Carol Glatz's article carries details that Pope Francis does not understand families and especially mothers and their children, Many women and their children face a hostile Roman Catholic church with regards to children, who have same sex preferences and who encountered and still encounter, in some places, a hostile community created by Christianity and other faiths.
A significant number of our children are in same sex relationships and are loved and accepted in the family. These relationships are not evil or dysfunctional as religious leaders are often keen to portray them. Why do religious leaders continue to do this? Ask the families aboout the reality, not the Vatican men.
Same sex relationships are not a recent thing. They have always existed but have often had to exist in secret and in private because of the 'hatred' of them generated by the various leaders of influential Faith groups.
This hatred of family members with same sex preferences and in same sex relationships which has long been promoted by faith groups is one of the very real threats that religion poses to happiness in families and peace in the community.
Mothers have had to deal with this and try to combat the destructive influences such attitudes and teachings bring to the fabric of family life.
What are the religious leaders trying to do?
Francis needs to realise that the insights into gender preference and genetic make up of humanity are not deviances but examples of the complexity of creation.
These differences need to be recognised and the relationships of such members of the human race are worth celebrating just as joyfully as hetrosexual relationships.
