For Alberto to shrug off and indeed the US own propaganda campaigns against Iraq and the expansion of that illegal war into Afghanistan, Yemen , Libya and Syria today (and indeed into the Horn of Africa) is to deny the reality of what so many people believe in the US and across the world today ....
"Amrerica created ISIS" (as Rand Paul so rightly pointed too)

Indeed, no one can read the Israel Lobby and note the US Zionist apologist warning of "next" to Syria during the Iraq
war and discount this either. No. Sir, no one....
http://www.lrb.co.uk/v28/n0... )

In addition, to how the US used the media to demonize other leaders and states to rally the troops and sign others on as "colaition partners " onto such illegal wars and lawlessness
in the name of wiping out evil and promoting "democracy and freedom " See Afghanistan (URL) A threat to Plunder
http://www.nytimes.com/2010...

Yet this is nothing new in the American experience as pointed out the late US Historian Howard Zinn who opposed the Viet-nam war..and all wars as government terrorism against others
http://progressive.org/news...

Now, that the curtain of corruption has been unveiled there is
a need for a moral reckoning to occur as this corruption of US/
Foreign policy cannot and will not be morally supported as re-
presenting "a good in the world" Very much like the shocking
inequality of wealth Wall Street has come to symbolize today.

Including, the propping up of the racist Zionist land thieves in
Palestine today. They must go as others before them have (at
least those who came after 1967 war ) and Palestine should
be restored to the Palestinian people.

There is no need for a Jewish state or a Christan state or Muslim state in today's human right world. All states should embrace the rights of all its people.)Otherwise, they are racist
& should be boycotted &isolated until they are in compliancce.

Dee

Addendum

Thomas Jefferson, the American Patriot noted over 200 years ago "all eyes are opening to the rights of man" He predicted monarchies & dictatorships would fall or be removed. How
ight he was when one considers Ghandi historic truth which continues on its merry way today even though it fought. (Yet
it is a losing battle for those leaders involved and they should
only expect more isolation & abandonment.)

Yet the good news there states and leaders who recognized Jefferson enlightment enjoy democratic & human rights a
and have little or no need for armies or military power. (Oh,
yes, the US has gotten off rail and its outlaws must be reined
in and charged accordingly .) After Nuremberg, there is no justifying state lawlessness and the courts' enabling of this.( There were separate trials for the Justices /Courts in Germany
who promoted Hitler's wrong doing and war crimes too.)

"When I despair, I remember that all through history the
ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants, and murderers, and for a time they can seem in-
vincible, but in the end they always fall. Think of it--always. " Mahatma Gandhi

America never uses media to court the confused "with kindness" or recruit soldiers to commit atrocities abroad. never.

This girl may be 20-23 but she is a child. she lives with her grandmother in the middle of nowhere. she is lonely. Bored. and still adolescent. This is normal behavior for a teenager. They are always attracted to the "occult" from music to magic and Christianity. There is no concern here, Stop exagerating it. If a pedophile contacted her first she would have talked to him on twitter. She just needs mentoring, and a job, and a purpose. Sadly lacking in violent individualist sink or swim america..She wold not make a journey or commitment. She is a confused fickle playful young girl, naive and silly. And you whip this up to manufacture fear and consent for a fascist corporate war against humanity and democracy. shame shame on you. Get real jobs NPR. get a life.

The caller that compared the US recruiting effort to that of ISIS had a point in my opinion. I don't know why the guest's reply was that it was a fantasy question and didn't deserve a response. The hell it didn't. The host took the call. We'll take people from all over to fight in our army. Don't we offer them citizenship if they put in their time? ISIS recruits from all over too. They tell them they'll belong. What is citizenship but entry into a club? These clowns do believe that what they're doing is right, however misguided. In some ways it just doesn't seem significantly different than the patriotism and sense of rightness the U.S. had after 9/11. We were pretty sure we were doing the right thing going into Iraq. How many had to die in that effort as a result of our wrong-headed idea? But don't get me wrong. I'm not supporting ISIS or their ideas that can support the beheading of 1000 people. I don't really get that at all. I just think the guest's response was disingenuous.

And for the base of this mendacity look no further than those who populate MEMRI as Baelfire and Mean_Girl

The caller John, at 32:49, asks," how were people recruited to kill a million Iraqi citizens and displace 4 million more ".
To me it's a good question. Our own free corporate press sold the story, sold the lies. This segment is about the propaganda techniques from elsewhere, from overseas. For the propaganda
techniques here at home the very same hour qualifies.

Not exactly a reliable information source, simply more
"wag the dog", neocon Zionism. MEMRI's Board of Advisors includes such "luminaries" as Donald Rumsfeld, John Ashcroft, Paul Bremer, John Bolton, William Bennett. In other words the whole wacko crew which helped bring us the War on Terror: Special Deception Unit: IRAQ. And MEMRI is on the dole: we fund it to lie to us. Watch for his spin.

The Center for Media and Democracy:
Middle East Media Research Institute
Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) is a Israeli
propaganda organization that selectively translates materials from the Arab/Muslim/Iranian press purportedly demonstrating hostility against Israel/Jews. According to the MEMRI web site: "MEMRI emphasizes the continuing relevance of Zionism to the Jewish people and to the state of Israel."

Mondoweiss:
State Department beneficiary, MEMRI, is dedicated to bringing Israeli ideas about Arab world and Iran into U.S. establishment
Yesterday’s $200,000 grant from the State Department to the Middle East Media Research Institute, or MEMRI, whose boards are loaded with Bush-era neocons, including Elliott Abrams, John Bolton and Bernard Lewis, is shocking news.

What about home grown white supremacist terrorist…? Charleston, SC?

Dana85 • 8 years ago

And our commander in chief describes Islam as the "Religion of Peace®" and pretends Islam has nothing to do with Islamic State.

Meanwhile the Koran, the Religion of Peace's handbook faithfully followed and implemented by ISIS, gives these instruction on how to deal with infidels (unbelievers):

They are the Muslim's "inveterate enemies" (Sura 4:101). Muslims are to "arrest them, besiege them and lie in ambush everywhere" (Sura 9:5) for them. They are to "seize them and put them to death wherever you find them, kill them wherever you find them, seek out the enemies of Islam relentlessly" (Sura 4:90). "Fight them until Islam reigns supreme" (Sura 2:193). "Cut off their heads, and cut off the tips of their fingers" (Sura 8:12).

I don't know why some people on the Right want to declare a religious crusade against Islam, instead of the standard campaign against Jihadists.

There could be several reasons. One reason could be that many conservative Christians think the simple solution to Muslim terrorism is for Christians to go into Muslim countries and convert them into Christianity. As a strategy, this sounds very labor intensive and expensive so, it's dead on arrival.

What happened next tracks closely with the recommendations in a manual written by Al Qaeda in Iraq, the group that became the Islamic State, titled “A Course in the Art of Recruiting.”

The pamphlet advises spending as much time as possible with prospective recruits, keeping in regular touch. The recruiter should “listen to his conversation carefully” and “share his joys and sadness” in order to draw closer.

Then the recruiter should focus on instilling the basics of Islam, making sure not to mention jihad.

This is no different from what every evangelical group or cult does: preying on the vulnerable and lonely by showering them with attention and acceptance, building trust and slowly indoctrinating the person into the rules of the cult or religion.

Blagh, blagh, blagh. Same old, same old.

Geheran1958 • 8 years ago

The fundamental attraction of ISIS for devout Muslims is its "purity", strict adherence to the tenets of Islam and the example of Mohammad. Absent a strategy to reform or modify those elements of the Islamic belief system that ISIS uses to justify its ruthless behavior, the West will remain stuck in its no-win, half-hearted military action and ISIS will remain stuck in seventh century Islam.

". . . in six months it could take out ISIS completely,"

Poor Rudy, his eyes are open, his mouth moves, but his integrity (such as it was) has long since departed.
He has no military experience at all despite his puffed up "war-speak". What is it with these right wing chicken hawks? Did they learn nothing from the last U.S. military "adventure" they claimed would be a cakewalk?

Mediate (via Fox News):
Giuliani: U.S. Could Take Out ISIS in Just ‘6 Months’
“I believe, if the United States wanted to, in six months it could take out ISIS completely,” Giuliani said, talking up the U.S.’s special forces. “ISIS is a threat that a good president, with the military we have, could take out in six months.”

Irish Central:
Rudy Giuliani, the ultimate hypocrite on love, war and love of country
Giuliani recently told an audience in Arizona "I would go anywhere, any place, anytime, and I wouldn't give a damn what the President of the United States said, to defend my country. That's a patriot. That's a man who loves his people. That's a man who fights for his people. Unlike our President.”

Going to see and hear Steve Earle tonight, so this song of his comes to mind as apropos:

"Rich Man's War"
Jimmy joined the army 'cause he had no place to go
There ain't nobody hirin' 'round here since all the jobs went
Down to Mexico
Reckoned that he'd learn himself a trade maybe see the world
Move to the city someday and marry a black haired girl
Somebody somewhere had another plan
Now he's got a rifle in his hand
Rollin' into Baghdad wonderin' how he got this far
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man's war

Bobby had an eagle and a flag tattooed on his arm
Red white and blue to the bone when he landed in Kandahar
Left behind a pretty young wife and a baby girl
A stack of overdue bills and went off to save the world
Been a year now and he's still there
Chasin' ghosts in the thin dry air
Meanwhile back at home the finance company took his car
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man's war

When will we ever learn
When will we ever see
We stand up and take our turn
And keep tellin' ourselves we're free

Ali was the second son of a second son
Grew up in Gaza throwing bottles and rocks when the tanks would come
Ain't nothin' else to do around here just a game children play
Somethin' 'bout livin' in fear all your life makes you hard that way

He answered when he got the call
Wrapped himself in death and praised Allah
A fat man in a new Mercedes drove him to the door
Just another poor boy off to fight a rich man's war

I'll show my age by tossing this CCR song into the mix:

Some folks are born, made to wave the flag
Ooo, they're red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
Ooo, they point the cannon at you, Lord

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no

Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand
Lord, don't they help themselves, y'all
But when the taxman comes to the door
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yeah

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no

Yeah, yeah
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord
And when you ask 'em, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer "More! More! More!", y'all

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, one
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no, no, no
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate son, no, no, no

these tunes are getting me pumped lets flex at some congress dbags.

Every official that comes in

Cripples us leaves us maimed

Silent and tamed

And with our flesh and bones

He builds his homes

Southern fist

Rise through tha jungle mist

Clenched to smash power so cancerous

A black flag and a red star

A rising sun loomin' over Los Angeles

Cause for Raza livin in La La

Is like Gaza on to tha dawn of Intifada

Reach for tha lessons tha masked pass on

And seize tha metropolis

It's you that it's built on

Everything can change on a new years day

Everything can change on a new years day

Everything can change on a new years day

And everything changed on a new years day, c'mon

War within a breath

It's land or death

War within a breath

It's land or death

War within a breath

It's land or death

War within a breath

It's land!

Their existence is a crime

Their seat their robe their tie

Their land deeds

Their hired guns

They're tha crime

Shots heard underground round tha rapture

Tha world's eye captured

At last in a Mexican pasture

Tha masked screaming land or death

Within a breath

A war from tha depth of time

Who shot four puppet governors in a line

Who shook all tha world bankers

Who think they can rhyme

Shot tha landlords who knew it was mine

Yes, it's a war from tha depth of time

Everything can change on a new years day

Everything can change on a new years day

Everything can change on a new years day

And everything can change on a new years day, c'mon

Oh, Hear the masked scream

War within a breath

It's land or death

War within a breath

It's land or death

War within a breath

It's land or death

War within a breath

It's land or death

It's land or death

YEAAAH!

Here's my homie trying to be patriotic

Wanna fight for Uncle Sam, so he dropped out of collegeLooking back at his friends, like you're not gonna follow? Then you're not a real American, you're heart is all hollow He enlisted, and in a couple of months was trained Jumped up on a plane with what Uncle pumped in his brain Dehumanize the enemy, accept you're there to set them free That's an oxymoron B, and that's why they're not sending me

[Split Verse]

So my homie's at his post, his eyes are never closed

He needs to recognize what's coming up this pebble road This one time he sees a van that he doesn't know

And feels this is a place that van doesn't need to go

So as they get closer, his gun is out his holster

He's doing what he's told to, spewing like a cobra

The van is full of women, children, civilians

But that doesn't stop his trigger finger from killing

He spit his whole clip, tore the van a new ceiling

And then yells out to see if anyone's still living

Out comes a mom, shaken cause her son

Was killed in front of her eyes, so was her husband

Kill 'Em all

[hook]

Kill 'Em

Fkill 'em

Kill 'em already

Kill 'em

Fkill 'em

Fkill 'em

Kill 'em already

Kill 'em

Fkill 'em
Fkill 'em

Kill 'em already

Kill 'em

Fkill 'em

Fkill 'em

Kill 'em already

Kill 'em

[Verse 2]

In his last letter home, he told her it was close

To the time he'd be getting back, but when he didn't know On extended stay, baby daughter on the way

And they, were supposed to have been married last May He was called on by his country, put him in a Humvee Go to the Middle East, police the tired, poor, and hungry On his last patrol he saw something in the road But couldn't stop in time before that something would explode A homemade device, made to take a life

Made by a man who already lost his son and wife

Made by a man whose homeland had payed the price

Of an occupation in the name of the stars and stripes

We see it every night, read it every morning

More terrorists to fight, the war must keep going

When so easy we forget, the true cause and effect

What do you tell a daughter who lost a dad that she never met?

Kill 'Em all!

[Hook]

[Verse 3]

To the troops that are dying for patriotism

Understand you're being used, and raped by the system Supposedly the heroes, but they make you the victim Strip you of your humanity, and force you to Kill 'Em In the religion of capitalism Civilian life can't compare to the stacks of a million Bucks contracted to build back up a village That was destroyed by Haliburton's thousand pound Missiles

[Split Verse]

If only life were a string, of simple yes and no

Just good vs. evil, no middle of the road

No riddles to decode, maybe then we'd be free

From constraints used to shape and polarize our beliefs

But truth is convoluted, and propaganda's thick

Find yourself at a crossfire when public opinion splits

Find yourself at a loss for any description that fits

Find yourself with a heart torn, and ripped into tiny bits
