Why do those uniforms remind me of the confederate army, especially with the swords?

At least we aren't 'white raisedfists'. ouch. couldn't help it. I remember giving the finger in my graduating class picture. No one noticed whew). I thought it was clever at the time but in retrospect I wish I had not been such a smarty pants.

'At least'???
So, you admit you are an ignorant, racist white person.
Fair enough.

America, where black people who do what white people do are called uppity.

jackgotney • 7 years ago

White cadets aren't doing that. You think people don't get uppity at white people? What do you think if a group of all white cadets gave the Nazi salute or wore KKK hoods? Even in jest they'd be taken to task by Mr. & Mrs. Uppity tighty people who would come crawling out of the woodwork, no doubt. Crack(head) lives matter.

John Roberts • 7 years ago

The offense is called "conduct unbecoming an officer". Raising the black power fist should see them all removed from the military. They do not need to be put into positions of responsibility in the Army. It is as offensive as a bunch of white wanna be officers holding a bunch of nooses.

Moose! • 7 years ago

A gesture of empowerment is equal to a symbol of racial hatred and oppression--good one, John Roberts, you really thought that through. :-/

Devschool • 7 years ago

I was in the Army. You are an idiot.

Boots • 7 years ago

So... you're saying only an idiot doesn't believe it's OK for future officers to be racist? If these young ladies don't understand the significance of the clenched fist the Army has really lowered their standards. Of course with you having been in the Army they've already set a pretty low bar.

Devschool • 7 years ago

There was MORE THAN one photo of my platoon or squad doing the exact same thing. What is your point? (I should note I am not black)

Boots • 7 years ago

So... the Army is full of racists and it's acceptable for these young ladies to be racist and make political statements in uniform? Post the photo of you and your buddies, in uniform, engaging in racist/political behavior... on the internet... and we'll see how it flies. I don't care... black or white... the rules are pretty clear. I don't seem to remember it being OK in my 23 years in the Navy and Navy Reserve (27 if you count my four years of ROTC).

Machete • 7 years ago

They can't have two sets of rules. A racist is a racist, and the USMA should no more tolerate this behavior than they would from any other group.

Jessiemac • 7 years ago

These women are demonstrating a racist and political act while in uniform. They are in violation of academy rules. Their display is disgraceful and shows that they have no respect for their classmates, their country, their respected institute of learning or their uniform. If being black, half-black or wannbe black is more important than being an honorable graduate of West Point then these women should be heaved onto the streets of Detroit and left to rot. I hope all of these women are ejected from West Point before they graduate and disgrace everyone in this country.

skeeteril • 7 years ago

It's a black thing.

Devschool • 7 years ago

Yes, white people have never pumped their fists. Racist POS.

Guarantee that whoever spurred this investigation has complained about the workd becoming too PC.

They should be proud of who they are, nothing wrong with that. Same way rednecks fly the Ignorant flag on their pick'em ups
