I remember you was conflicted

LongshotDRC • 8 years ago

It's a sad shame that the genre's of Jazz, Blues and so many were taken out of Prime Time long ago. 12 year old Joey Alexander deserves the light shined on him. Instead of showing the no talents of hip-hop and rap the audience could see real talent at work if they'd allow him to storm out Giant Steps from those Ivory Keys. He is Art Tatum, Brubeck and about 5 long hair cats of Classical all rolled into one already. Nobody will ever know it.

boychik0830 • 8 years ago

i hope Florence and the machine and Courtney Barnett win as they deserve to over Meghan trainor or taylor swift.

korosensei • 8 years ago

Nice that the independent labels are being represented. Go August Burns Red!

Worst line up in years.

Hbwang • 8 years ago

Where is 5H at tho???

Frank • 8 years ago

If any song by Taylor should win Record of the Year, it's "Blank Space", IMO. It doesn't quite have the lyrical masterpiece of "All Too Well", but as a whole it'd be very deserving of a win for ROTY. Will be sucks for "Really Love" since it's also my favourite but I'd give that one easily to Taylor.

"Girl Crush" has an undeniably interesting and clever lyrics (although many people find it creepy as hell), so out of the five I hope it'll pull the win for Song of the Year. Second choice would be "Blank Space".

Album of the Year for Traveller please. Kendrick would've been deserving too but I liked Traveller just a little bit more.

On Best New Artist, Courtney ftw!

Eddy • 8 years ago

A list of over produced swagfags driven by lap tops. If the Beatles, Temptations, Stones, Zepplin or Smokey Robinson had todays population there would be no touching them. What if you could just click and hear a Smokey tune in 69 ?

615_Logreen • 8 years ago

Kendrick Lamar is not like that. He is legit. Listen closely to his music. Sure, he has used the internet to his advantage, but who wouldn't? You cannot tell me if the Rolling Stones had just burst onto the scene, they wouldn't use the internet to their advantage. Do your research before making outlandish claims.

Eddy • 8 years ago

Research ? I have been a professional musician for 40 years and have several records to my credit including as a session musician on over 6 gold records and 2 platinum records. The art or the true talent is to produce the musicians talent not tracks or 'samples'. Freddie Mercury wrote and produced Bohemian Rhapsody by himself 100% 35 years ago. 1 writer 1 producer. Kendrick Lamar needed 71 SEVENTY ONE people to produce that record. I wont even mention the Beatles or Motown who sat a bunch of Musicians in a room and made records that sold millions. As I said over produced , lap top wana be

Hiiipower80 • 8 years ago

You have a very shallow view of music if you think all artists need to produce 100% of everything they put out, and if not they're just "lap-top wannabees". Try listening to someone like Kendrick's lyrics and try to understand them rather than just throwing out ignorant statements.

Miguel Terel Kabigting • 8 years ago

Taylor Swift is expected to win 3-5 Grammys on Feb 16. Kendrick Lamar might win 3-4 Grammys.

rocket • 8 years ago

Sounds about right- predictable Grammy's.

Garry Boast • 8 years ago

Its a real shame how Janet was overlooked, even in the adult R&B category...the best album since since RN1814! Did they actually listen to some of the topics she discussed on the LP, not to mention that its just plain good! She doesn't need their validation though!

Amanda • 8 years ago

Janet should've been nominated in all of the R&B categories for no "No Sleeep"! It was (in my humble but, accurate opinion), the best R&B song this year. However, I'm not surprised that these ppl continue to snub Janet's music. They've always been biased against her and, that's why I can't stand the Shammy's!!!!

Brian • 8 years ago

I still don't understand why there are Latin music nominations here when there is an entire Grammy awards show dedicated to Latin music.

Emmanuel X • 8 years ago

I wish Joss Stone got some love for Water For Your Soul.

Jayden Hs • 8 years ago

Kendrick knows no boundaries.. Dance and Pop noms

Naos • 8 years ago

Well, pop is for "Bad Blood", isn't it? Or am I worng?

Jayden Hs • 8 years ago

yes, that #1 VOTY winner

Dallas Anderson • 8 years ago

Well deserved for Kendrick, Weeknd & Taylor and the GRAMMYS prove that they are about QUALITY by snubbing cheesy pathetic "artistes" like Justin Bieber & One Direction who ran away with AMAs (what a joke of an award show) because fan girls were voting in numbers influenced by their wet poonana

predictions for the BIG FOUR

Album of the Year

The nominees are Swift’s 1989, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly, the Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness, Chris Stapleton’s Traveller, and Alabama Shakes’ Sound & Color.

---PREDICTED WINNER: TAYLOR SWIFT
---PREFERRED WINNER: KENDRICK LAMAR

Record of the Year

The nominees: “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars, the Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face,” Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud,” and “Really Love” by D'Angelo and The Vanguard.

---PREDICTED WINNER: MARK RONSON & BRUNO MARS

---PREFERRED WINNER: ED SHEERAN

Song of the Year

People often ask, “What’s the difference between Record and Song of the Year”? Record of the Year is for a specific recording of a song. Song of the Year is for the song itself.

The nominees: “Thinking Out Loud,” “Blank Space,” the Little Big Town hit “Girl Crush,” the Kendrick Lamar hit “Alright,” and “See You Again,” the hip-hop smash by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth.

---PREDICTED WINNER: ED SHEERAN
---PREFERRED WINNER: ED SHEERAN

Best New Artist

The nominees: Meghan Trainor, Sam Hunt, Courtney Barnett, James Bay, and Tori Kelly. (Though Traveller is Stapleton’s solo debut album, he wasn’t entered for Best New Artist. He had previously recorded two albums as a member of the bluegrass group the SteelDrivers.)

At last year’s Grammys, Trainor was nominated for Record and Song of the Year for “All About That Bass.” So what is she doing here? Eligibility in this category is based on the release of full-length albums. (That’s pretty old-school in this song-centered era.)

Interesting tidbit:
Swift, Lamar, and Alabama Shakes are past Grammy nominees for Best New Artist. (None won, interestingly. They lost to Amy Winehouse, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and fun., respectively.)

---PREDICTED WINNER: MEGHAN TRAINOR

---PREFERRED WINNER: MEGHAN TRAINOR

Jah Cure to take home best reggae album for The Cure

William o'neal • 8 years ago

Well Bieber DID get a grammy nomination and is expected to win, although it really had nothing to do with him whatsoever.

Naos • 8 years ago

Grammys don't mean quality. "Call Me Maybe" got grammy nominations.

Yeah. That's it, it's no longer about how sophisticated your quality seem, it's about how sick your work is...,

Maz • 8 years ago

Agree for AOTY and ROTY, but i don't think Thinking Out Loud will win SOTY, its lyrics're generic, i prefer Alright and Blank Space.

I think Courtney Barnett, Sam Hunt or James Bay will win Best New Artist.

Jordan • 8 years ago

Meghan Trainor wasn't eligible because her album wasn't out until January 2015 which was way past the Grammys cut off date.

elwb • 8 years ago

I agree for Best New Artist, SOTY and ROTY. But not for AOTY. My favorite for AOTY are Stapleton, followed by Kendrick. But my preferred winner is Stapleton or Alabama Shakes.

Guest • 8 years ago
Michael Sarzer • 8 years ago

'Til it Happens to You wasn't a flop. It just wasn't promoted to pop radio.

Dallas Anderson • 8 years ago

did Gaga even have any new music out for her to be nominated for best visual media???

JustJam • 8 years ago

Swift used Carly's Kiss album as backdrop for 1989!! Hoping for another Beck/Spalding moment where James Taylor beats her. I'm very happy for Tori Kelly though. Thank you Grammies for recognizing her work!!

KTSapphire • 8 years ago

Kendrick Lamar will only win for his offering to Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood."

elwb • 8 years ago

You mean Best Pop Group Performance? I prefer Uptown Funk for that category.

Emmanuel X • 8 years ago

I agree. Bad Blood shouldn't have even been nominated. FourFiveSeconds from Rihanna should gotten a nom in pop duo or group.

elwb • 8 years ago

I forgot about FourFiveSeconds. Yes, you're right, it should be nominated instead of Bad Blood.

Jayden Hs • 8 years ago

did you even check his work

KTSapphire • 8 years ago

Not a jab at him, but the racist Grammy voters.

Jayden Hs • 8 years ago

Except for the Macklemore mess.. How are they racist

KTSapphire • 8 years ago

Take a look at their history of winners and nominees. Black people only win for doing non-black music. Hardly any rappers ever make it out of that category...unless they are white like Macklemore, Eminem, and Iggy Azalea. Shall we continue?

Jayden Hs • 8 years ago

Well, history can change in 2016. Btw, don't forget the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. Macklemore hasn't won big categories, Iggy hasn't won any.

KTSapphire • 8 years ago

I didn't say "win," but also brought up nominations. Lauryn Hill is a tired reference point. Lauryn Hill redefined several genres and released what even today is considered a flawless album. How many white artists can say the same? Beck's album was hardly his best reviewed, with no hit singles. Steely Dan had much more success prior to their win. Even Taylor Swift's Fearless album was considered more fun than artistic. Why do black artists have to reinvent the industry and have top-of-the-world success before the Grammy voters pay attention?

Jayden Hs • 8 years ago

Top of the world success? What album are you talking about?

KTSapphire • 8 years ago

Lauryn Hill's album that you referenced and I directly replied to. Kendrick Lamar, as well, had the best reviewed album of the year this past eligibility period. Kelly Clarkson put out a paint-by-numbers mimicry of all her other albums, to her lowest sales and least popular singles, and still ends up with two nominations.

Jayden Hs • 8 years ago

Yeah, that one is a huge mistake. is nominated in Pop categories, the big 4 is diverse.

KTSapphire • 8 years ago

I completely agree that the world is trying, and that art has been more acknowledged at the Grammy Awards than in the past.

Dallas Anderson • 8 years ago

Kendrick will win at least 3 grammys

Emmanuel X • 8 years ago

I think he will win best rap album. Although he should not. J. Cole had the best, most personal rap album. It was an offering with great, listenable songs unlike Kendrick.

Emmanuel X • 8 years ago

I think Mary J Blige should have gotten some recognition for The London Sessions as well. It is one of her more mature album to date.
