I agree with you 100%. Mr obama could make sure the veterans were taken care of, but oh NO, he wanted to make sure the "cuts were as visible as possible". It's a sad day in this country when our President cares more about immigration reform and the illegals that have been let loose in this country than he cares about Americans! His priorities should be to the people who PAY him, not just the people who VOTE for him.

There is one party that has spent the last 4+ year saying that the most important thing ever is to cut government spending. They are the party that just came out with another budget proposal this week that includes NOTHING but more spending cuts. The only thing the republican party has to offer is tax cuts on the rich and cutting government spending. This is what you have been asking for.

No one has proposed real "cuts" in government spending! The budgets that both the senate and the house of representatives have proposed differ only in the RATE OF INCREASE in spending!

I believe Paul Ryan's budget (in the republican controlled House of Representatives) proposes an INCREASE in spending of 3.4% each year resulting in a balanced budget in ten years. Murray's budget (in the democrat controlled senate) proposes an INCREASE in spending of 5% each year resulting in more trillion dollar deficits as far as the eye can see.

Only in "Washington speak" would an INCREASE in spending be called a "CUT!"

How do you know it was Obama that made those cuts? He is the commander in chief, but it says the Army announced. Seems like the Pentagon made those decisions. Just like with the white house tours, the secret service needed to make cuts, and they decided that the best way to do that without compromising security was to not have to add staff to covery the tours. But Obama gets the blame.

Kind of a weird comment. He's the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces but the pentagon made the decision without the commander signing off ?

Meaning I don't think he makes all the decisions for every program the sequester effects. He is only one man, you know.

That's right, use some of the most persecuted and defenseless members of our society as scapegoats rather than holding those who are actually responsible for this mess accountable.

But that's exactly what we should expect from right wingers. You don't actually want to solve any of the problems you spent all your time complaining about, you just want something and someone to attack.

Our nation, has almost always screwed it's veterans. That goes back all the way to the French and Indian wars, pre-revolution. People would do well to do a bit of historical research before they volunteer for our military, esp. when they are going to fight a war that didn't need to happen, which, actually is almost all the wars we have ever waged as a nation.

If we don't want to support our veterans we should stop making them.

And moreover, undocumented aliens contribute far, far more to our society than they take.

Those fruits and veggies you buy at the store? They'd be a lot more expensive if undocumented workers weren't in this country to do backbreaking work in hellish conditions for a miserable wage.

If we had more Americans who were willing to work, instead of sitting home collecting money from entitlement programs, then we wouldn't need undocumented workers. The American work ethic has been consistently going downhill. What did we do before the illegals? Maybe we worked harder? I am not talking about people on Medicare or SS, those are the ones who paid into the system for 30 or 40 years.

All of us, are probably descendants of immigrants and a lot of those immigrants got here Illegally.
Here in Maine, many of us who have Irish names, are here because during the famines, the Irish were refused entry to the states, so they landed in Montreal and then hoofed it south-many got here and said OK, this works.

Its supply and demand.. basic market economics. If illegals and temporary workers weren't available for these menial jobs, the wages for these jobs would go up and Americans would be willing to work them.

In the 80s I used to plant trees during the winter in the southern states. It was hard, cold, muddy, lonely work and we lived in campers on the sites where we planted. The money was reasonable. There was NEVER any shortage of people willing to do the work. Then, not sure why, "temporary workers" from Mexico and the Philippines started showing up and the pay dropped 50% overnight. It no longer made sense for me.. but it did for the Mexican family of 6 living out of a pickup camper because they sent everyone, including children, into the field. The children's work got reported by the parents, so child labor law was circumvented. Mostly nice people actually.. but while I was still there, the brother of that family's patriarch was hunted down for kidnapping and raping a woman from the town we were working in.

Soon after that I picked up similar work up around Blackstone Siding up north. That went well for a couple of years (twice as hard as any southern planting by the way), but then the same crews from down south came up and underbid us by 50%. I think that was the same company that ended up sending a van full of workers into a stream in the northern maine woods, killing all but one of the workers who escaped out the back door.
