Hi Sureyea,
While searching your blog on Google, along with blog name many categories are also displayed in search results..! I've seen many other websites and blogs displaying like this. How can I do that for my blog?

Sureyea • 10 years ago

A ha! That is Sitelinks and Google shows the results automatically if the links are useful for your users. Here is more detail about Sitelinks. https://support.google.com/...

Joseph • 10 years ago

Hi Sureyea,
That really helped. Thanks a lot for the info.. Sorry for the trouble.. I asked that because I'm a beginner in this field.

One more doubt, did you've any posts regarding how to show pages on bottom of the blog - like you've done for your blog (Privacy Policy, Contact Us)..? Also, is it possible to change the URL of Static Pages on Blogger?

Thanks, such blogger tutorials seem simple but never get old

DO i have to submit sitemap on both webmaster and robots.txt file or i just have to pcick one to submit my sitemap? thanks

Sureyea • 10 years ago

Submitting it on both will be a better idea. By submitting sitemap in Google webmaster tools you will come to know the number of pages crawled, submitted and indexed by Google. By adding the sitemap in your robots.txt file other search engines will find easy to discover your sitemap. Moreover you can submit your sitemap to Bing webmaster tools

Ataur Rahman • 10 years ago

Thanks for solving my problem. I put your code in my blog. Really nice content.

Raju sharma • 10 years ago

i have submitted sitemap 2 days before but is is not showing index sign.

mcpasin • 10 years ago

To everyone who is getting errors like "invalid URL": try to test/submit these sitemaps. Use the first one if you have a blogger default domain, and the second if you have your own custom domain. Just paste the second part of the URL (starts from "atom"). It worked for me!

Blogger – Default URL
http://blogname.blogspot.co...

Blogger – Custom URL
http://blogname.com/atom.xm...

thanks bro, really usefull. God bless you ..

MuNnA • 10 years ago

Thanks For the information. There is any necessity to update the site map after every post or it will be updated automatically?

BTN Editorial Staff • 10 years ago

No! You don't have to update your sitemap. If you exceed 500 posts then add the following line in your robots.txt file

Sitemap: yourblogname.blogspot.com/a... color="#DF7401">501</font>&max-results=500. And when you exceed 1000 posts add another line.
Sitemap: yourblogname.blogspot.com/a... color="#DF7401">1001</font>&max-results=500. Keep adding for every 500 posts.

Indiaspirituality • 10 years ago

Thank you. My blog has more than 580 posts. I can add second code to robot.txt, but how to submit it to webmaster.google.com ?

Kind Regards

Blog Time Now • 10 years ago

Google let's you to add multiple sitemaps so just submit another sitemap. The only limit for sitemap in webmaster tools is that the file size should not be greater than 10 MB and the sitemap should not exceed 50000 URLs, so we are just splitting it.

imuzcorner • 10 years ago

I tried to submit my sitemap in webmaster tools as your way, but it displays "sitemap is not submitted. becaues the url is not a valid" error message why?

Blog Time Now • 10 years ago

It works. Try submitting your sitemap again. Just submit this --- atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

appan.pks • 10 years ago

Sir, Really sitemap is NOT WORKING.SAY" Error occurred while testing a Sitemap. Reason: The URL you entered is invalid. Please make sure you have typed it correctly and that it uses the proper syntax and try again. " Please Check.Thank You.

Sachin Karpe • 10 years ago

Great Info, thank you for sharing such a wonderful suggestions. I have tried it and got success. Once again thank and keep updating with new things. Really helpful

Alexander • 10 years ago

Why just not use an YOURBLOGNAME.blogspot.com/s... "True" XML sitemap is already there and it's worked.

It's better not use an Allow: directive into robot.txt. Cos not all crawlers know it (read robots.txt specification)
"Allow: /" = "Disallow: " (read this as "disallow nothing")

So, this final look for robot.txt is:

User-agent: *
Disallow:
Disallow: /search
Sitemap: http://yourname.blogspot.co...

Jayem • 10 years ago

I am a newbie. Site is new.I have submitted the site map on 30th Mar. The indexing column shows 'pending'. However, the Advanced tab of Google Index says my URLs are blocked by robots.txt file. The Blocked URLs window under Crawl shows the following analysis
User-agent: Mediapartners-Google
Disallow:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /search
Allow: /

Sitemap: http://www.ourindiatoday.in...

How to remove Block so that my pages appear in the search results? Thanks

Sureyea • 10 years ago

I can see your pages are indexed in Google search results.
