Hi, I am an ethnic Bulgarian that lives in a region among ethnic Turks and I want to shed some light on this assassination attempt, because from abroad it might see like one, but it really is a badly orchestrated soup opera.

First some history:
MRF is basically an ethnic party, which is anti-constitutional, but yet, it
still exists. Its leaders are entirely comprised of Ex-Secret Service agents
(i.e. commies), including the man of the hour - Ahmet Dogan (some have entries
in Wikipedia). Ahmet Dogan is the sole leader of the party for 23 years. He is
quite discredited, and no other party wants to form coalitions with his party,
because he is associated with numerous crimes. Ethnic Turks vote entirely for
this party, like 99.9%, so its place in the Bulgarian Parliament is guaranteed.
Anyway, yesterday it was the night that he would step down, allegedly. But in
order to come clean somehow, something has to be done.

So here are the facts so far:

- The assassin is an ethnic Turk, member of MRF, and is a criminal - has a history of drug-dealing, resisting arrest, etc. - why he is not in prison is another enigma. He has no record of mental disability. Please note that the assassin’s brother has won a big nation-wide contest (something like America Got Talent) just a month ago,
no need for ethnic scare.

- The weapon is a gas pistol, with no clip. After the fight, 3 'bullets' were found - two blanks and one filled with pepper (used to scare animals).

- Although Ahmet Dogan has been assigned a special detail from the National Security Service, on this day, they were refused access to the hall. Some other security firm was hired for the task. Also no weapons search and no weapons scanner was utilized on entry (first time).

- Immediately after the fight, the man that should replace Ahmet Dogan, publicly made a speech, with calm voice, and no stutter, accusing the Bulgarians for this, basically playing the race card ( and he is not shaken by the event, and has a prepared speech already). This should be a punishable crime, but no one cared.

- After the assassin has fallen and apprehended by security, MRF members tried to lynch him, by kicking him and trying to pull his pants down (probably a cultural thing) - watch the video. Basically these MRF members made the job of the security team very hard. Today, the lead prosecutor (Kokinov) said that they will not be charged with attempt to harm and hindering security - although there is a video that
clearly shows that those men act as berserks, not as political representatives.

So, viewed from abroad, all this is quite embarrassing for Bulgaria. Instead of being
prosecuted for damaging the image of the country, those political figures will
probably be put in Parliament again (it is an election year in Bulgaria). The
assassin himself is now charged with hooligan actions (up to 5 years in
prison), because it was made clear by experts that his intent was not to kill.

In the end, it may look like an assassination, but it is not. It is a shameful event, and the actors are very bad.

The actors are pretty good actually.

Race card is a very popular game in my country called Malaysia

John • 11 years ago

Yes indeed, where the chinese and indians minorities always challenge and provoke the muslim majority. The chinese and indians in Malaysia aren't patriotic and still see China and India as their motherland yet still want to live in Malaysia. This comment by darshan is a solid proof how unpatriotic these ethic minorities in Malaysia are. The world should know.

Muhammad • 11 years ago

Indians and Chinese have no sense of patriotism for their "so called" motherland. They were born and raised in Malaysia and their loyalty lies there and there alone. It was these "pendatangs" that helped build this country. Never forget that

John • 11 years ago

The fact is that the Malays were never ever had invited nor wanted these immigrants into Malaysia. It was the British that brought them over to the Malay states which is now modern Malaysia. But still the Malays were generous enough to give citizenship to these immigrants in return for their loyalty and respect to the Malay rulers as they were the original settlers, the majority and the owner of the Malay states. Now the chinese and indians in Malaysia constantly challenging the constitutions and the rights of the majority. They are never afraid to tell lies and even insult their own country. I can go on forever to talk about these immigrants. We never forget.

AK • 11 years ago

Criticism will help Malaysia to be a better country. If you expel the Chinese and Indian from Malaysia, they will just form another Singapore whose GDP is 5 times of Malaysia's GDP and has a "cleaner" corruption perception index than Malaysia. If you persecute the Chinese and Indian as Indonesia did, Malaysia will become just like Indonesia whose vast majority IS the Muslims and has a GDP 20% of that in today's Malaysia and is deemed more corrupt than Malaysia itself.

reddfrog • 11 years ago

Malays are garbage, no discipline, cannot run anything, and corrupt to the core.

EternalBliss • 11 years ago

any "card" that divides people... is always good for politics..

reddfrog • 11 years ago

Malays are corrupt and can't do anything properly much less run a government. It's the same in Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia.

Vick Vick • 11 years ago

I agree.

indian-american • 11 years ago

Watch from the 27th second for next 5 seconds. You can clearly tell that the politician and the attacker are "Acting"

Thomas • 11 years ago

"but it really is a badly orchestrated soup opera." You could have stopped there. We know.

акуд акудов • 11 years ago

Ahmed Dogan is not a Muslim and Gypsy. this is why the attacker is a real Muslim

craze • 11 years ago

In September 2007 Dogan's name was listed on an official report of communist-era secret police collaborators. According to the report, Dogan was a paid agent of the Committee for State Security from August 1974 until March 1988.[2]

Of course it is ethnic party. What do you expect? Why Turks should vote for Bulgarians? We didnt forget what bulgarians did to Turkish people. Actually because of discrimination in Bulgaria as being Turkish, we
decided to leave Bulgaria in 1989. I was 5 years old. Later i learned
that Bulgaria gave me Bulgarian name even i was Turkish. It was
forbidden to give Turkish names in Bulgaria. My parents said they never
given highest mark of 6 in school due to being Turkish. They are giving 5
even they were the best students. Bulgarians even started to change the
names in graves. It was forbidden to speak Turkish on streets. If
police catches you were beaten, torchured. So many Turkish people lost
their health even so many of them are killed. They were beating Turkish
people in prison with wet pillow so that in body you cant see any mark
but inside you have internal bleeding. Funny part is Bulgarians say they
are tolerant. They are racist. Right now i am so happy in Turkey. We have
everything and we are not miserable poor lazy people like Bulgarians.
So do you still accept that Turks will vote for racist Bulgarians? Get real my friend. By the way we want Turkish education in Bulgaria.

Mike • 11 years ago

Define turkish education. Do you mean a good solid secular education? or do you mean Islamic where it teaches how Islam is number 1, Turkey is number 1, death to the infidels, women are dirt? Do not try to force your culture on others, it only leads to the majority KILLING the minority that is trying to forcefully inject their culture.

jess • 11 years ago

dude, here in the U.S they force Christianity on everyone . If a group of people want a school where they teach turkish and teach their religion....let them do it! here in the U.S there are catholic schools, islamic school, etc etc.

Daniel Yorgov • 11 years ago

So "poor lazy racist Bulgarians"; and awesome Turks. You are so smart and you know it all and definitely not a nationalist.
Shameful events that you describe, I agree. Those were orchestrated by the Communist regime, not by the people (although popular support did exit). Shameful past events however are quite a few in Turkey's history too. But I don't draw conclusions for all Turkish people because of this. Good luck to you.

ariminats • 11 years ago

Be happy in Turkey, but we remain of Bulgaria! Just to clarify that there is no tension between ethnic groups, but that the party MRF are always trying to create. Gone is what communist, which, as you say, almost burdensome it is, but there are Turks and we are all the same civil rights as opposed to then. And believe me, nobody wants to be ruled by people who do not think the people but for themselves, but unfortunately all the power in Bulgaria is. And if you think the Turks in Bulgaria to take revenge in this way the whole nation because of the iron laws (because they really were such as you) to Todor Zhivkov, they do not think so, or at least most, have not Ahmet Dogan deceived by!

Klowiepowie • 11 years ago

All this to give the party some kind of 'victem' status? Or a 'look it's not only people like Geert Wilders in Holland that needs protection'. I already started to laugh when I heard the name. Islamic party for freedom and rights. Btw.. google that and you'll end up with a terrorist organisation 'muslim brotherhood'. Talking about that.. Bulgaria has 5 billion reasons to hate van Rompuy. Morsi in Egypt is spending that money on pedophile and polygamous marriages. While a lot of Bulgarian are pretty much starving. While you do, you guys pay 10 euro each to support pedophilia and polygamous marriages in Egypt.

Canadian Muslim • 11 years ago

Except everything you said came from the butt of a bull

Klowiepowie • 11 years ago

I don't think so "In an attempt to fight “spinsterhood,” the Egyptian Bank for Development and Agricultural Credit decided to grant loans to new farmers to encourage polygamy."
english.alarabiya. net/articles/2013/01/16/260663. ht ml

5 billion euro and Egypt is spending it on pedophile and polygamous marriages. Should be front page news.

Klowiepowie • 11 years ago

Of course people like you believe that is marriage, because pedophile mo also raped a little girl. For the sake and protection of children we should forbid Islam in the west. That they never be raped by people who consider something like that as marriage. Sad people like you coming over to the West because Islam doesn't work out.

EternalBliss • 11 years ago

Nothing new... just good 'ol politics..

Mike • 11 years ago

If this is all true, I would not be surprised when a new Hitler will arise again.

Trevlovedawg Wags • 11 years ago

good info thanx for the scoop!

Insider • 11 years ago

Total comedy. See details and you will see what was the purpose of that act.

1. Gas gun. You can't kill nobody with gas gun.
2. Act infront of 1000-2000 peoples. There is no chance for escape of assassin.
3. The gunman is member of the same party, and he is a ethnic Turk.
4. Don't forget that is time for parlament election this year in Bulgaria.

All is simple PR campain of the same party just on time when the political trust on that party go down.

Guest • 11 years ago

Audience all bald?! WTH!!!

Daisai • 11 years ago

"Cant kill nobody" is a double negative therefor you say you can kill someone.
The fact that he is part of the same party isnt a reason he wouldnt try to kill him.
Rabin was also killed by a israeli.

Kevin • 11 years ago

Correction: "an Israeli." Having your grammar corrected online is kind of annoying don't you think?

guest • 11 years ago

Rabin was killed by NOT by 'his' party member, but by his fanatic from his political opposition: Israel isn't party - it's a country with many parties that often not 'friendly' to each-other. So, you have false start. Also, double negation is an error in standard English, but gaining track in some dialects (notably Ebony; not that I'm advocating derivations from standard)

guest • 11 years ago

Please forgive me for extra 'by' - just fingertip error :)

Thorsten Wieking • 11 years ago

You can kill or badly wound someone with a gas / blank firing gun, especially at point blank range - 450 to 600 bar of gas pressure at the muzzle.

Evan Farley • 11 years ago

Otherwise known as an assassination attempt. Journalism is dead.

SageAvice • 11 years ago

What do you expect... It is CNN.

CommonSenseGuy • 11 years ago

Crap Not News? Cnn..... Hmm....

Poltergist • 11 years ago

Gas pistols are non-lethal weapons.

Spring Toola • 11 years ago

Not at point blank range.

Laroo • 11 years ago

Yea really. From reading the original headline (before they changed it a minute ago) I thought some guy just pointed a gun at his head as part of a demonstration and CNN was trying to make it into a story. Very misleading.

/Care • 11 years ago

Actually that's exactly what happened-this random guy just walked in and pointed a gin to his head and pulled the trigger. I The gun jammed, that's why he was so surprised. The guy with the gun tried to shoot again but the gun jammed again. Ahmed Dogan is alive by pure chance. I watched it all on our national news last night (bnt)

craze • 11 years ago

this gas pistol is a joke. the worst that he could get is mild burns.

disqus_PiRYuk9Yyc • 11 years ago

yes.. it's clear that the gun jammed.. that's why the assasin was surprised.. the politician would be badly wounded, or blind.

Me • 11 years ago

it was a gas pistol
