Not all of us at MBCA are pensioners, actually a lot of us are actively enjoying our Mercedes-Benz automobiles doing things like autocross, track events, Do-It-Yourself events and lots of social events (that does not involve a senior buffet meal!)

Indeed many M-B enthusiasts are older, but we have plenty of 20 somethings that are buying cars their grandparents worked their entire lives to afford, and are now playing with them in ways that GrandDad did when he was in his twenties.

As for demolition derby, come out to a 24 hours of LeMons race and see a number of the classic M-B's from years ago make it through the race, be hit, put back together and raced to win. Just like a group of MBCA members did last month at the Real Hoopties of New Jersey Race at NJ Motorsports Park. That was a team made up of a 31 year old guy, a 50 year old guy and a couple of guys and gals in between, all active MBCA members!

Come out to an MBCA event and meet, our members, I know you will get a different impression of them than "pensioners."

Of course not all MBCA members are pensioners, but the median age struck me as rather extreme and got me thinking. I wonder what the median age of active members is...

Hell, if I had the cash I'd be a 26 year old in a Benz (The C63 is one of the most memorable cars I've ever driven), and I'm considering joining the club just to get the magazine, having met Gary (Editor in Chief of The Star) and read through an issue.

Also, I'm making my extreme jealousy face regarding your 24 Hours of LeMons experience right now. If you ever need another team-mate, I could call it a work trip and be there in no time.

Our young members are not all driving the expensive stuff, what they are driving are the SEC's from the 80's, the W123 and W124's. They like the solidness of the cars, that they can work on them themselves, and get parts pretty easily from each other, or at the pick and pull junkyards.

To give you something to wet your whistle, have a look at this from behind our local team of MBCA members http://youtu.be/ye4jtRNB-j8

Gary Anderson does a great job on our magazine, but there is so much more about our club than an multi-award winning magazine that comes into your mail box. For sure you should join, depending on where you are in the country, you will have a great local section, like our in the Washington DC area.

Yep we got some grey hairs around, but that has been well earned!

Look forward to seeing you at a club event soon!

Looks like you are in luck too our MBCA | 500 Section is probably your close to home section, they and the nearby sections in Ohio, and Indiana will give you a good understanding of the membership of the M-B Club here in the USA.

Thanks for the tip! It's on my horrifyingly long to-do list.
