 1W

I hope you feel ashamed after your toy causes an accident.

Braden Harrington • 12 years ago

Really, if properly used, it becomes a useful tool. It is only when people use it improperly that it becomes a hazard. Who would put a grand on something to screw around with it.

aphotix • 12 years ago

They are pretty clear about the dangers of these. They have a security lockout to prevent accidental use from someone not authorized. To make it more clear, I can go buy a gun for a lot less, its a lot more dangerous, and the safety is just on or off, as opposed to a code.

Your concerns are understandable, but as people we deal with dangerous things every day, this is the least of my concerns. Of course there are always dissenters. Having had said that, I'd like to own one, I could never afford it.

Roger Le • 12 years ago

If you ever tried to light a pipe in a windy day, you'll understand the importance of lasers.

Agilis • 12 years ago

I'd imagine if I was involved with L.A.S.E.R. research, or had a heavy interest in the technology behind a L.A.S.E.R., or if I was a college professor that teaches a L.A.S.E.R. course, I'd be interested in owning this Wicked Lasers Krypton. Now, that being said, I'm not, and if I was, I would have the training and perhaps the certification/license required to keep myself, and others safe, when operating something like this.

Make no mistakes folks, this L.A.S.E.R. is as dangerous as dangerous gets. Anyone who thinks otherwise does not understand the dangers that come along with owning a L.A.S.E.R. product such as this. Anyone near you, who happens to stare at the point where the beam reflects, will probably be blinded instantly if they are not wearing eye protection. Severity: Severe. Just to give you an idea of easy it is to be blinded:

If you were to aim this at the night sky to point to a star, or a group of stars, and an insect, leaf, animal, smoke, heavy moisture, anything that could block the beam for a moment in the night sky, that reflection will blind anyone glancing at the beam at that moment who is not wearing proper eye protection.

So I agree with everyone who says this product should require a license, certification, etc. to purchase and cannot understand how there is none.

Also, don't believe the hype of this product where it can disrupt or damage satellites. Satellites orbit around 200 miles above Earth and are moving way too fast. Try holding a normal red dot pointer, pointing it at the wall and keeping the dot steady. Then multiply the unsteadiness of the dot about a million times.

ross smith • 12 years ago

It doesn't require a license because it's on the correct side (just barely) of a line drawn in the sand.  It's always difficult to pick a value and make everyone happy.  I agree that the line is drawn well into dangerous territory, but I don't know what output level I'd pick for a new line.

TL;DR to Agilis' post:  This thing is extremely dangerous.  If you don't do laser research, you shouldn't own this. The reflections will blind people.

blustrkr • 12 years ago

See, this is the news we need.

moar laserz

QuietSeditionist • 12 years ago

I'm more blinded by their website than the laser...

Metroidam11 • 12 years ago

I don't see the point of owning one of these.

Eli Ratcliff • 12 years ago

Glitch Mob.

TheKlingonFarmer • 12 years ago

Goggles on, and into the night you disappear with the laser.. naturally to blind passers-by.

Felix • 12 years ago

I know a lot of lasers that can blind an astronaut, it's not like they have special "laser-proof eyes" or anything.

asaien • 12 years ago

Can I mount it to my airsoft!?!?

asaien • 12 years ago

See related BMW headlight article...

sp12 • 12 years ago

Really, what's the point of making this product other than for some kid to shoot it at airplanes? I've never been to a powerpoint presentation that someone needed an upgraded laser pointer.

BratPAQ • 12 years ago

who cares about blinding the astronaut? ill use this on that oncoming car with blinding HID light.

Alexandre • 12 years ago

Astronaut : "Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here."

Houston : "This is Houston. Say again please."

Astronaut : "Houston, we've had a problem. We're under attack. Tranquility has just exploded. It was some kind of laser weapon. It punched a hole right through it. I've never seen anything like it."

Houston : "We're sending backup. Bruce Willis should be there within 24 hours. Hang in there. Houston out."

Kurosakiuzu • 12 years ago

How the hell can this be legal?? This is extremely dangerous bro.. Sure, its cool and I like it but man, I wouldn't want to mess with that unless aliens invade our world. lol.

JorgeC • 12 years ago

In some countries it is not legal. Anyways, right now it is pretty easy to buy a 2W laser for less than $600 (this is 1W).

SCHMITTY338 • 12 years ago

Also, you can import very strong lasers (like 300 mW) for around $35!

Bishop Coxcomb • 12 years ago

Will it blend?

Brooks Andersen • 12 years ago

Laser dust, Don't breath this!

disqus_pHXMi5kUhn • 12 years ago

Call me when i can cut up vegetables with it.

Daewootech • 12 years ago

how do they get around the whole 5kw legal limit? since you know, we cant sneak 200mw lasers over from DX anymore, lol

SCHMITTY338 • 12 years ago

In Canada you can...I got myself a 10 mW green laser for astronomical pointing...works wonders while camping, especially when paired with Google Sky!
