It is time for justice to be seen to be done! All criminal bankers should be jailed, without delay.

Rikardur • 8 years ago

James Harrison - You are misinformed if you think Iceland did not pay back the money that a private bank owed the British and the Dutch that put their money into a bank account that offered the highest interest on the planet at that time. After the collapse in Iceland the British and the Dutch governments tried to force Iceland into dept slavery because of Icesave but that did not work. Iceland won the EFTA court case and Iceland payed everything that they where legally obligated to pay so please stop spreading misinformation.

Why didn't you reply this to him? He's never going to see this here. He won't be notified in anyway. It's a good point and I wish he'd see it.

I don't mind the man hands... she's got a rather comely face

billjcanada • 8 years ago

Seems to me that the crooked politicians that helped the bankers in the US need jailed to. Starting with Bill Clinton who approved the removal of the constraints placed on banks after the great depression.

And his wife who supported then and still supports it today.

Dear EWAO.COM
I am from Iceland and none of this is true. There are 4 guys in jail from
the old banks and they are there for different reasons then busting the
banks. The hero finance minister Bjarni Benediktsson sold the biggest
cash cow owned by the government owned bank to his fathers brother and
his partners. He lowered the taxes on the richest 1% as well as taxes on
the fishing mafia(again 1%ers). This bank sale will not benefit anyone
except a select few unless we stop it until this government gets voted
out next year.
Don´t perpetuate a lie that hurts us living here in Iceland. This whole
article is fabrication and spin. Please publish a retraction of this
nonsense. If you truly want truth there are many Icelanders that are
willing to tell it. This is not it.

Your stupid social media buttons cover part of the text on a tablet. Fix that crap.

James Harrison • 8 years ago

Oh, arn't the Icelandics wonderful. Shame they didn't think they had a responsibility to pay back the £2.8 billion they owe the British and Dutch taxpayers first.

Danny Morrow • 8 years ago

ahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha

Morgan • 8 years ago

Maybe because they did pay their loans back?

Mario Escobar • 8 years ago

Maybe because the British never pay back all they took from Belice and Honduras Island in the caribbean!!!

Daniel W. McCullar • 7 years ago

It will never happen here in America. We have one of the most corrupt governments in the world. And in general and overall the American public is too lazy or ignorant or unwilling to do anything to make a change.

Jónas Pétur Hreinsson • 8 years ago

You realy think that the Oligarchs in the Icelandi government are going to give a penny to the common people in Iceland. There was a crash because they stole money from the nation through then banks which vent insolvent. The government since then has done nothing but make it possible for the oligarchs to steal the rest of the money from the Icelandic people. Banks have been making huge profits on loans they got at 30% value after the crash. The fishing industry has been making huge profits because the national bank has been keeping the exchange rate favourable for them. Those who stole money from Iceland and placed them in tax havens have been returning the money to invest in a broken economy at 150 to 170% over value. This is just to name a few things that is wrong in the BANANA REPUBLIC of Iceland.

Good Job

raymondschep • 8 years ago

Compensation for losing jobs, homes?? 30,000 Kr is 228 US dollars, this is a joke.

Morgan • 8 years ago

When was the last time our government gave us even $228 for putting criminals in jail and fixing their crimes? Oh right never. So even if your math was right, which its not, it would still be better then what our government did. Which was give the criminals MORE of our money.

Matt Malan • 8 years ago

...... KR30000 = USD3530 lol

Mark Joshi • 8 years ago

Morgan • 8 years ago

No. Places that have grass can NEVER be cold. EVER! (So much sarcasm)

Artemios • 8 years ago

A good year, 2015, for financial justice in Iceland. Most of the criminals convicted of severe market manipulation involving loan fraud. Maybe these convictions will serve as a warning to all corrupt officials in the bank sector every where and an encouragement to other governments.

MRX • 8 years ago

It will not, by the history we can see that those bad corrupted people do not afraid anything. And they always continue doing the same. That is neverending cycle. That is human nature. Of course there is exist the way how is possible to resolve all this problems one and for all. But people not ready yet.

Larmex99 • 8 years ago

If they tried that maneuver in most western countries there would be no financial supporters left to fund the parties in future elections. Why would the politicians what to do that?

J. David • 8 years ago

The US is also rewarding their banking criminals by using extreme military force and terrorists to install the central banking fractional reserve network in other countries.

Fin • 8 years ago

"that cost the taxpayer’s"... should be "taxpayers". No apostrophe necessary.
