Why was he flying in the first place. If he was deemed unfit in 2009 that should have ended any flying career then. Why doesn't the companies check on their facebook pages of their pilots and look for muslim influence. Muslim crashing planes is not an unknown occurence after all. Pilots and cockpit crew should have to go thru lots of scrutiny. They have hundreds of peoples lives in their hands daily.

I saw his facebook page that was captured before it was removed. It had muslim symbolism and writing all over it.

They could have scrutinized his facebook page. The doctor who forbade him to fly and gave him the notice of which he tore up and threw away. Should have been able to notify the airlines directly with such an important directive.i know they do scrutinize a lot. Drug test and psychiatric exams etc. But leaving the pilot to notify his superiors that he wasn't fit to fly, was really dropping the ball

ActualConundrum, Yes, these Pilots and Cockpit Crew do go through intense scrutiny. It's just that some line of investigation needs to be developed that will catch the ones who slip through the cracks; ie, give the doctors a system of reporting that protects the employee's privacy as much as possible.

I was thinking the same thing, that the doctors should by law, be required to tell the airlines or cruise ship companies, etc....that the employee is not fit to work. The public puts their trust in these pilots, captains etc.....we should be able to go on our trip without worrying about the person in charge being crazy and possibly out to kill us.

The weird thing about both of these pages if you look closely is that the Facebook page says "Andreas Lubitz Fans", and it is a new page, made after the accident. I wondered if it was something made by Muslims just wanting to take credit for it, whether the pilot was actually involved or not. It is not his personal FB page.

something is seriously wrong with this crash, first of all since 9/11 ALL cockpit doors around the world have a key pad outside the cockpit door that ALL crew members can activate, the door automatically locks and crew, pilots must use key pad to enter, there is NO way anyone in the cockpit can lock the door, this was made mandatory after 9/11 so a hijacker cant lockout a crew member.
Second, this was a 2 hr flight, pilots would never unload their bladder 30 mins. into a flight.....co-pilot knew pilot would leave cockpit. ?????
Better check out who was on the manifest list, heard some bigtime security people that were onto some banking scandal were on that plane.

Stonehillady, inside the cockpit, there is a lever that can be moved to a lock position to disable the keypad, that way if a highjacker or some other person is trying to get in, they can lock them out. Also, maybe the pilot had just had a cup of coffee and had to go, nothing unusual about that. When I drink a lot of coffee, sometimes I have to go 2 times in that 30 minute window. As for who was on that plane, it will come out after the investigation, if they choose to tell the public. But I do know there was a woman and her daughter on board, the woman was a US government contractor, but I have no idea in what capacity she worked. Might be something, might be nothing. Like I said, the investigation is still going on. Personally, I think he was a muslim convert, but that could be totally wrong too. Someone knows, but is not telling.

From what I read in another article, the cockpit door lock has three setttings: Unlocked, normal, and locked. Unlocked is obvious. Normal is when it is shut and locked, but keypad access is available from the outside. Locked is when someone in the cockpit can disable the keypad, preventing someone on the outside from getting in. That setting, according to the article, must be reset every five minutes as it reverts back to the "normal" setting automatically. A lot can happen in five minutes.
