Excellent article Andre.

Black Lives Matter is working. The police are being less aggressive, and as a result violent crime is increasing. Bodies of young black males are stacking up in chicago, baltimore and about every other major city in America. But hey at least your voices are being heard and you feel passionate about a cause. Even if that cause is insignificant. About 1/6 of 1% of black deaths come via police officers....

jb • 8 years ago

This is typical philistine rubbish. I have to sit next to a couple of dullards like you where I work, who spew similar baseless, indefensible absurd "Rush" type claims. Less aggressive? Means??? So they should have a little more time on their hands to fight petty crime, if they don't have to spend it beating and shooting defenseless citizens? Right? What are you saying? On the other hand you're confirming that black bodies are stacking up? Since we don't know where your 1% comes from or how many that is, maybe you could enlighten us. Your statement is an ignorant incredulous obfuscation.

Violent crime may very well be increasing, but it would only be because of the decrease in opportunities for young people and generalised poverty due to the recession. Also the poorest layers of society are being squeezed by cuts to food stamps. I don't accept the assertion that police "being less aggressive" is what is driving up violent crime.

What is working from Black Lives Matter, is the illusion that they can make a difference by putting pressure on the establishment. Its not working and the aggression and stepped up surveillance will continue to grow. That movement only helps to take energy away from migrating and moving to where it should be, and that is here with the ICFI and WSWS. If there is less aggression currently it is only a bleep because the class tensions will continue to grow. Crime will continue to grow. Do they have enough police trained to contain it . The way they are trained , the deaths will continue and waves of criminal activity will also. Look to see more being played at a theatre near you.

Have you any evidence whatsoever for this assertion? Is it insignificant that many, perhaps most, US citizens cannot trust the police? Is it not scandalous on the face of it that public servants in the US can literally get away with murder? When did justice become a matter for statisticians?

Exactly my thoughts, Andre.

This FBI idiot James Comey fears that the ruling class police force will be inhibited in gunning down black youths fleeing from the cops after a rather petty crime against capitalist private property.
I still find highly relevant and instructive the speeches Malcolm X made in the last year of his life-1965.Malcolm would never tell an angry crowd aroused by an incident of police brutality: " The cops are your best friends. Leave it to the FBI to unmask RACIST cops . ".
Malcolm X had no use for " liberal " friends of the " Other America " in the Democratic Party.
And I love this Malcolm X quote : " Show me a capitalist and I'll show you a blood sucker ". Read his bitter sermon about the difference between the " house negro " and the " field negro " ( his own phrases ) .
In the last year of his life Malcolm X made a connection between racism and capitalism , between racism and imperialism.
And Dr. Ben Carson, you are no Malcolm X. And Senator Bernie Sanders, you are no Eugene V. Debs.
Forget about what Hillary can do for racism and class inequality !
We can end capitalism - BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

In addition

"I believe there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those doing the oppressing. I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice and equality for everyone and those who want to continue the system of exploitation. I believe that there will be that kind of clash, but I dont think it will be based on the colour of the skin."

At what point do we say that the United States has become a fascist state? Has that point now been reached?

OL • 8 years ago

your opinion doesn't count, but you can still express and discuss it, leaving a chance for the emergence of a genuine mass movement against the current state of affairs, fascism is when it's too late for that.

cedarsagecatrina • 8 years ago

It was reached 12 December 2000 when the stacked Supreme Court validated the Bush/Cheney election theft. The masks came off 11 Sept 2001 when they engineered the shock-and-awe excuse for the introduction of full-blown fascism .

Only in the upside-down world of what passes for law enforcement in the US could a high-ranking government official get away with blaming police brutality on those who would expose it. This is another example of the paranoid US surveillance state and its two-tiered justice (sic) system that has run amok blaming those who blow the whistle.

C.R. • 8 years ago

As Marxists we do understand that the ruling class, a bankrupt, reactionary ruling aristocracy will defend its police force or in other words the police are defending a criminal ruling class. When the police are not sufficient the bourgeoisie will turn to the fascist gangs against the working class.

cedarsagecatrina • 8 years ago

Not only blaming , but meting out draconian punishments when they can get their hands on them ! I don't give a fig for Edward Snowden's chances if he ever gets talked into returning to the US . The PTB can't afford to let him live . The same goes for Julian Assange .

Kill the messenger - that always works so well !

This cop bastard warns of “profound consequences” yeah b**** very profound earthquake coming the ruling elite's way: the open class war.

Skip • 8 years ago

As 1917 Russia has shown us. The ruling class will succum to the forward progression of history no matter how they protest and oppress.
