I hope they can all move past this. Josh did a despicable thing. I am though surprised he went to his parents and told them. If they were sleeping and had no idea then he got away with it. He went to his parents and told on himself and asked for help, then also asked for forgiveness from those he hurt. It bothers me that those who he hurt now have to face it knowing the world knows. I am sure they are doing ok but can you imagine how you would feel having this thrown in their faces? No matter who strong they are or how much they dealt with it those feelings come back. Been there and I would be horrified if the news plastered it everywhere. Just my 2 cents

From everything I have read so far he was the one to go to his parents. If you found something different then my apologizes. I said if they were sleeping. How do you know he kept it up? TLC came along and after that he "seems" to have got his life together. If not and he is still hurting others then for sure he belongs under the jail. I am more concerned why the Father did not report it till the statue was up. The girls appear to be well adjusted young women and they seem to be close to their brother unless it is all an act. If and I said if he has turned his life around and is trying to do better does he not deserve another chance?

It was not until a few months later that Josh admitted to his father about what he had done. He was "disciplined" but it happened again just nine months later.

Also, the father did not try to report it at all. He took Josh to talk to a state trooper (now serving 50+ years for child porn) who happened to be a friend of the family. The trooper gave Josh a "stern talking to" and that was all.

The actual police did not become involved until the Duggar family were set to appear on Oprah and someone tipped the company off about the molestation (copy of email on page 13). You will see that the email was received on December 7th at 6:30 AM and that the police first contacted the family a little after 1:00 PM that day (page 12). Shows you how quickly Oprah's company and the police responded to this information.

I would also suggest that you read more about the beliefs of this family before assuming that everything is okay with the daughters.

The default assumption seems to be that the victim is at fault for what happened. The victim is not expected to have any anger or pain as a result of the crimes committed.

These girls received no counseling (Josh received "counseling" from a man who has been accused of harassing 30+ women and teenaged girls). They were most likely taught that their abuse was their fault. Their father did nothing initially to stop the abuse and then allowed Josh to return home. I would be surprised if the daughters were truly okay with everything.

The Duggars are calling Josh a 'young teen' when he molested his sisters. When we are 15 years old, we are not 'young teens', we are 15 years old.

From many reports it was from 15 to 17. The molestations did not all happen at once then quit. It went on for several years.

There have been rumors that the reason she hasn't been allowed into a courtship is because he may have done something to her and therefore she became "damaged goods" because, as the information shows, they believe she brought that upon herself. I'm starting to feel those may not be rumors. After all, the information about Josh Duggar molesting his sisters has been around since at least 2007 and those were always shrugged off as being rumors, too.

I have always wondered about Jana. Victims of childhood molestation have a certain presence to them that other victims seem to be able to sense and she has always seemed to me to be a victim of some sort. Gothard didn't invent Quiverfull. There were earlier ideas like it, but the thing was really popularized by Mary Pride. The whole patriarchy thing is pushed by many if not most leading fundamentalists and with them Quiverfull ideas have bled over into mainstream Protestantism. Many Quiverfull adherents are Gothardites, but by far not all Gothardites are Quiverfull.
