I love the idea of making use of this feature in a different way, but the only problem is it means you need to becoming Facebook friends with your clients or staff. You mention about the debate for this, but as far as I'm concerned if there is any debate at all it's not something I would do. If there's a chance a client doesn't feel good about it then I don't feel good about it.

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

GoodVibraShawn, good point. I think it's important to remember that everyone tends to have an opinion on if you should be friends with clients and staff. A lot of that is based on someone's personal preference and overall comfort level. I would do what you feel most comfortable with doing (and what is an accepted practice in your industry).

But I think you're on to a great idea here. Perhaps maybe even a video or image that you can display on your page that only shows to people who haven't liked your page yet.

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

GoodVibraShawn, almost like a testimonials feature like you can display on your website?

Amandah Tayler Blackwell • 9 years ago

I love this idea. However, I think it would be better if pages could use the tool. Right now, I have no desire to "friend" clients on my personal Facebook page, not that I really use my personal FB page. Let's hope that FB brings the cards to pages.

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Amandah Tayler Blackwell, I've had a lot of people ask about that option. Hopefully Facebook's listening.

Amandah Tayler Blackwell • 9 years ago

I hope they listen too!

Guest • 9 years ago

Me too Amandah Tayler Blackwell. Let me see what I can do to request that.

Amandah Tayler Blackwell • 9 years ago

Hopefully, FB listens. :-)

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Amandah Tayler Blackwell, just sent in a suggestion on adding this. Fingers crossed!

Amandah Tayler Blackwell • 9 years ago

Excellent!

Unfortunately, I think they still haven't added the feature. Just checked it, and the page is still unavailable.

I agree!

LOVE the 'Recommend' Card - wow, I didn't realize that Video Cards could be used to create and maintain relationships!

Thank you so much, Christian

Kitto

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Krithika Rangarajan, maintaining relationships is very important - even if someone moves on. You never know when you might need to call on that person down the road.

KarenKefauver • 9 years ago

what can one do about music options?

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

KarenKefauver, unfortunately they don't let you change the music.

Antonio Calero • 9 years ago

What a great post Christian! Very useful tips, nice way of thinking 'out of the box'

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Thanks Antonio Calero. Did you come up with any other great ideas on how you would use video cards?

Antonio Calero • 9 years ago

I was thinking to use it as a recognition program to - for example - announce the best follower / client / subscribers.... This idea still needs some polishing though...

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Good idea Antonio Calero. Let me know if you need any help fleshing out that idea more.

Billie Murray • 9 years ago

I agree with all the comments re: having to friend the client. I wouldn't want to do this and would rather this be a Pages feature too. I also think this should be in Australia already :))

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Billie Murray, I've had a lot of people reach out and ask the same question. I went and submitted a detailed feature request to Facebook. Let's see what comes of it.

Billie Murray • 9 years ago

I like your style :)) Lets hope it works :))

Love the new ideas in the comments here! It's great to see the different ways you can use social media. The question of mixing business and personal is a personal one I think and it depends on what environment you navigate in. How personal your personal profile is also comes into question.

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Great point Cindy King. So good to hear everyone's opinion on mixing business and personal.

Guest • 9 years ago

I don't agree on the Facebook video card for business because it is all about thanks to a frined. You should have shared an example in that case that would have helped.

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Shobha Popat, business isn't just confined to a Facebook Page. Establishing personal relationships is a great way to network with other business owners and potentially expose your business to a broader audience through the personal connections that you make.

Thanks for sharing Christian, I really had a great read.. Informative!

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Thanks treb072410! If you have any other ideas on how you would use this feature, would love to hear them.

Sure Profits • 9 years ago

I think this is a good idea, never heard of it before but is worth a try and it can help build relationships on both personal and business levels. It is a tool that be be implemented for personal branding if used correctly and professionally.

Christian Karasiewicz • 9 years ago

Thanks Sure Profits. Glad to hear you enjoyed the article. Did the article trigger any other ideas outside of the ones mentioned on how you might use it?

Kyla • 9 years ago

Where do I find that on Face Book? Is it where it says Video?

BellaJ2000 • 9 years ago

This feature would be very useful for non-profits on Facebook. Although if the option doesn't extend to Pages, I'd recommend creating a client/donor friendly "personal" page.

sky • 9 years ago

May I know if I can set Facebook to separate friends and colleagues/clients?

Thanks.

P.S: Nice podcast and post. :-)

Digital Spirit • 8 years ago

will try this one on clients , thanks for sharing . genius you are .
