Illegal trading is unquestionably one cause of the dwindling numbers of some animal species and fauna. But the bigger cause is their habitats being destroyed by mining, oil drilling, forests and open-areas converted to vast swathes of mono-crops, and other transnational corporate-induced destruction of the eco system....all 'legal' depending on which gov't officials are in which corporation's pocket. In good ole' USA there has been a plague of cross-pollution between government and corporations and in many thousands of places the ecological damage is apparent. (Not to mention aquifers and other water resources being poisoned by runoff toxins, which often isn't so apparent.)

Humans are truly a scourge on this planet.

The reason why there are so many sheep is because money is made from sheep - I dread to say this, but having tiger farms and elephant farms might actuall help these creatures to survive :-(

being a member doesn't mean they have law enforcement against this. Written laws are available but countries with high expectancy of corruption will easily turn a blind eye in illegally smuggling in endangered species. There should be a global police force to help reinforce this.

the Polar bear numbers, as I am lead to believe by the survey`s undertaken, the Polar Bear population is increasing and is now above the 50,000 mark and causing probelems as their numbers swell and they start strolling in to the towns. To suggest that they are vulnerable when they are now doubled in numbners compared to a few years ago, with no know predators, is bordering on the fatuous.
Could they also show i the report the vast increase in new species discovered in the same time frame and also the actual number of species lost in the last 20 years (start at zero and dont move far from it)

Capital punishment should NEVER be allowed. Because the act of killing severs the link with everyone else involved with Illegal Allocations and other criminal activities. Too many criminals have been wrongfully convicted of crimes they were only partially involved in, only to be assassinated or convicted by manipulation of evidence and put to death, to shield the major criminals from implication.

Just recently, Bush and Cheney were convicted of War Crimes in Malaysia. Billionaires are getting away with murder and treason. Even if there is a trial, there is no way of ensuring a fair trial because the coalition can control the entire environment surrounding the trial. And who else is involved at their level of influence?
