Let's--for once---tell the truth about high heels. They cause spine curvature which puts pressure on the spine and causes lower back pain later in life. I could never walk correctly in them; now, I am glad I couldn't.

Robert Monroe, Jr. • 11 years ago

My daughter and I love old horror movies. When she realized that the women who wore high heels always fell when they were running away from the monster she vowed to never wear high-heeled shoes. I told her that was probably one of the best decisions she'll ever make in her life.

whadju8 • 11 years ago

I agree, especially considering the abrupt rise in the monster population lately.

Robert Monroe, Jr. • 11 years ago

Whatever helps her keep away from high-heeled shoes works for me. It was easier to discuss running from monsters to a 6-year old than explaining how those shoes will effect her back, legs, etc. in the future.

TM TH • 11 years ago

I actually agree completely. High heels are a terrible idea for daily use. There is a place and time for limited pump usage. Just whip one of those off and smack that monster in the eye (but only if you are out on a date - photo shoot, the runway...)

Goran Novakovic • 11 years ago

Good luck when she discovers boys and peer preasure and that monsters arent real.

If I were you Id start telling her about " how those shoes will effect her back, legs, etc. in the future" otherwise the "monster no High heels" reason will be forgotten.

Lee Rowan • 11 years ago

peer pressure = another real monster.

Natamaxxx • 11 years ago

Not to mention the rise in snarky internet trolls who miss the point entirely.

Abbytabb • 11 years ago

I tend to believe we should have a sarcasm font for these comments.

Martin Alfven Haider • 11 years ago

I sometimes put in a *sarcasm alert* or *humor alert*. I don't think that the person was being snarky, just joking around. Actually, I thought that it was funny. And no doubt high heels are terrible on the back!

Steven Swenson • 11 years ago

You're probably right Walking on a back in high heels can't possibly feel good.

James Staten • 11 years ago

High heels should only be worn in the bedroom!!! chuckle, chuckle

nostudme1 • 11 years ago

Caitlyn? Is that you?

James Staten • 11 years ago

No, but Lindsey Graham sure is happy!!!!!

Slwsnowman40 • 11 years ago

I approve this message.

DouglasL • 11 years ago

James Staten • 11 years ago

Yep,Preferable with one's wife!!!!!

Lee Rowan • 11 years ago

Wear 'em in the bedroom if you like, James.

James Staten • 11 years ago

All I can say from a biblical perspective is, "that the marriage bed goes undefiled"...so I heartily agree!!!!

nostudme1 • 11 years ago

It's called 2nd grade.

dddienst • 11 years ago

{Sarcasm braces} {Like you really need them}

bvsfan • 11 years ago

I agree! Natamaxx didn't get the joke.

curly4 • 11 years ago

Agreed!

robert owen • 11 years ago

And the point is? I guess I missed it.

bvsfan • 11 years ago

And there ya go, the obligatory Obama reference that has nothing to do with this article. Congrats maroon!

robert owen • 11 years ago

No Obama slur is ever wasted and most are true to some extent. He promised to fix all our healthcare issues, hid the process, lied about the details, and failed at the task! If Pilates helps your pain, go for it. REAL pain is treated with meds and surgeries!

diggferkel • 11 years ago

Parents used to yell "Sit up straight!" to children. They don't anymore.

Slouching is the problem.

swedelady13 • 11 years ago

People with strong back muscles don't slouch. They automatically stand straight, so the fix is to strengthen the muscles that hold us up straight.

joeaverage21 • 11 years ago

Would seem like we need to walk more, ride around in cars less.

Lee Rowan • 11 years ago

We all spend too much time at the computer.

Streaker • 11 years ago

...But her recommendations are not to sit up straight! If you aren't sitting up straight, then I think that you are slouching. I don't get it!

Constitutional Reconvention • 11 years ago

Yelling?!? At CHILDREN!?!? To do something?!? Say it ain't true.

Skyanne Charlie Finlayson • 11 years ago

well wat do u do with ur kids?????

Lee Rowan • 11 years ago

You teach them. To spell, for starters. WHAT, YOU, YOUR.

Mia • 11 years ago

I make my kids sit up straight! My daughter has good posture since she plays musical instruments. I can't stand lousy posture.

Angela • 11 years ago

Rapists, murderers, stalkers... Our human monster population has grown a lot in the last few decades...

Cordel • 11 years ago

Actually not, but the fear machine has. Nevertheless, deciding never to wear high heels is wise. Men made that decision sometime in the 1600s.

James Hulsey • 11 years ago

Have you forgotten the 1970's?

Guest • 11 years ago
RiverMikeRat • 11 years ago

And besides Vietnam, what was wrong with the 60s?

joeaverage21 • 11 years ago

Nope - the 1980s... Another goofy period. ;)

don • 11 years ago

You are very wrong. Look at all of hiking boots, work boots and even running shoes, they have high heels on them. This is problem that is not even being diagnosed for men.

joeaverage21 • 11 years ago

None of my boot "heels" are higher than 1/2" or so in relation to the soles.

Irish Rose • 11 years ago

Those are NOT high heals! & or spike heels like the women shoes....

Motown • 11 years ago

you're ignoring the prevalent 'barefoot' trend sweeping the running industry. pretty huge gross to be ignoring, if you ask me.

Guest • 11 years ago
DouglasL • 11 years ago

... first "permissible" is not the same as recommended and I don't know how 1" heels add to proper posture unless there is a leg length discrepancy that has to be corrected. If anything, it would make more sense that we evolved to walk with a heel strike first on softer ground, which flexes the pelvis a bit forward and reduces the curvature in the lumbar spine... one of the premises on "earth shoes" .. though as a "spine friendly" alternative, they didn't meet promise as much as hype.

Raman Shanker • 11 years ago

Totally flat shoes tend to give arch pain if it is worn for long hours at work or during activities.

Ivan Nikolov • 10 years ago

If totally flat shoes give you arch problems then there is imbalance in the foot muscles that needs to be fixed - and that's usually a result from long years of heavily padded shoes wearing. Totally flat shoes are the "flat ground" you are stepping on while barefooted. So, in essence if totally flat shoes give you problems you are not conditioned to walk barefooted... and that's a problem. We are set up to walk barefooted (from there in totally flat shoes, as well) but in our civilized world we've conveniently "forgotten" this innate ability.
