Thank you, sir. You were the judge who helped with my daughter's adoption finalization and you were the judge who saw the point of law and ruled on my favor in a civil case. Enjoy your retirement. You've earned it. : )

Juror # 1 • 8 years ago

I was a juror on a case he presided over a couple of years ago. I was really impressed with how he ran the courtroom. He was very fair and patient with a good sense of humor. He will be a hard judge to replace.

Long live Judge Gallegos!

zookeeper • 8 years ago

Totally. Gallegos wouldn't be a bad pick at all. Another great honorable local attorney would be Zwerdling. Kelly Walsh is a nice guy too. From what I've heard about Watson, I have a lot of trouble putting the word "honorable" in front of his name. I hope they keep Reinholtsen. He's a smart guy and fits the description of what an actual judge does: remains impartial and evaluates a case on its merits. Refreshing.

imrosiesmom • 8 years ago

boy if you think Gallegos was easy on prosecuting criminals...just look at the damage he could do on the bench!!!! SCARY...

Ann • 8 years ago

I witnessed Kelly Walsh go thru a sizable retainer of a mentally ill client. He should have excused hisself for his lack of expertise.

Ann • 8 years ago

When I spoke to him he said,"I think I intimidated (clients name). So he knew what he had done.

zookeeper • 8 years ago

OK well he seems like a nice guy in person. We should have an Angie's List of attorneys in this county. Seems there's an epidemic of taking retainers and performing under par. Anyone else feel like their case has already been decided in a backroom before they walk into court?

schnoopie • 8 years ago

I'm assuming that it will likely be Commissioner MIchael Eannarino. He already sits on the bench as a commissioner and has met the qualifications.

Really, you don't think Jason Singleton has a shot???

John Browns Bawdy House • 8 years ago

Whatever happened to, Max G. Arnold, attorney at law? The Aussie guy that used to make TV and back of phone book ads here in Humboldt.

Joe • 8 years ago

He's in Redding.

KIEM • 8 years ago

Nice reference! He had the best TV commentials ever!

I'd be interested in Mr. Chiv's thoughts on this.

You know who is really a joke? Firpo. As to Klein, you're still just butt-hurt that he called out Firpo on her ridiculously inappropriate plea deal on the Ferrer case. Thank goodness (and to some extent Klein) that that plea deal was shit-canned, and that the voters rejected Firpo despite all her funding and her position as Gallegos's assumed successor.

Please don't appoint either of Judge Watson's brothers!

Joe • 8 years ago

What's wrong with them?

formerly lo • 8 years ago

Dear Governor, Please appoint a Judge that is Honorable and one that does not specialize in Back Room Deals. Humboldt has enough plaguing it already, further corruption will lead to further problems.

zookeeper • 8 years ago

Are you saying Watson specialized in backroom deals?

SMH2much • 8 years ago

Sorry to see him go. I vote for replays of his hearings in any similar court cases.

Donovan • 8 years ago

Sad to see him go....one of the only judges ive seen aplly justice were its needed...you will be missed

imrosiesmom • 8 years ago

Judge Watson ruled against me in a child custody hearing when we attempted to get our granddaughter whose two parents couldn't seem to hold it together....but I still felt he followed the law and had to do what he had to do....no hard feelings....

... • 8 years ago

That is a very thoughtful and judicious reaction -- I nominate YOU for the appointment...well, if you're a lawyer with at least 10 years of experience. ;)

Humboldt County Line • 8 years ago

Hmmm

... • 8 years ago

Would love to see Arnie Klein get the appointment. Chaitin or Gallegos...no thanks.

cbligh • 8 years ago

Not really...

Judge Watson should of had someone to interprete for him after stroke or at least the Plaintiff n Defendant should of been asked, if they wanted a different Judge. I almost called 911, the day I was to present my case. I DIDNT get my day in court! As I first was tramatized, they couldn't understand his slurred words, nor hear his whispered speech. I lost before we started! I had no idea they'd allow a Judge to preside over cases like this! He appears to done good, if you expect it n can understand. I have my own disabilities. I lost a lot, not being heard! This was NOT fair to me nor my family!

Dorothy • 7 years ago

I, Dorothy couldn't understand Judge Watson n STILL DONT NO WHAT HE SAID! I have so much proof, I could of easily turned it around if I knew what was needed. The Defs totally lied. Half I could prove but not typed nor taped. So they'll deny said, an that day- I was dumbfounded! I STILL am in shock. How many cases were brushed aside like mine? No justice! It hurts! Groomers sent my dog to an early grave n I have massive proof via Vet papers, etc! Unbelievable! Sorry he had stroke but, Really!
