This hatred of family members with same sex preferences and in same sex relationships which has long been promoted by faith groups is one of the very real threats that religion poses to happiness in families and peace in the community. Mothers have had to deal with this and try to combat the destructive influences such attitudes and teachings bring to the fabric of family life. What are the religious leaders trying to do? Francis needs to realise that the insights into gender preference and genetic make up of humanity are not deviances but examples of the complexity of creation. These differences need to be recognised and the relationships of such members of the human race are worth celebrating just as joyfully as hetrosexual relationships.
