I agree that ticks are nasty to deal with, and you really have to be careful to keep them away. I found that mowing my grass more regularly and putting up a nice wooden dog house helped reduce tick incidents. http://ruggeddiy.com/what-i...

Of course I don't go into the woods that often or I'm sure I would need some medication too.

always used a chewable that kept ticks and fleas off my last few dogs... worked like a charm....

I am using NexGard, which is made by Frontline. It is a beef flavored chew that kills fleas and ticks. I got it from my vet. It is pricey, but it is doing a good job.
