Please scroll below to see (what i believe are) the direct results of teaching audience-based prose, geared to audience reaction- facts be damned. ie. bullshit.

And notice how the "professional" editors so carefully edit "naughty words," but seem to be unable to catch typos in their headlines. And now the topic has turned to fund-raising.

Kinda makes the pleas for "students" ring hollow, doesn't it. Kinda like our oil wars are all about "freedom and democracy." Maybe the students aint hip to pathos logos and ethos... but they can spot hypocrisy a mile away.

Dr. Amidon is essentially correct. Students' credits and careers are at stake. They deserve more than silence from the high-hat poobahs who represent the stakeholders. Perhaps we all made a mistake by focusing on credits and careers instead of education. But we are beyond that now. LSA is the arm of the law to enforce austerity. Why?

Because Indiana state government has been captured by ideologues... representing remaining participating voters... who have ossified into the mold of free market capitalism. So they are kept in the dark and fed bullshit (Frankfurt)... statements made by people more concerned with the response of the audience than in truth and accuracy. Audience-based prose.

Princes of darkness are seldom held accountable. But they are often held responsible by the laws of physics. If you have to kiss a lot of Physics professors before you find your Einstein what is the purpose of education? Hunting candy and nuts among the dead? That is now the occupation of the Indiana legislature. That is why we seek certainty in an age of probability. And LSA.

But that is why credits and careers keep paying-butts in the seats.

That sure was a lot of psychobabble to not have a point.

Ooohhhh, burn.

nice analysis. just like your christian middle finger. where is it buried now?

waldopaper • 8 years ago

"psychobabble?"
Like your twin porcine brethren, you seem fond of using words you do (or pretend to) not understand.

Fort Steve • 8 years ago

To quote Bill Shakespeare, "your words are full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

waldopaper • 8 years ago

care to give any examples? or are you just expelling troll gas? see what an interesting intellectual flavor you have added to the topic? So appropriate when discussing higher education. Porky.

Your self loathing bitterness is showing again waldo. I'd wish you a nice life, but you are clearly incapable of anything related to joy. Please return to the dirt filled crevice under your rock and stay off the internet.

waldopaper • 8 years ago

I see. You can't give examples... except one of "projection." Yeah yeah... "psychobabble."
Kinda like your christian middle-finger salute. Pork fat.

Yep. Now are you just going to huff and puff? Or do you have legitimate commentary on Dr. Amidon's letter?

Don't worry. Caught your appropriate acronym irony. Remember the blots are the same on both sides. Don't want to get into "psychobabble." No perspective on Amidon's argument, eh. Just trolling.
And of course you see no ideologues. Only ink-blots.
Too busy taking deflection lessons from Mallory, ja?

Yup those ideologues in Indy are an outrage. Socialism is the answer so we can all be equal.

waldopaper • 8 years ago

"Socialism" is another word you do (or pretend to) not understand.
"equal" yes. equal voice. equal opportunity. Organized means of production. Nature favors the collective. Life favors the individual. Balance of individual and collective. Words *mean* something. Stories don't have to be true to tell the truth. Embrace the paradox. duh.

No. Look at any species. In order to even do that... you have to look at the collective. Now an individual... like *that* particular animal. Lambert. And take that blade of grass over there: Bob. To Lambert... Bob is prey.
When a species evolves... it does so as a collective. Individuals do not evolve. Individuals can only grow... or learn... or die. What makes an individual? That is the riddle of the qualia.
Universities are presumed to be places to learn. Instead, they have turned to places to make money selling credentials. Paying-butts in the seats. And if you want to visit a nightmare of political correctness... go there. Nobody wants to offend paying-butts. Yeah- they're paying-but they're not learning anything. Knowledge is available on the internet for free. Wisdom takes a good teacher.
And most of the ones who do the heavy lifting are treated like a disposable commodity... like most workers are. See? That was on topic. And didn't even bother to call you stupid. Oh wait. You're conservative right.

Hillbilly redneck stupid. That was an entire semester in 5 lines. and it sailed over your mullet like a Frisbee.

Wow. Who should show up right away but the Three Little Pigs. See? Literature has conjuring power. Even children's literature.
