Henry Cavill craps bigger than this guy.

sambafreak13 • 7 years ago

Cavill looks PERFECT as Supes, but in terms of performance I'd take Reeve and Routh over him (even if Routh was mostly copying Reeve. there are worse people to copy)

Zagreus • 7 years ago

I wonder how Cavill would be under a director who actually gave a rats ass about Superman...

johnwaynewasgay • 7 years ago

Looks like Superman has been smoking the Krack or doing Krystal Meth.

Jerry • 7 years ago

Looks like a fucking hipster hot topic douche bag superman. That fucking hair looks like shit. His sunken eyes, bug ears and tiny chin. WTF... superman should also look like like he's in his 30's not like he just left the fucking dance club at 3am.

AlexanderHamiltonsGhost • 7 years ago

Bring Back Routh.

Shockrates • 7 years ago

Yeah it's fine because he as essentially playing the *same* Superman as Reeve.

Auntie Fah • 7 years ago

In fact, we really LIKE it.

LaRusso • 7 years ago

I don't care how buff Cavill is, as Clark and Superman the guy is a charmless, block of wood. Christopher Reeve he is not, George Reeves he is not, Kirk Alyn he is not, hell, Dean Cain (who was a great Clark and decent Superman) he is not. Cavill sucks and his Superman is COMPLETELY wrong.

ANDS! • 7 years ago

How is Cavill supposed to make "If I wanted it, you'd be dead already. . ." sound charming?

It is not even close to his fault that he was stuck in a dour couple of Superman movies.

Guest • 7 years ago

I wanted to kick whoever wrote that line of dialogue. Superman (normal not Snyder shit Superman) doesn't kill people. Or threaten to kill people.

JPZ-655321 • 7 years ago

Those of us who know that Superman and Batman don't kill are becoming the minority. The values and ideals that the characters represented in the Silver and Bronze Ages are slowly being supplanted by execs (and the shills who are in their pockets) who don't give a damn about the characters outside of what can be done to exploit their longtime popularity for personal gain. I can imagine Superman watching Man of Steel or Dawn of Justice and walking out of the theater in disgust at what's been done to them (right past somebody in the front row who's giggling at the carnage).

Jerry • 7 years ago

I'm just glad we have Captain America to be the Superman on screen we all wish Superman could be.

Zagreus • 7 years ago

Both Captain America and hell, even Thor, are better at being Superman, than movie Superman. Comics Thor was Marvel's answer to Superman... and he's doing a way better job of not being a sour prick.

It's weird time for movies: there are going to be THREE Thor movies (the merits of which are debatable, but I liked the first two and am really looking forward to Ragnarok) while Superman clearly sucks...

Obviously it is possible to write stories for a powered character and make them fun and enjoyable...

Alexander Stallwitz • 7 years ago

Frankly, I am still sticking to my theory that the Batman Vs Superman universe is an prequel to one of the bad universes like the Justice Syndicate or something like that

Niles Mitchell • 7 years ago

We was pointing out a fact, not threatening.

Can we really even blame Goyer anymore? When Snyder did the same thing twice with two different writers? The fault is entirely Snyder's at this point.

JohnWickThisWayComes • 7 years ago

I must disagree, sir - where dialog and the director allowed he was quite charming - and he also has the gravitas to portray the Last Son of Krypton - I like Routh, but he seemed more like Superboy. Hopefully in the next movie Cavill will get to have a lighter tone and they will leave the dour to the Batman where it belongs.

LaRusso • 7 years ago

I'm sorry, but there is no charming aspect and little depth to the guy's performance. And his reactions are completely off. When he says to Lex, "What have you done," his expression looks like that of a guy who just sniffed a sour fart. I acknowledge that his director is a pathetic hack who doesn't have a clue how to facilitate proper characterization, but Cavill seriously lacks.

jmanngod • 7 years ago

but then... you're a known marvel fanboy so your opinion is really worth much

Squiddly • 7 years ago

You forgot Routh, who was great but in an average film. It's wierd as Cavill has charm in Man From Uncle so why is he like this as Superman? Maybe Snyder's directing?

gun will travel • 7 years ago

Totally agree about Cavill in Men from Uncle. He looks like Superman, but not in Snydervision

Michael • 7 years ago

The writing.

Sparky Williams • 7 years ago

The writing in the Snyderverse is beyond awful.

LaRusso • 7 years ago

Agreed. Routh gave a terrific performance loaded with subtle charm and emotional depth.

saintsaucey • 7 years ago

Man from uncle sucked. Way to depressing a flick.

Squiddly • 7 years ago

Depressing? Did we watch the same film? I thought it was great.

saintsaucey • 7 years ago

Depressing may not be the right word. But it was drap and dreary

Squiddly • 7 years ago

I thought it was fun. Cavill and co seemed to be having fun with it.

Simbo1970 • 7 years ago

"Way to depressing a flick" do you mean that Man From Uncle depressed a flick or was a journey towards depressing a flick? Now if you mean "Way too depressing a flick" then that almost makes sense

saintsaucey • 7 years ago

Yeah I meant too not to. It was a typo

Auntie Fah • 7 years ago

I wish we had universal editing privileges so we could go around fixing other posters typos. So much more constructive than just being a wise ass.

saintsaucey • 7 years ago

But then what would stop me from changing "I wish we had universal editing privileges so we could go around fixing other posters typos. So much more constructive than just being a wise ass." To "I wish 'I had a big black cock in my' ass"

MisterE • 7 years ago

But that might actually be fixing his typo.

Auntie Fah • 7 years ago

AICN posters would never do that!

Simbo1970 • 7 years ago

Apologies for my hangover pedantry S

Ozmataz Buckshank • 7 years ago

Yu sownd liek a fun dood too hang owt whith.

Jim Rickards • 7 years ago

Christopher Reeve was perfect as Superman.

LaRusso • 7 years ago

Christopher Reeve IS Superman, my friend.

Darth_Augustus • 7 years ago

A lot of people forget how good Dean Cain was in that role. If they ever needed someone to portray the gruff old superman it would be him.

saintsaucey • 7 years ago

Loved lois and clark. Lane smith will forever be perry white to me

Darth_Augustus • 7 years ago

Exactly! Every time I see that character on screen I think of him.

Sparky Williams • 7 years ago

Damn straight. Lane Smith was Perry White.

Acappellaman • 7 years ago

I don't think the problem is Cavill. It's mostly the script and director telling him what to do. He does have talent, and he's got the look nailed perfectly.

JTownSam • 7 years ago

Cavill is good, but Snyder destroyed his Superman to the point that I can never accept his Superman. Snyder made sure that there are no redeeming qualities to his Superman. He did that as a middle finger to fans. He did the same with Batman.

Hervoyel • 7 years ago

Disagree. I think they give him nothing to work with. Cavill was very good in The Tudors and he can be charming. He just hasn't been given a single charming thing to say or do since they started this stuff. The only time he's even been allowed to show the slightest bit of "joy" as Superman was in his first flying attempt scene and that just isn't going to cut it. I can't lay that at Cavill's feet though.

Backward Galaxy • 7 years ago

Sadly, I'm at the point where I have to agree with you. Apologists will point to the lousy material he has to work with, and they're not wrong about that, but I've never found Cavill's Clark or Superman to have a single shred of charisma or natural charm. I found his performances equally underwhelming in The Tudors and The Man from UNCLE. He was a little better in Immortals. It's especially disappointing because when he's just being himself, like in interviews or that recent "prank" he pulled on the Suicide Squad cast at Comic-Con, you can see that it's there. It's available to him. He just hasn't been able to carry it over into his performances.

Niles Mitchell • 7 years ago

Cavil's just whine. Go whine elsewhere, hipster.
