Stuff like this, along with the Rev. Al & his cronies at MSNBC, constantly reliving History & the sins of our fathers on a daily basis will serve to incite race riots......

Gamblour • 10 years ago

What an absolute waste of time and resources this is. At this point, what difference does it make?

They're 'morons'...
They'd be better off taking time to do something about this.....

Each year, roughly 7,000 blacks are murdered. Ninety-four percent of the time, the murderer is another black person.

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, between 1976 and 2011 there were 279,384 black murder victims. Using the 94 percent figure means that 262,621 were murdered by other blacks. Though blacks are 13 percent of the nation's population, they account for more than 50 percent of homicide victims. Nationally, the black homicide victimization rate is six times that of whites, and in some cities it's 22 times that of whites. Coupled with being most of the nation's homicide victims, blacks are most of the victims of violent personal crimes, such as assault and robbery.

The magnitude of this tragic mayhem can be viewed in another light. According to a Tuskegee Institute study, between the years 1882 and 1968, 3,446 blacks were lynched at the hands of whites. Black fatalities during the Korean War (3,075), Vietnam War (7,243) and all wars since 1980 (8,197) come to 18,515, a number that pales in comparison with black loss of life at home. It's a tragic commentary to be able to say that young black males have a greater chance of reaching maturity on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan than on the streets of Philadelphia, Chicago, LA, Detroit, Oakland, Newark and other cities.

Kids can't even go outside & play after school!!!

gramps,.........PS

Recently a person was shot in Dorchester/ Roxbury section of Boston ....The Police showed up 'minutes' later....They found the dead man & 22 people in the immediate area....&....NOBODY SAW NOTHING !! ....As Obama, looks the other way.

Of what relevance is your hyperbolic rant to a case of an innocent child who was a victim of a racist "judicial" system? Your statistical analysis is a misplaced euphemism for the tragic electrocution of a 14 year old child. Your effort to trivialized his death is outrageous. Get a life.

georgebush12 • 10 years ago

no! its white people that kept them enslved for hundreds of years and then wrote jim crow laws to keep them oppress up into the 1960s.

TiredProgrammer • 10 years ago

The problem with your statement is that you can't prove that the "child" was innocent!

Lyndia • 10 years ago

Can't PROVE he was guilty either.

Reza Kantal • 10 years ago

True. According to the constitution, every defendant must be given the benefit of reasonable doubt.

But I don't think this young boy received that. And he should have a new trial.

Billy Bumtrip • 10 years ago

He was judged so by a jury.

Lyndia • 10 years ago

Since you are not satisfied with the president, you are ALWAYS welcome to leave.

Billy Bumtrip • 10 years ago

Don't talk to Gramps that way. Have you no respect for the elderly?

georgebush12 • 10 years ago

whites are the 2nd group that kills itself by the thousands every year. in some centuries they killed themselves by the millions around the world. the white race is not a peaceful race.

Billy Bumtrip • 10 years ago

But white people evolved.

BigZim • 10 years ago

Sweet Jesus Billy! Preach that Gospel Preach it!!! Thank You SIR!!!

Chris Caley • 10 years ago

As a South Carolinian, I can assure that making an adjustment to our culture's moral compass is never a waste of time. We are the best people of the Union because we strive to be.

Karmaholic • 10 years ago

Not all South Carolinians strive to be their best, especially in the SC Justice system where there are plenty of appointed Judges who remain biased and prejudiced despite the weight of evidence that proves otherwise. Many SC Judges today have not evolved in the past century.

Chris Caley • 10 years ago

What "justice" system in America does. I will however point out that SC had the first ever black Supreme Court Justice in America...Justice John Wright who after was chosen after his role in shaping the SC Constitution in 1868. When did the United States appoint a black American? 1967...a hundred years later? Those pesky little facts sure do get in the way of the liberal agenda don't they?

Sandra • 10 years ago

I live in SC for 6 years now. I have seen and heard with my own eyes and ears the racism. Its like we are STILL back then. Doesnt matter their profession. It is EVERYWHERE. Dont kid yourself. No political agenda needed. It sickens my stomach.

Karmaholic • 10 years ago

Same here. I left SC in disgust after hearing an appointed Judge's bias and ignoring facts and preferred to go fishing rather than work for the protection of a minor. Not saying everyone is bad, but SC, despite some historical anomalies, is still nauseating when it comes to fair justice for all people.

Chris Caley • 10 years ago

That seems like an extreme response to me, but you are free to make those choices. But you should recognize that injustice is not a monopoly of the state. How did you feel when two black teenagers in Kansas poured gasoline all over the 13 yo white child and lit him ablaze only to have the black community come out in support of the arsonists? Did you protest the Black Panthers calling for a lynching of George Zimmerman in Florida? How did you feel after the white teen was attacked by a black mob in Columbia, SC while jogging and Eric Holder said that hate crimes don't protect white people. Justice for all you say? You seem articulate but be careful your white guilt does not overwhelm you potential for reason when reviewing events both historically and presently. It can lead to some very dangerous legislative outcomes in what is otherwise billed as a "free society".

Chris Caley • 10 years ago

Racism and hate is everywhere. Especially if that's what you are programmed to see. Try Ohio or California if you want to see hate in all its shades. Go to New York City where the Mayor believes that stopping and frisking minorities keeps the street safe for whites, or where Lewis Farrakhan says all whites and Jews should be wiped out. Try Washington where racist like Al Sharpton and Sheila Jackson Lee bait for political truck. And lets not leave out the vitriol of the left who hates everyone for reasons from others religious views to their political and cultural views. But at the same time, don't confuse cultural prejudice or bias for racism, as the left is want to do. Free association and making lifestyle choices is one of the few traits that specifically defines humanity.

Do you see racism everywhere George?

Billy Bumtrip • 10 years ago

If you look for something hard enough you will find it even if it doesn't exist. Let Sandra enjoy her paranoia.

Reza Kantal • 10 years ago

Please, be honest. After the Civil War, South Carolina was occupied and politically controlled by the North. Under supervision of the NORTHERN federal government was John Wright appointed. not by southerners.

The federal government appointed him, not the racist enslavers of South Carolina.

Chris Caley • 10 years ago

You seemed to have missed my point Reza. Regardless of who appointed him, he WAS a Justice and he DID work to construct the SC Constitution. Therefore he too was culpable for however the culture of SC shook out, which by the way is no different than anywhere else in America.. Liberals try to make everything black and white. It's not.

Guest • 10 years ago

The difference is the face of an innocent child who was grabbed, tortured into confession, and murdered. What difference would it have made----after all, he was a negro. Since you are so naive and in denial, this child is a reminder that many people today are in a similar situation of being wrongly convicted, imprisoned, and executed

Guest • 10 years ago

God! This story is unbelievable tragic. Three young children dead, and a guilty psycopathic monster most likely left free to live a full and happy life inflicting pain on others. So sad.

Billy Bumtrip • 10 years ago

Yes, after all the girls were White. The 14 year old Black boy was justified in killing them because of all the years of racial oppression. Yeah, right.

BigZim • 10 years ago

Exactly Billy! That is just exactly how they feel and believes! THANK YOU Sir!!!!

Dee • 10 years ago

It makes a difference to the decendents of the victim and the boy who was electrocuted for the crime. It is part of their history, they either have a murderer in their family tree or a victim of our racist past. Time does not heal all wounds.

Guest • 10 years ago

To me, it makes the same difference as bringing a Nazi war criminal to justice even though they may be at death's door. Just like there was a time in Europe's past where criminals were allowed to murder Jews with impunity or even the sanction of the state, there was a time in the past of this country where it was the same for blacks, immigrants, and many others. If there is evidence to clear the name of someone who was a victim of judicial racism, xenophobia, or ethnic hatred, then their name should be cleared. It is not just a matter of justice. It is a matter of history.

Leo Frank was pardoned nearly a century after he was wrongly convicted of murder and lynched by an angry white mob. His pardon did a lot to heal the rift between Jews and Southern Whites.

raysgirl • 10 years ago

Yeah, but to be sure we have the right guy. . .seems like justice was too swift and not really just.

LogicalPosition • 10 years ago

No, justice was served! You are ASSuming the courts and law enforcement of the time was incorrect or corrupt or inept. No, they were competent, and made decisions based on evidence. Look at the stats on Black on White crime today. Was it any different in 1944?

raysgirl • 10 years ago

Just incorrect. There was a deathbed confession by someone else taking credit for the crime. I would imagine two little white girls being found dead outside their own neighborhood put tremendous pressure on the police to solve the crime.

Guest • 10 years ago
raysgirl • 10 years ago

The article indicates there is one. I would guess the lawyer working this may some evidence or a name.

Billy Bumtrip • 10 years ago

Or it may be just BS

raysgirl • 10 years ago

That is always a possibility, but one would think a lawyer trying to win a new trial under almost impossible circumstances would have vetted that a bit before throwing it out there.

Lyndia • 10 years ago

Didn't a man confess to this crime, on his death bed, a couple years ago? What did he actually say and to whom? That is what I would like to know.

starrry • 10 years ago

To those of you who think this was justice, I think you will feel differently when it is you or your loved one who is being accused. I don't know the truth in this situation, but the case against the boy sure sounds flimsy to me. I think exonerating the boy if the evidence could be found to support it, would be a healing gesture. In my opinion, some of the other commenter's racism comes through loud and clear. Remember, there are people of all colors and races who commit crimes. Personally, the only crimes that have been done to me have been done by white males, but I don't judge all white males badly because of that ...

You shouldn't use the word "vermin" to describe them. They are properly called liberals.

Find a different word liberal. You people have shaken all the magic out of that old hat and it has no power left.
