When someone becomes president his issues are no longer personal- that is basic common sense. That is why he cannot drink in his "local" anymore.
Muthama needs to shut up. Africans who support ICC and other Wazungu courts do not know their history. The West has never showed you justice - from colonialism to apartheid to slavery.
So be as politically partisan as you want to be- but we are going to bend over to Neo colonialism. Why is the US not in ICC - you mean it does not want "justice"?
The guy has a point. Uhuru promised to co-operate with the ICC.
So what happens to Joshua Sang who is jointly charged with Ruto?. Will he be left on his own?
Kenya as a state is not on trial. Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are the ones on trial, a point well made by Senator Muthama. They should not drag the country along. They would still face the trial at ICC as individuals had they not been elected as president and deputy president. Mr. Sang is facing the same trial at ICC as an individual and is not pulling the country along. There is no rational in attempts to continue politicizing an issue that has to be settled legally!
The ICC issue is not a personal issue if we listen to the evidence that the OTP and witnesses have been presenting in The Hague. It;s awash with politics and personalities, with the two principles of 2007 being mentioned continuously by all parties. It is a national issue and we have to get to the bottom of it somehow.
A cursory look at the comments section here tells me a number of things;
1. Kenyans are a largely superstitious lot,
2. Kenyans are largely slave to tribe.
3. As is par for the course in Kenyan politics, it's largely the language your ancestors spoke more than what you stand for as a leader that determines your success in politics, and,
4. I'll likely get skewered for 1) above.
Muthama spoke like a true statesman. Why should we carry someone else cross yet this was personal challenge. Since when did it become my personal challenge?
All Uhuru supporters are not Kikuyu- some are not even Kenyan
How is he inciting people, ICC put in place by the world body and that is the only court by the world body made up of how many 183 countries members of UN whatever. It is not a Kenyan court. go muthama tell them. Infact the two should be locked up in hague for years not months heaven sake
What's education got to do with leadership? Look at Zimbabwe...Mugabe is one of the presidents with the highest degrees, but look what mess he has done on Zimbabwe!
Please remember the presidential debates.
How did pushing the ICC agenda help you in the last elections?
MR muthama you are smart, and you are correct.
The great court of God which is soon coming, there will be no politicians to traverse the continent for God to stop or differ the cases.many earthly leaders do not know God, and are not concerned at all about the coming great court of God
Mr Prezzo and DP please clear your names at the ICC , that will make yourselves and everybody else happy and comfortable with you., i dont buy the idea of pulling out of the Rome statute.
Your arguement sounds rational but its faulty. You assume that ICC is fair court where someone can go "clear" their name. Why is Bush not there "clearing" his name?
Your African mind is so neocolonized. You believe wazungus mean good for blacks/Africans. Look what they did to your forefathers. They said lets pray and when people opened their eyes they were holding the Bible but their land was gone.Rethink your trust on Mzungu
I agree with you in total Mr Muthama.
suggest going native
Sen Muthama is entitled to his opinion even though he is of little consequence and a small man in this matter.
Smaller than you, I bet!
Wonderful man and true leader
AU or OAU as it used to be known is nothing but a huge and costly presidential party. Nothing has ever came out of those parties. It is just misuse of our meager resources. So Uhuru is still accused and he should carry his own cross.
Now, a Politician with balls! Uhuruto followers can learn something from Mr. Muthama; that Kenya and Uhuru are two different entities! Only one is charged at the ICC!
nobody's surprised it is in your genes to be a coward as history will reveal to you kenyatta wil not go to the hague not if we have something about it wacha kutetemeka
We, Kenya, the majority, are pulling out of the Rome Statute mpende msipende!! In a few months, the Act will be repealed and the ICC will cease to be a Kenyan court. No warrants or whatever nonsense issued by the ICC will mean anything here!
Prayer rallies hangover..... wake and smell the coffee.
learn to speak as an individual first, then represent kenya. when your source of words is a collective, aka, WE, you lose all rights to your opinion.
Celebrate then. For a while.
Then as waswahili husema 'ganga lijalo'
You need to talk some sense here Mr muthama ,no democratic elected president of an African country will go to the ICC,Africa has spoken.
I think those of Muthama don't really understand differences of politics and case before the court. These are leaders and there is no where that you can separate a Country and leaders. I think Muthama want CORD to get Kenya leadership or taking advantage of ICC to get top job. I disagree with you Muthama.
freedom of speech is only for the high and mighty, speak for us Muthama. well thought piece
Good senator
Not good,but great senator!
Man, is this country governed by the what the bible says ? Religion will be the death of me.
defeatist approach
My friend .. Justive of God is not justice of man. He is full of compassion and he says woever comes to him...regardless of his past he washes his sins as white as snow. We should pray that those who perpetrated the violence reason together with their maker so that their sins would be forgiven.
That said since we live in countries with rule of law, irrespective of their deal with the Most High, They should also face the law of the land... that is the justice that most people are after.
True
It is difficult to understand why personal issues are being forced down our throats. Justice MUST be allowed to take it's course. A exodus from Rome Statute is no solution but it paints Govt as full of impunity!
Hollier than thou attitude is what brought us to where we are now. Muthama should should be tolerant and respect the wishes of the majority
Stop trying to reason with kungu....it's a waste of keyboard strokes. Just went through his post and realized there is zero logic in there.
For once a little sense from Muthama. Most probably just influenced from the side of the political wing he ascribes to.
Lesson learnt, Uhuru Kenyatta is not Kenya and Kenya is not Uhuru Kenyatta.
