Bob, I don't think you understand what qualifies someone to be a Christian. A Christian IS one who "believes the teachings of Jesus Christ and believes that Jesus is the son of God", NOT someone who manipulates the church. Check any official dictionary. You've got the logic backwards. Because someone manipulates the church to his own ends does NOT mean that he is a Christian. In fact, it indicates his personal secularism. Of course many great figures in history manipulated the church. In European history, the church has almost always been a strong influence on society, and many great rulers manipulated different churches via pretending to be friendly to them with public support. If a ruler rejected a church they would lose much popular support, so OF COURSE the great figures of history took the easy road of feigned piety based on what was convenient. I suppose you think Henry VIII was Christian, too? (He founded a new church that he could manipulate better when Pope Clement VII refused to be his puppet. In fact, Wikipedia states that Watson was detained in Germany, after being accused of attempting to kill the crew of another vessel that was shark finning in Guatemalan waters. Did you seriously just say that the word "homosexuality" is not in the Bible and right afterwards say that the Bible DOES say that eating hot dogs is an abomination? Sorry, but the term "hot dog" is not in the Bible. Furthermore, the term "homosexuality" is Greek derived and wouldn't be in use for many hundreds of years to come, so OBVIOUSLY it wouldn't be in the Hebrew Old Testament. The Bible is clear that "a man is not to lie with a man" in Leviticus and Romans (both testaments).

I highly recommend that you read the Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You seem to have many basic misconceptions about Christianity. These books should clear them up easily. If you continue to have questions, I can recommend further reading of works by Boethius and St. Augustine.

Umm the Bible DOES speak about homosexuality. You yourself used a quote below about the number of times that homosexuality is mentioned in the Bible compared to heterosexuality. Just because the Hebrew doesn't use the word "homosexuality" (a Greek derived word that wouldn't appear for hundreds of years to come) doesn't mean it doesn't discuss it. You yourself said that the Old Testament forbids the eating of hot dogs on the basis that it says not to eat pork. Similarly, the Old Testament clearly forbids homosexual activity, though it doesn't use the word "homosexuality." The language is quite clear, even in that one verse alone: וְאֶת־זָכָר לֹא תִשְׁכַּב מִשְׁכְּבֵי אִשָּׁה תּוֹעֵבָה הִוא׃. As you can see, no English letters, thus no word "homosexuality". Get it now?

The Council of Jerusalem established which Jewish laws that Gentiles should follow. The dietary laws were not among them. Thus, Christians have been eating pork and shellfish for thousands of years. And that is why Christians are not protesting hot dogs.

First of all, it says "son", not "daughter", but that's just a technicality. Besides, a Christian would assumably be a participant of the New Covenant, not the Old.

But the Leviticus verse you gave says to put to death anyone who CURSES their father or mother, not "talks back to". I'm not sure where you got the misinformation. After all, you introduced some random Old Testament verses when in fact we were discussing whether or not homosexuality appears in the Bible. The sidetracking is not relevant).

I'll translate into modern English for your convenience. I'm using only verses that specifically condemn homosexual behavior, though there are others that hint at its sinfulness. The following are from both the Old and New Testaments.)1. Leviticus 18:22. וְאֶת־זָכָר לֹא תִשְׁכַּב מִשְׁכְּבֵי אִשָּׁה תּוֹעֵבָה הִוא׃("You shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.")2. ("If a man also lies with mankind, as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination...")

3. Romans 1:27. ὁμοίως τε καὶ οἱ ἄρσενες ἀφέντες τὴν φυσικὴν χρῆσιν τῆς θηλείας ἐξεκαύθησαν ἐν τῇ ὀρέξει αὐτῶν εἰς ἀλλήλους ἄρσενες ἐν ἄρσεσιν τὴν ἀσχημοσύνην κατεργαζόμενοι

The last Greek word there is ἀρσενοκοίται, arsenokoitai. What does it mean, Bob? Arsenokoitais comes from two words, ársēn, a male, and koítē, a bed. 5. 1st Timothy 1:9-10. The verse clearly speaks against homosexuality. The word in the Greek is once again ἀρσενοκοίταις, arsenokoitas (see my note above).
