Routenote now seems to only be free for YouTube, which you can easily upload to yourself without them owning distribution rights. If you're going for free, you could also just upload to SoundCloud. For online and CD distribution, it looks like CDBaby is a better deal, since they don't charge an annual fee. Paying a little more up front will ensure that people can listen for a long time to come.

The thing that Ms Swift doesn't understand is that she isn't any better than those millions of undiscovered artists who only a few dozen people know about. It's not art that's being devalued, it's variety that's being valued.

Great article! BTW looked up your music on WIMP (a subset of Tidal) and it was all there. No further comments though... ;-)

If you're trying to get your music out there, I highly recommend CDBaby to push your music to all the major streaming services. You can check out my music by visiting CDBaby (or iTunes, Spotify, etc.) by searching for "Evil Mr M". I have my current single, "Subway Series" available for free on CDBaby...
