Not this Fifth Column shit, us Hispanics get it all the time. It's all the same shit, whites projecting their fears on to people different from them, assuming we'll treat them as badly as they treat us.

Amazing how devoid of reality these people are, Islam, the religion that is constantly demonized and has no power in the US is being given privileges while Christianity which has nothing but absolute power in the US is being "marginalized"?!

What makes the "threat of Islam" powerful in the GOP psyche is that it plays two Republican fears for the price of one, people darker than them and religions that don't worship a Jewish zombie.

Jerry S • 9 years ago

Islam is demonized? By whom? Perhaps by Muslims who carry out terror attacks.
After the Muslim atrocities in Europe and over the world in the last decade, most Leftists have come to realize that Islam is incompatible with western values.

Then there are the deluded ones. Like you.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

Most leftists? Really? Where is the data for that assertion?

Get out of here with that garbage troll.

cxt • 9 years ago

Where is yours?

You don't present any, yet demand it of others.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

I frequently do, you never do and ignore any that disagree with you. You're very dishonest.

cxt • 9 years ago

If you are going to demand data the least you can do is present it yourself.

The claim I "never" do is fallacious.

The assertion that I am "dishonest" is an Ad hominem.

BTW, you are now starting to sound like Tad/Bradan in addition to Pat

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

Would be if you made an argument.

Would be great if you took your own advice for five seconds.

cxt • 9 years ago

Pot meet kettle.

I am reminded of a story about a crab who told another crab. "You are not walking straight!!!!!"

If "would be great" if you took your own advice as well.

Nathan Brittles • 9 years ago

Where is the data for yours, BS artist?

cxt • 9 years ago

Straw Men.......specifically the "fear of people darker than them and religions that don't worship a Jewish zombie" part.

But hey you got in a reference to Jews......or do you prefer to spell it "Joos?"

Nathan Brittles • 9 years ago

Uhh, no. She spells it..

Juden.........................................

cxt • 9 years ago

Ouch!

I'm half way across the planet and just standing near it stung. :)

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

Yeah, the GOP has never used white fears of blacks and Latinos to benefit themselves such as I don't know, Voter ID laws, "Welfare Queens" and other Republican acts.

I guess Jesus wasn't Jewish, which would make sense following your white supremacist logic. Blond hair and blue eyes?

cxt • 9 years ago

No, Jesus, presuming he existed, was clearly Jewish. Just don't know why you felt the need to bring the Jews into it.

I don't know what they "used to fear"---I know that is the claim of the Left. But like most Lefty propaganda saying it don't make it so.

Voter ID have no basis in fear, just the belief that you should prove you are who you say you are when you when you exercise political power, welfare queens isn't fear either, just a phase for people that cheat the system--and there are more whites on gov aid than blacks, etc.

Its all smoke and mirrors and passionate ignorance on the Left's part. Presuming they actually believe it themselves.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

The racist and sexist implications behind "Welfare Queen" has been beaten into the ground by academics in numerous fields.

The Voter ID's do have a basis, the law in Texas is significantly hampering the woman, Latino, and poor vote, the groups that vote Democrat significantly. Why should we have to do this when it's been proven repeatedly the US does not have a voter fraud issue?

Mr."I'm not a Republican" is using a lot of Republican talking points.

BurtAllen • 9 years ago

A lot of old-time moderate liberal "whites" are being left behind or pushed out by a new doctrine that seems to claim that they're all bad people.

veerkg_23 • 9 years ago

Based on what? As far as I can tell it's a semantic argument based on the English language. When in English one says - "America is a nation of immigrants", it doesn't obliviously apply to literally every-single American ever. Most people can use common-sense and figure out the meaning of the phrase. Only those who wish to miss the point on purpose seemingly can't.

BurtAllen • 9 years ago

That sounds reasonable enough, except for the part where you assume bad faith among people whose beliefs are subject to review and improvement.

veerkg_23 • 9 years ago

Are you referring to cxt? Because it's not an assumption, but a conclusion.

cxt • 9 years ago

Maybe, but does not mean its a correct "conclusion" however. ;)

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

The poster he's referring to is incapable of growth. He's also really good at purposefully ignoring obvious racism.

ThunderLizard • 9 years ago

Cheer up pal. Just because institutions are biased against non-whites that doesn't mean that every white person is "a bad person."

Don't take it personally.

BurtAllen • 9 years ago

Doesn't bother me too much, but maybe I'm an exception. What's a few million votes, more or less?

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

It's interesting, I've read a piece on that. Older liberals who are generally white feel a disconnect with the newer liberals who are much different in terms of demographics and mindset.

For example, older liberals tend to support some notions of American Exceptionalism while younger liberals think it's all a huge hunk of bullshit.

BurtAllen • 9 years ago

Your freedom to say so, unabridged, is a result of that exceptionalism, as I would perceive it. The whole thing doesn't have to come down, there's a lot of good to it, no? Attitudes need to change, but gentle persuasion is better than broad inescapable accusations, a point I'm guessing most minorities already know.

cxt • 9 years ago

There is no "racist and sexist" implication of term. Its:

A- A broad term for people that cheat the system

B-There are more white folks getting gov aid than blacks.

based on that I don't see how you get there.

Voter ID is simply not what you claim.

Further proved by minority voting rates going UP in States with such laws.

I'm sorry if reason and objectivity and facts sound like "republican talking points" to you.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

>Objectivity
> Used lefty as an insult.

Okay.

No, that's not how statistics works, let me show you.

http://www.brennancenter.or...

There is an obvious racist and sexist implication, you're literally ignoring reality. Would you say that there is nothing racist about calling a black man a monkey or a Jewish man a rat?

cxt • 9 years ago

Well YOU are the guy that brought the Jews into the discussion.

And yes, referring to blacks as monkeys and Jews as rats are racist. And personally insulting for that matter.

Oh.. I don't do " argument by link"

If its not its not important enough to take the time to quote directly then its not important enough to read.

It often does not say what the linker claims it does.

Its just a time waster.

Case in point, the link took some time to explain that you can't directly link the increase voter turnout to voter ID laws.

And he's correct, EXCEPT that is not really the argument at all. Its a rebuttal to the argument that voter ID laws are designed to SUPPRESS the vote.

See the difference?

Regardless of precisely why--the Voter IDs' laws don't suppress the vote.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

It's not a long piece, I'm not going to do your homework for you. Stay ignorant.

cxt • 9 years ago

Which this time I read--and it was a waste of time. Which I already illustrated above.

2011 for cats sake, I read it years ago.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

Yeah, I'm sure. It's a waste of time because it destroys your lazy correlation = causation.

cxt • 9 years ago

No its a waste of time because its not really the argument--as I explained above.

Again, the argument is a rebuttal to your assertion--that voter ID laws are designed to suppress the vote.

I said that in States that have such laws the minority voter turn out has gone up.

The linked piece says that other reasons may exist for that increase in voter turnout.

And, again he;s right.

Except the argument is that voter ID laws SUPPRESS the vote.

Which they don't.

you and the linked article can argue until the cows come home about not being able to directly link the 2 and its does not matter in the slightest. Not really the basic point, Which is voter suppression.

See?

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

You've literally just moved the goalposts in your own post, incredible.

cxt • 9 years ago

Nope, you just didn't really read it, kinda like you didn't really read the link you posted.

And/or you don't really understand what you, yourself post.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

No, I'm good, you're the person who seems to not able to make a coherent argument as october pointed out below.

cxt • 9 years ago

Then why don't you grasp what I'm saying?

Oh, wait, I get it, you not being able to grasp the point/s is de facto proof that OTHER people are mistaken.

Tell me is their really room, even on the internet, for you, your ego and everyone else? ;)

And I already answered October below. Or didn't you read that either?

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

The projection is amazing, I'm choking on it.

Says the man who thinks everyone else is suffering from "bandwagon fallacy" after 8-10 different people tell him he doesn't know what a straw man is.

cxt • 9 years ago

When I can factual demonstrate that they are wrong, yes.

If a bunch of people say foolish and incorrect things them they are still wrong, the number of fools is besides the point.

If you dispute my POV of what a Straw Man is then make your case.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

The best part is that you're probably serious. That's great.

cxt • 9 years ago

So that would be a "no, I have no idea what a Straw Man is and I really cant prove what I'm saying but I'm having to much fun making the accusation over and over" then?

You didn't even try---tell me how does that feel? You know to just give it up like that?

I am serious, the problem is that you are not even slightly so.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

This is beautiful, are you like this in person? Tell me, I'm surprised such an unaware person hasn't been hit by a car by now.

cxt • 9 years ago

"unaware person......hit by a car"

No, I'm actually rather well paid for my attention to detail.

Oh...that was you being "not serious" again. ;)

And notice that you again have started making Freudian slips where I'm concerned.
You managed to work the word "beautiful" into a discussion with me. Last time it was "cute" etc.

You think that its just an accident?

Are you sure?

I seem to occupy a great deal of your time and energy, you follow me around the boards, seek me out even when I don't address you, you don't like it when others talk to me, you spend hours at time and days and days with me, you insult me, in some cultures they would say you and I are married.......and have been for some time.

To me it sounds like a really bad attempt at foreplay from a person insecure in themselves. I'm "safe" to essentially flirt with with because you know we will never meet.
You disguise your attraction by hostility----but you can't maintain the pretext hence the slips like "beautiful" "cute" etc. etc.

No doubt I will be talking to you later.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

I'm sorry but what?

cxt • 9 years ago

See......told you, you simply can't stay away.

veerkg_23 • 9 years ago

The term "blacklash" would like a word with you. It's not like you guys are even new in your arguments. Jesse Helms used to love to use the civil rights movement as "proof" that blacks weren't being oppressed - if they were how are they out protesting, yada yada yada.

cxt • 9 years ago

Don't much about Helms, but if that quote is accurate its stupid.

But I do recall ex-Klansman Robert Byrd, proud Democrat.

veerkg_23 • 9 years ago

Wasn't Helms also a Democrat at one point? What happened to him?

cxt • 9 years ago

Way before my time. Honestly don't know.

SaiyanEliteVegeta • 9 years ago

The new argument I've seen is that since there are 1.5 Billion Muslims, they aren't oppressed in various countries. I guess the Chinese in Malaysia and blacks in the United States can take comfort in their 1.3 and 2 billion respectively.

Arcite • 9 years ago

Now I'm an outside observer, but it seems a tradition that GOP always need a cultural/demographic boogeyman to focus the fears and anger of the uninformed segment of their electorate to propel them to the polls. ie. gays, muslims, communists, undocumented workers, atheists ect...
