The Nuer/Dinka have been cattle raiding enemies for centuries. Recently the stakes were raised with the ever increasing oil revenue.
The Lou Nuer cannot sit idly by and watch their arch enemy the Dinka exert control over the state through the economic power the oil revenue gifts. Economic power or the fear of the developing strength of a historical enemy is a powerful driver for this type of civil war. History is littered with such conflicts.

Arguably these tribal groups only united in 2005 to ensure international support for secession and the initial donor investment it might attract. Secession now achieved and the gloves are coming off. The President's sacking and recent imprisonment of his cabinet colleagues cannot be seen by the international community (IC) as a gesture of inclusion.

Resource wealth and in South Sudan's case oil is the driver of this instability. The tribal desire and/or an individual's desire to covet this wealth is likely to be the dominant force. Somehow the wealth the oil brings needs to be shared equitably.

Perhaps the IC might have to intervene and develop attractive proposals to coax the protagonists to the table. If these proposals are inclusive and equitable then there is significant potential to develop a sustainable peace process. The SS political leaders will have to compromise otherwise the future looks very uncertain for the region.

The IC is a court not a government.

If there is real concern about the situation unfolding in the South Sudan War (or in Central African Republic or Syria), the root cause of all wars, which can now be easily eliminated, must be understood and confronted.

In South Sudan for instance, the deputy President wishes to become the President and therefore organised a military campaign to achieve his aim. The President however, wishing to remain in power has organised a counter military campaign. Neither of them is directly affected by the fighting or widespread devastation caused; but because of them, their soldiers and communities are being killed en-mass, strafed, raped and made destitute as refugees.
This traditional pattern of war is repeated again and again, but the usual response of the world's population is to allow such sad drama to play out unless the dangers of particular conflicts threaten its direct existence.

As in other serious political quarrels that lead to wars, peace-keeping soldiers would be sent in as potential 'sacrificial lambs' and aid agencies would have to ply their vocation of pity because of the personal ambitions of warring political leaders - when all these could be easily prevented.

The world needs to know that the above pattern of war can now be easily eliminated so as to render the worldwide occurrence of wars obsolete.

However, the efficient war preventive mechanism detailed in the published book Unchecked, They'll Kill Us All: All Wars Can Be Prevented! -which has been distributed to most of the world's national political leaders- cannot be laid bare in such opinion avenues as this may be construed as 'engendering free publicity' for new initiatives!

Currently, the main set-back to accepting the war preventive measures seem to be the certainty (if worldwide war prevention would be obtained) of eliminating both the traditional privilege of national political leaders to declare war on their colleagues and their continuing historically-proven failed mediation efforts to achieve total global war prevention - in favor of a new pan-global independent and apolitical body for resolving serious political quarrels and prevent the initiation of war by anyone, anywhere. Modern-day facilities to help achieve these objectives are already available.
