Ok, Kenyans. This would never happen in Zimbabwe and has never happened. The Chinese know their place. It is your fault that they are doing this to you. Thank you very much.

jaytee • 9 years ago

we should have a petition to make these Chinese people feel the same too. how abt the Kenyan govt takes that shop away and all profits made and chase them Chinese out of Kenya. lets see how much money he will make out of Kenya... sick crezy man. makes me want to burst with anger..... who becomes racist in this day and age? am disappointed....

African teachers of English, try applying for teaching jobs in international private schools in China, and some here in Kenya. You will come to a sudden realization that you are not wanted there! If you get accepted, your salary is likely to be very low compared to that of Whites and Asians. Middle class and wealthy African parents here in Kenya would develop a high fever if they learned a fellow African was teaching their children English.

Bwibo • 9 years ago

As an African I can say that the standard of English by some teachers is really low. So indeed I would be appalled. However I would not mind them teaching the sciences.

Aggie • 9 years ago

JUSt H0W DISGUSTING COULD YOU GET? There are several African/Kenyan extremely qualified teachers, teaching English in British schools to British children in the UK and in the USA. Many times these teachers are the only black people in the classroom. Their teaching has never been considered sub-standard. Many of such teachers also teach in international schools here in Kenya. Just how disgusting could you get, Bwibo?

mikesonko13 • 9 years ago

Well, well thought-out recruitment process should be able to separate mediocre teachers of any subject from excellent ones, BUT in many of these schools, black skin color leads to an automatic disqualification. If all of black teachers are deemed mediocre, then all black patrons may as well be suspected to be thieves at this Chinese restaurant, without anyone taking any offense. My solution to the problem of discrimination of Africans by members of all the other races is to innovate solutions to all our problems. Then they will treat us equals.

70 Chinese nationals were recently charged with being in possession of high tech equipment intended for use in Cyber crimes. Ideally these team qualifies as "cyber - terrorists" should the country now apply a similar "no-Chinese" policy? Life is hard enough for Kenyans living in China and Africans in general have a much tougher time handling the stereotypes that Chinese load on Africans and Blacks here. While they would never call themselves 黄人(Huangren- Yellow people) they comfortably spew out 黑人(Heiren - Black people) at the sight of Africans. So much is the stereotyping here that at the sight of an African people run away or move away instinctively as though from the presence of a plaque or wild animal. Now this is happening right in Africa how far and how much worse can it be that people would carry their perceived superiority right to your doorstep spit right in your face and you take it lying down. What is the cost of "win-win" or is it "win-lose" with Chinese Characteristics. This however is not new to Kenya we have seen this right from the colonial masters, Indians, Arabs, Portuguese and now the new kids on the block Chinese. This is a wake up call to us as a people we must never take this lying down or the weight of 1 billion people would be unbearable. Kenya and Africa is a proud nation and continent we may have our challenges as any other nation or continent but that should not provide fodder for neocolonialist attitudes.

Yvonne • 9 years ago

Sad to hear Keyna is setting the country up for another take over this time by Chinese. When will Africans learn. My God 2 million Chinese buying there time 50 years from now up to no good. Africa

Have no words. Kenyans wake up?

GrammarPolice • 9 years ago

Lol Kenyans, you discriminate against yourselves everyday. Ever been to Art Caffé, Trattoria, Tamarind?

Profx • 9 years ago

stereotyping .too bad. kenyans should rise up against this.

Rose • 9 years ago

I am a Kenyan student in Malaysia. All Africans go through this over here, at one time or another. We never imagined it would happen back home in our respective countries.I for one am a Kenyan and proudly so. If foreigners coming to Kenya to do business, do not respect our people or have the decency to treat us as equals then please do not come.

Emmanuel Ongaro • 9 years ago

kidero good job. these people cannot come here and start dictating us...... IFUNGWE!!!!

Ngoma • 9 years ago

Wow! This has got to be the highest number of comments on a DN article ever!

BG • 9 years ago

Exactly how the African Chiefs in the 18th century traded their own people into slavery and up to today we still blame our backwardness on the Whiteman!!!! Why can't Kenyan authorities just close the restaurant? Is it the biggest foreign income eaner for Kenya? Kenyans raise up and regain your freedom.

Rick Ross • 9 years ago

Africans are too nice and accepting of other cultures, and we end up getting the end of the stick

777 • 9 years ago

I felt Chinese were more crafty than this! If I was the manager and was made well aware of the owners likings, I would fox everyone out by simply introducing members only restaurant! Then I would undergroundly make sure that we chose these members according to the managements liking. No one would ever know who are members and who aren't!! Voila_2 birds with 1 quiet stone

Jabranpin • 9 years ago

The Kenya government should not waste this momentum created by this uproar. They should make sweeping reforms that fines heavily businesses that have policies that discriminate. No reason why an individual should be punished by a business by being denied service for no fault of their own. I shouldn't be punished for what some other Africans might have done.

Kairos • 9 years ago

If they want their own club, let them have it. Why should blacks force themselves where they are not welcome. Allow the visitors have their exclusive privacy.

THAT FUCK UP! • 9 years ago

Why are african people allowed foreginers to live our motherlands? WHo is Faults...IT IS OUR!! We should NOT LET THEM make PROFILES for THEMSELVES>.BLack buy Black businesses...Just saying...

njuguna muigai • 9 years ago

This is not acceptable since they are on our soil and the government has granted them licence to do business . If they claim they were robbed they should know thugs target every one, the best thing they can do is seek security service from police or security firm

Marwo ILham Faleebo • 9 years ago

Racism is deplorable but lets not overreact! Lets not label all Chinese nationals as racists. We can't fight hatred with hatred!

Tarimbo • 9 years ago

Where did you get "all Chinese nationals" from? Your hyper comment adds no value.

edwin karninsky • 9 years ago

Why do africans always go where they are not wanted?

Mwikali Wambua • 9 years ago

Good question.

Kaslote • 9 years ago

...its our fucking country..,and thats an establishment where we can all go unless it is a members club or a residential house...Racist dumbhead...

Wuodkano • 9 years ago

Why are they not wanted? Is it because they are africans?

Murego • 9 years ago

Like a restaurant in Africa?

#Charana™ • 9 years ago

Probably the Africans drove in with their Subaru's and just like the author who would never date a guy driving a Subaru...they got turned away!!!

The Wolf • 9 years ago

Wrong country maybe? Just a tiny little bit maybe? I mean, if you don't want African customers, choosing an African location does not exactly shine a favourable light on the intellectual capabilities of the decision maker. Also, it's drooling-lunatic-style racist nonsense.

Mr. Reality • 9 years ago

exactly! It doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever.

Becks • 9 years ago

Lmao. Sue???? Better toss a grenade in there instead. Look how bold these foreigners are. Gtfo. I didn't know Kenya was that passive.

KenyaRenaissance • 9 years ago

How do comments like yours get approved by DN's censorship squad?

A_Diaspora_View • 9 years ago

Where is Sonko rescue Team?
If I were in Nairobi, I'd demand entry from 5PM accompanied by 4 street African adults [and a Thika Road child fathered by Chinese dad]. I'll hope 100 others do the same - after 5PM on different days.
Another good idea, a choir of street children to welcome white/Asian guests daily after 5PM

osogowinyo • 9 years ago

I agree with this idea

Polkot • 9 years ago

I am not interested in Chinese food. But I am very interested in being stopped from entering the restaurant! I will be there exactly at 5.01pm with all my black 'Africaness' and woe unto anyone who will stop me from accessing my country!

darel leting • 9 years ago

All I see in the comments section are a bunch of tribalists crying about racism.. On a sober note, at least the establishment welcomes Africans before 5pm, so maybe they are half-racist? We have many clubs that subtly discriminate on tribal lines, we have many tribal cliques in workplaces, schools, etc.. While I don't agree with this establishment, I consider it a very small, ineffective entity that only affects the black, rich individuals, mostly politicians who in the first place should be patronizing Kenyan-owned restaurants to boost them - for all the pains they cause this country, I'm not so eager to rush to their defense, no matter how justified the reason. These 'superior' MPigs just got dished their own exclusive soup that they serve to 'ordinary' Kenyans by another group that sees themselves as more superior. The serious problem that should get uproar similar to this case, is the rampant and brazen nepotism, tribalism in public appointments and sharing of national resources - that is more detrimental and affects more Kenyans.

I thought Tuju was broke.

Steven Geff • 9 years ago

@ Nunua Kienyeji, if leave God out of this serious social issue, who do we turn to for help.... Mchawi?
Don't realise the very reason is facing multi-faceted and insurmountable problems is because Kenyans shut out the Living God in their lives long ago?The whole country need to turn back to God wholeheartedly to expect healing process.

Karen Mwangi • 9 years ago

why is it located in nairobi then??? why don't they move the hotel and their patrons already

Jalaal Kafkaesque • 9 years ago

What is the difference between being denied entry in a Cricket Gymnasium in Parklands, A Golf Club in Muthaiga, a beach hotel in Malindi etc and being denied entrance in a Chinese eatery? We perfected the class and race divided the colonial masters bequeathed us at independence and the Chinese are only serving us our own medicine.

KenyaRenaissance • 9 years ago

The thing about this thread.. it reveals how high stung we are and how quickly we resort to mob violence on the flimisiest excuse with very little in the way of digesting critically or empathically what we see or hear. Our value systems have degraded to the point that we are easily susceptible to psychological manipulation. This exaggerated mob reaction explains the psychology that led to PEV in 2007/8. We need help.

truetalk • 9 years ago

If this Ms. Zhao feels Africans are a threat, why the hell is she in an african soil? I mean does china have zero criminals? Or should we feel she also is a thief of Ivory just because she's chinese. I mean if u choose to think the worst of a particular people because of an incident that apparently is relative, All chinese should be looked at as potential ivory smugglers. Is that what she's telling us? She should take a racist ideologies back to where she feels people are apparently perfect 'china'. And I wonder why they have prisons and laws anyway

karen • 9 years ago

this is all our fault! we have stooped so low & allowed such cowards to come into our country and do this! actually they are operating without a valid licence while our leaders are busy stomaching our taxes doing nothing. *dissapointed* until us africans we start respecting ourselves no one will ever wll....

Odongo Amuoro • 9 years ago
