He'll be a great doctor. To those who want to send him back: I hope you will never lack a doctor when you're in need of one. Coming to the US saved his life. That he ended up illegal was only partially, if at all, his "fault". He doesn't want permanent residency to sit at home and collect welfare, he wants it so he can become a doctor and *work* as a doctor. It's not like we have too many of those.

An illegal doesn't pay taxes and can tap into social security they also get government health benefits and government housing. Sure they only make $4 an hour. But how much money does it take when all you have to do is get a cheap used car and pay for gas at a discounted rate because the government helps with that too.

An undocumented immigrant does not have access to social security. That requires a SSN which an illegal cannot get without a US birth certificate or a valid work visa. They also cannot qualify for medicare. Check your facts.

A small amount actually can get benefits in the event of a natural disaster or medical emergency. One could also just steal a social security number and get benefits that the person should have gotten.

Not so -- one using a social security number not their own can pay into the person's social security account, but they cannot collect from it. To collect social security requires documentation and proof of identification that the person could not provide. Hence a person working with a "borrowed" social security number is only contributing, not withdrawing. To get help in cases of natural disaster would. require that one show up at aid stations, which most undocumented immigrants are unwilling to do given the ICE policies of snagging and deporting people. Most aid requires some proof of entitlement (including residency). Access to medical care in an emergency would be limited to the same emergency room care at a public hospital to which any indigent person is entitled.
