Hope we get that via update on ps4 version
"In a couple of weeks (after I get back from the Nordic Games Conference) I'll be merging the PC code to PS4, which adds the map reminders, volume controls, and major tweaks to the final boss behavior, but there won't be any big DLC in the Destiny sense." - Tom Happ on reddit
"but there won't be any big DLC in the Destiny sense."
So he won't be updating his game with pointless tweaks that make the experience worse and more convoluted than it first was? Awesome!
It's always good to see articles from Conrad <3
That said, the only upgrade the game really needs is the final boss not sucking to the point that the only way to beat it on Hard is to abuse a glitch in the game.
It has that fix, too 😃 Merging back to PS4 in a couple weeks, as well.
Thanks Thomas, MANvsGame is gonna be so happy about that. Still remember how disappointed he was when you gave him that tip lol
Yeah, I there was an earlier, worse bug that I fixed that made that boss way harder than it was originally. So I've redone the AI on it to be much more predictable.
Only way to beat it on hard to abuse a glitch?? Not so. Jump, dash up, fire inertial pulse, glitch bomb enemies and dash/inertial pulse them until dead. Rinse, repeat! :)
This post got me all nostalgic about providing this functionality myself as a kid. Fond memories of looking down at graph paper just as much as at the screen in Wizardry.
Dude I'll raise you for extra childhood nerdisms.
I rolled all my handmade maps into scrolls and kept them in a wood box.
Wow, I think you win. The best thing I still have is an old hourly calendar which I had used to record majora's mask time notes.
If you could TURN OFF the annoying alarm clock "low health" noise, tha'd be nice.
yo can you turn off being bad at the game or is that DLC?
Addendum: asking for a friend
Get a health-up you noob.
I like how in this game the low health beeps along to the rhythm of whichever music track is playing, it makes it slightly less irritating.
Not just the rhythm, it matches the key of the song.
What? Heresy! That's a staple in games. Or is that just Nintendo games?
I appreciate that Pokemon switched to a "two and done" approach. Because having to mute my sound anytime I had low life was tedious.
how. DARE YOU.
That line always gets me.
The later Castlevania games on DS let you place three markers on the map.
More map whining. Back in my days, games didn't even have maps. Seriously. The more "useful" a mini map is, the more it takes away from the gaming experience as far as I'm concerned.
The map was fine on the console version.
I would like to see UI elements, including maps, made optional in all games. Most developers aren't willing to go through the large amount of effort for a small part of their audience, though.
As I said, it meets a standard. This isn't about how games were "back in the day" (a place that I, too, come from; you should see my collection of graph paper Infocom game maps), but how they are now, in this day, and how they could be. If you're going to give me a map, ideally that map should have functions that simulate the properties of a real map. Let me zoom in and out, rotate it, and mark it up.
Certainly, there will be times when it doesn't makes sense to do this and I totally admit this is a nitpicking thing that most people neither consider nor care about. It's why I didn't complain about the lack of features in the review of Axiom Verge. Despite my personal disappointment that it was so basic, the only part that has a negative effect on gameplay relates to the amount of contrast between walls and backgrounds on the map, which I thought could have been more pronounced.
When is the Vita version coming out? I already own the PS4 and PC versions.
I am so excite :D
bike
I spend over 2 hours basically walking around in circles in this game.
I don't expect a freakin' arrow to guide me but it was WAY too hard to figure out where you're suppose to go. Especially after a break.
Meanwhile on PS Vita...
Sorry, i just had to. Vita and 3DS are all I have for Metroidvanias right now. Feels weird seeing them hit consoles first or being tied to consoles entirely now. GBA and DS spoiled me.
I got a 100% no problem without such a feature, would be nice to have though.
But that's because you have no life sweetheart.
Still waiting on the vita version
same here, i played on ps4 for a while, then stopped because I would prefer to play on Vita. They referred to the vita version as a "super high priority" on their Reddit AMA today: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAm...
I don't have a ps4 yet( hopefully this weekend) but I bought it in anticipation and to support the game
Same here too. I can't wait to play it on that sweet Vita screen on the go.
Been looking forward to finally playing this for so long now. It's been a long time coming but I'm glad it's actually coming out.
Bitch I have OCD.
I don't need a map marker to remind me of failed exploration attempts.
The crippling self-loathing and sense of inadequacy will do all the work.
