Who needs TZ? There is a paradigm shift and north and north-east is the way to go.90 million Ethipians with a thriving middle class, Oil dollar rich S. Sudan and UG, tech leaning Rwanda. what can beat this?

diblolion17 • 10 years ago

A true Pan-East Africanist has spoken. The EAC Partner States must resist the politics of exclusion and divisionism as regional integration is a negotiated process. If EAC members keep on isolating a member that disagrees with the rest then we might as well not have any EAC economic bloc in future. Disagreements are bound to happen in such process but true and visionary leadership can help EAC state members to resolve their differences and move ahead. Bravo Raila Amolo Odinga

Keny@n • 10 years ago

We can and will survive without Tanzania. Simple fact. That is what has always scared them. Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi will do just fine! DRC has always been dependent on the same corridor.
Tanzania wakwende kabisa!

alatusilae • 10 years ago

you fail to understand that, burundi supports tz and is going to be on the same block of tz, burundi and drc. this is going to happen soon. Rwanda uganda and kenya will be one block of the north. you will lose drc market, the same to burundi, and mind you, when this comes to effect, tz will have anger against you, so they will sabotage everything of you which passes through tz, its going to be a cold war of a long time between the north and the south, and because tz is well positioned than kenya, you kenyans are the one to lose. you can't expect anything from ethiopia because once the chinese build the port in elitrea, then you will have no port in mombasa and lamu. all in all, tz wants sadc than eac.

Ndoana • 10 years ago

Tz is constantly sending watchdogs while analyzing their time-time-to-live, deadtime and unreachable messages, if any.

Thankless • 10 years ago

Already campaigning for president of the EAC federation? Nice try!

kamojakabonge • 10 years ago

And who said 'i don't want a job from Uhuru' heheheheee....can the dailies now write in their front pages.... 'i want a job from Uhuru'- Raila. wonders will never cease in Kenya.

Geza Ulole • 10 years ago

For those who think COMESA might work without good relations with Tanzania thinkof a situation Tanzania closes her borders with Kenya like they did 1977, will you fly your merchandise to those land locked countries that belong to COMESA? And who told you that Ethiopia wants to join EAC? That will be the last country to do so in the region! Their mentality is so different from us

Toni MM • 10 years ago

Tell them Ulole! I like the Ethiopians alot but honestly, we have very little common. And truth be said, even my Ethiopian friends have called me "African" in unguarded moments. We are stuck with Tz for better or worse.

Ronald Kibet • 10 years ago

Raila is the King Of politics he deserves a chance to be one of the statesmen in putting up EAC together.

Mc • 10 years ago

Regionalism. the only economic future for countries. All this has none to do with the Kikwetes,Railas &
Musevenis;they wont be there forever. Its about remaining relevant&competitive in the global economic sphere.

Secondly,TZ has a long coastline, and a bigger portion of L.victoria. All under-tapped.Dont write them off just yet.
This backward,African mentality of reading tribalism&mistrust in everything ('poverty mentality' as some call it) ...imepitwa na wakati!!

karibu2009 • 10 years ago

We should all support Raila to bring East Africa together, the dream is for a federation of the union but I also think that Tanzania needs to stop holding the other members at ransom, we all remember how much Kibaki's government had to give to keep TZ happy in a way the direction the other members have taken is a semblance to the EU we all know Britain was going to hold back the others. But in all I truly support RO and hope to see him and Museveni as the first leaders of federated East Africa.

non_complainer • 10 years ago

Was he not offered the role of an eminent person by the jubilee government, but his so called wisdom lied to him it was political suicide. So for once stick to your decision accept the train has already left the station.

momani • 10 years ago

To have a glimpse at what is at stake, I suggest >>>>http://www.africareview.com...

Now, TZ needs Kenya as much as Kenya needs it. It's purely a symbiotic relationship which will benefit both countries populace!
Till a time we elect strong leaders who will unite us these small and stupid shananigans will continue to hinder us from harnessing our true potential !

sufkim • 10 years ago

Raila does not need permission from Uhuru to travel to Tanzania. He has travelled widely and broadly without any consultations in the past. Let him be like Jimmy Carter, and roll out his regional diplomacy, this is an opportunity that he cannot afford to lose. Go for it Sir.

Mathew Omondi • 10 years ago

The guy just realized how quick it is to getting irrelevant and he's now seeking attention.

AgumbaJohn • 10 years ago

Good neighborliness is paramount. I wonder what Kenya can benefit from Uganda better than from TZ unless Museveni's dictatorial school of thought, infringement on media, status quo and impunity which are irrelevant in Kenyan spheres. Better we go it with TZ than Uganda.

Agumba-Germany.

mnesh • 10 years ago

From a purely business point of view, we currently stand to loose more than we stand to gain if the Tanzanians bone us on the EAC deal...so we'll swallow it this one time and call for diplomatic resolutions to the dispute. If circumstances were different, we'd let KDF do the talking....Godspeed Mr. Odinga.

Mwafrica • 10 years ago

The Tanzanian land will always belong to Tanzanians, Tanzanians will never allow Kenyans et al to own the land in Tanzania just because of EAC. Never!!!

richard • 10 years ago

Our Ancestors had no PhD but struggled and managed with their inferior rudimentary weapons to ward off the colonialists BUT we are selling our lands, countries and turning ourselves and our generation into modern slavery despite of our level of education!!!. shame on us and our African leaders.

Guest • 10 years ago

I've heard it said that PhD stands for "Permanent head Damage"(at least in Africa)!

sufkim • 10 years ago

There is no point in your statement,it is like saying Somalia is for the Somalis and they will never allow Kenyans to own the land in Somalia. These are poor dilapidated countries that one would never want to settle in anyway. We have so much land in Kenya that we have not utilized, why would we want to go to Tanzania for land? Get your facts straight, the issue here is about regional cooperation, which would be beneficial to all parties. Tanzania has nothing for Kenyans to crave for, other than the magic cure which turned out to be lies, and you will never see people lining up for visas in their embassy in Nairobi.

Mathew Omondi • 10 years ago

Haha tell the dude. He has a problem with Kenya's capitalism and is afraid of being a squatter in his native land.

Keny@n • 10 years ago

hehe. How did your last 'mediations' go hmm? Museveni hates you and Kagame dislikes you. No way you can mediate anything here (or even in Kenya as the election showed).
Still waiting for ndaos from Kibera!

Limao • 10 years ago

Don't get personal....look at the bigger picture..its Kenya that stands to lose incase of breakup....Major Kenyan companies have opened shop in Tz....Equity, KCB, Uchumi,...with numerous Kenyan products around...u must certainly be a hawker on the streets of Nairobi for this to escape you..

loxx • 10 years ago

If TZ wants to leave, allow them to do so,why should we try and pamper a country that practices soft xenophobia on some of its neighbours citizens and has the highest number of non tariff barriers, let them leave if they wish to,then they can sell their maize and timber to Burundi and DRC

Paul M. Mugassa • 10 years ago

What about your blue bands, Omo and other products flooding in Tanzania markets??? Should Nakumatt close in Moshi because of you? Even cleaners are from Kenya!!!!! What about KCB which has branches in Zanzibar, Dar, Moshi, Arusha???? Think big

Mchoraji • 10 years ago

Support you Paul.Tz also benefits.Go to the big fresh produce market in Nairobi & it's full of Tz trucks. The Tz farmers who supply farm produce in Nairobi & Mombasa like the Kenyan market because the returns are better. As a team, we all benefit

jikomoto • 10 years ago

I agree that we all benefit as a team. But how do you deal with a partner you feel suits you but they are hell bent on making life difficult in your relationship with unreasonable demands? It is well and good for TZ to protect the interests of their citizens but let them be honest with their dealings with their neighbours. They frustrate and harass Kenyan businesspeople but open their arms wide to South African businesses (Mzungu)

Limao • 10 years ago

Tell them Paul.....

kunguru • 10 years ago

So you think DRC and Burundi will fill in the void.

Maji_Baridi • 10 years ago

Kenya has had businesses in TZ that has zero to do with the EAC. This regional bloc is being set up to advance things like the ease of movement of persons, common currency, a unified tourism bloc etc.

Mercym66 • 10 years ago

I suport you sir on this.

James Kim • 10 years ago

This good for nothing foreign puppet is just looking for another region to auction to his masters, The answer is. Sorry loser. Try New York. You have more sympathizers there.

john diallo • 10 years ago

Please I thought we moved on. Why spew such venom? Tanzania is our neighbour and we have to coexist with them for the posterity of our region.

Guest • 10 years ago

From ujamaa poverty-whiped village ideologies during nyerere times to obama Americas, europes, easy target(sitting duck) times...what a complete cycle! Mbona mukawa ivyo jameni ndugu zetu?

Mtu Mwema • 10 years ago

Well spoken.....words of wisdom from a great mind.

Guest • 10 years ago

If Only Raila resisted temptations to be everywhere all the time ....

john diallo • 10 years ago

The role of an official opposition leader is not only to criticize the ruling party but to offer solutions to situations like these and to work together when faced with a situation where our security is at stake like the West Gate incident. This TZ situation is an attack to the economic posterity of our region, hence the need for a unified approach!

Geza Ulole • 10 years ago

Someone is putting sense to a Govt in her infancy! The size of Tanzania+DRC+Burundi (strategic corridor) can effectively lock those trio. from any meaningful business in the region.

Mchoraji • 10 years ago

Kenya is also turning North to Ethiopia which is another new market with a 90million population. We are also the second biggest exporter in Comesa (after Eqypt that has been going through a difficult period) so you'l find our products in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi e.t.c.That however doesn't mean we don't need Tanzania or that they don't need us.Let's tamper our egos

Geza Ulole • 10 years ago

I suppose u will fly your products on air all the time! since there is no way they can get to those land locked three without crossing Tanzania soil!

Jamededge • 10 years ago

I agree with 18 and Over...DRC and Burundi will be much better off with the Tri-Factor than with non-starters who thrive on perception of Kenyan's Greatness which with every passing day comes true, They make strategic blunders making us the beneficiary

18 and Over • 10 years ago

The size is not important...the philosophy and economic orientation are. Tanzania doesn't have both and should therefore be allowed to vacate. These guys like to sleep all day and then say that Kenyans are aggressive in business. Show me one reason why we should not edge them into economic oblivion? We shouldn't be afraid of non-starters

john diallo • 10 years ago

What would it benefit Kenya to edge Tz into economic oblivion while advanced economies like EU are forming larger markets? Are they missing something or I may be missing something myself?

naribiro • 10 years ago

Its Tanzania fear of Kenyan's business aggressiveness that make it want to withdraw from the union.

Paul M. Mugassa • 10 years ago

you have been given the head not to grow hair but to store brain and use it!!!!! Kenya is not superior than Tanzania as you may think!! Germany is superior in EU and is even offering job opportunities to other EU citizens but Kenya is vice versa, its people are the ones walking around other countries looking for jobs!! We have many here in Arusha...

tiat • 10 years ago

Eh! You lost me. Are you comparing Tanzania's economic prowess to Germany's? And if am not wrong, you are commenting on DN the leading newspaper in EA, which belongs to TZ, Germany or Kenya?
