A lap of honour is only appropriate if you've achieved something, or given the fans great entertainment with impressive performances throughout the season.
A very poor team trawling around the depths of League One, does not fit into this category. In fact it's a joke, similar to some of the recent surveys. What next ? Civic reception for avoiding relegation ?

As most of them won't be here next year they couldn't careless what the fans think of them

The main word is honour! If you think that this season's performances have been honourable then I'm afraid I have to disagree.
About a month ago I thought Nouble would be worth keeping. I have certainly changed my mind now.

NO NO NO. Why on Gods earth would anyone want to see and clap these people who call themselves football players. They were a disgrace as they have been for the majority of the season. I left immediately as Crewe scored the third, I did not want to see them at the end and I'm a season ticket holder.
I have seen comments that they should at least thank the fans, for what? Those fans at the end will be their no matter how s**t we are, they don't need thanking.
I'm just glad that was the last home game of the season, i'm finally rid of the crap that I've been served up this season.

A lap of what? Honour? Unreal....walk of shame would be more apropriate

How can you have a lap on honour when you can still be relegated? The club made in clear in advance, Mowbray also made it clear in his weekly press conference. And that's before we lost 3-1.

Absolutely the right decision, as Mowbray said we're Coventry City, we're not celebrating staying in League One - not that they've even managed that yet!

Lap of honour? What for?

Richard Higlett • 9 years ago

Cant have a lap of honour when the season is undecided. If mid-table yes but after todays nonsense, the team dont need anymore things that make them believe theyre already on the beach. Next week is arguably the biggest game in club history in 50 years! Come on lads, sort yourselves out!

The anger inside the ground caused by the abysmal performance made the 'lap of honour' irrelevant. A handful of remaining fans meekly applauding a group of players firmly with their tails between their legs?

We think it can't get any worse Nosher, but just wait for League 2... If the players roll over and have their tummies tickled like they did today.

Bellerophon80 • 9 years ago

Well, agreed, a lap of honour would be a very ignorant exercise, but a simple collective applause directed to the fans as they left the field would have sufficed.

David M • 9 years ago

For most of them it would have been a 'lap of dishonour'.

deserve tuck all from a bad bunch of players guess pretty embarrassed how does Barton even get in the squad ? god knows

Unionstar Cov Rocker • 9 years ago

Mowbray your self and the city squad should of gone out and took what ever comes. CCFC SUPPORTERS Should decide on which they applaud or Not.

John walsh • 9 years ago

Lap of honour? Who cares, they're still the best team in Coventry.

Rebuf • 9 years ago

Wasps would argue that comment.

David Montgomery • 9 years ago

That's certainly debatable!
