Seriously, fuck springboard video player.
THERE ARE FAST TRAVEL STATIONS!?
THANK YOU GEARBOX! THANK YOU!
One of my few complaints with the original's expansions (besides complaining about the Moxxi DLC as a whole) was that there was no fast travel. Especially in General Knoxx, where you had to monotonously drive through the six maps or however many there were back and forth over and over and over and over and over and over again to do all the sidequests really got on my nerves. My joy upon hearing there are fast travel stations is off the deep end.
Oh, and it's great to hear that it's just as good as the main game. That's important too.
BUT FAST TRAVEL STATIONS. YEAH!
This. Just...this.
Even with a severe sinus headache, I was to able highly enjoy this with some friends earlier today. Something I can't say the same for a lot of games. Ultimately, the genius dialogue + more loot is what makes anything Borderlands 2. Gearbox really has something special at this point.
Borderlands is getting pretty depressing for me. Some of the missions just seem kinda sad. Like that one guy who wanted to leave Pandora and ends up getting killed by some Hyperion storage thing. I mean i guess it's supposed to be funny, but it's not very optimistic for me, I just end up feeling really bad :(
I hope this is a bit more up spirited to my taste
Great review. I feel like gearbox is one of only a few developers who can see DLC as a great tool for story extension rather than a way of slowing used games sales and making extra post game money. Luckily Borderlands feels like a good fit for extra content like this with the main draw being introducing interesting characters wrapped around a whole bunch of loot.
There is but one problem with this.
And that problem is:Lockouts.
I dont know why gearbox decided this was a good idea but having lockouts that make bosses beatable only once a day was a good idea but it aint.
To get even one seraph weapon, you need to kill these guys about 10 to 15 times.
And seraph weapons dont seem to be nearly as useful than what grinding a couple of hours for legendaries can get you.
Its a great DLC but this was a stupid idea.
Did Bobbum man bring his Equipmunk?
For make grief in your underneaf.
get this man writing some more! his reviews are excellent.
I'm enjoying it. It's not phenomenal, but it's better than everything the first game had to offer post launch (sans General Knoxx), so this is good news for future DLC.
In gaming nirvana right now.
This and XCOM: Enemy Unknown together in one week.
Nice to see another Leray review! I gave up on Borderlands 2 relatively quickly, but glad to see that lots of people are enjoying it.
Seems decent enough, haven't finished the Main Story yet, 'tho...
Also, the BL2 Season Pass is 20 % off at Getgames.
Really hope they'll have a "Zombie Island of Dr. Ned" Style DLC coming up,
by far my favourite one from the Original, 'twas a hell of lot of Fun !!
Obligatory Captain Scarlet theme: http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I was joking the other day how Borderlands could be a nihilistic critique of the industry's overemphasis on redundant materialism as a means for existential fulfilment... if it weren't so overtly about little more than shooting. Delighted to see I'm not the only one seeing a bit of a missed opportunity. :)
Fantastic article, always a joy to read a Leray.
Dammit, you got the reference I wanted to give first! :P
Ah, anyway, here's the ending theme. http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I need this game! But I must resist... wait for the Game of the Year Edition... It look's so good!!
I wonder how weird it is for Burch to have his game be reviewed by his friends. Good thing it's mostly praise otherwise that'd be an awkward Dtoid reunion.
Thank you for the review. I wasn't enjoying true vault hunter mode so I started a new character with the intention of entering Oasis immediately. Now after reading your review I'll just use the old level 36 character.
Tonight, I will enjoy this the way any refined individual should. Drunk and with internet friends.
I don't have money to get it yet, but I'm starting a new character with Zer0 anyway (just got to Sanctuary with him last night). So I'm okay with waiting a bit. Sounds fun a shit, though.
I've been playing this DLC and I can confirm that it is exactly more Borderlands.
Level 36 in TVHM. Starting this tonight.
Gotta make sure I don't accidentally fast travel there before I finish the base game. I did that with some of the original game's DLC and it screwed up leveling/balance badly since the DLC sets itself to match your level the first time you go there.
This'll be the third time I say these words today, but fuck it.
That is one fine ass double amputee.
That game is too hard so I won't get this, already regret buying the actual game.
Instead of whatever DLC you have planned next, Gearbox, just throw in a patch that'll offer me an easy mode. I'll like it much more then.
Borderlands 2 is everything but hard, unless you're just blasting through the main quest line and not carefully managing your loadout. But if you did that, you'd be effectively playing the game wrong.
I was doing every possible side-quest before I gave up.
This review gives the same info as a 2 sentance preview. Its pirate themed. Its endgame. Other than that its just the author literally rambling. Pretty lame...
Several Fast Travel
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand sold!
Once I level up some more
