The adjustable economic band (used to be called a budget) needs to be reinstalled, and tightened, to control a government that cannot do its constitutionally required duties, or does them poorly because it's too busy micromanaging the lives of its citizens.

The political class also needs extensive reeducation and sensitivity training; reeducation that they are clerks, not bosses or rock stars; and sensitivity training to MYOB.

Well claspur, I had a guitar playing singer friend who had lots of wants, but he wanted them on the quick. If his name were widely known, it could be a metonym for the state of our country.

I accompanied him once to a long distance gig. On the way he shared that he just wanted to f and do dope, but he didn't want to have to work. He had a great wife and kids. A few years later he abandoned his family. Years later, he was found dead under an overpass, strung out, needles and guitar nearby. I guess he was looking to find out how it feels to want. His family did not claim the body or attend a funeral. They managed their wants more responsibly and now live relatively happy and productive lives.
