Paul Krugman is mentally ill. He belongs in an institution with padded walls.

lovestorun • 10 years ago

If Krugman accepts a dime he will be seen as one of the 1% if he isn't already. I hope the IRS checks his taxes after Obama leaves.

Unfreaking believable, they live like kings spend like royals and the peasants pick up the tab.

I still think he's one of Santa's elves. The Santa in "Futurama."

louisiana_mom • 10 years ago

Soooooooo, is Krugman gonna "redistribute" his new income with those who make less? Yeah, I didn't think so.... hypocrite!

dang straights • 10 years ago

He's going to redistribute groceries into his belly and expensive real estate into his portfolio.

louisiana_mom • 10 years ago

Yeup... every single time there is "redistribution" it is always from the hard working tax payers to some friggin elites portfolio!!! Every single time! While the moochers keep waiting by their mailboxes hoping one day their redistribution check will arrive...

I was thinking the same thing... all the support staff and janitorial staffs that make a small fraction of this, just so this university can claim they are concerned about "income inequality"... If they were that concerned they would be using this money to bring up the pay of others... or as you stated provide more scholarships to help with it. But neither of those things makes good press with the Progressive Propaganda Machines we have masquerading as media today.

ThominSC • 10 years ago

If either CUNY or kruggers were really concerned with income inequality, he'd be working at an hourly wage - preferably minimum, with a trial period.

louisiana_mom • 10 years ago

Exactly! I've heard stories where the elites will spend a year after graduating HS and before college with the poor so they know what it is like to be poor in this nation... I challenge them to spend a year as a middle class citizen! Let them work 40 hours a week only to see almost 50% of their pay get taken away by the various taxes and fees we must pay... then try to put gas in their car to get to work, buy groceries without an EBT or food bank, and pay their electric bill with what is left! And let's not forget the "unexpected" happening at the worse possible time... have their transmission go out or hot water heater leak... which needs replacing immediately, so all the money they had managed to save for "steak night" just got taken away...

ThominSC • 10 years ago

You are spot on - there was a couple in NY City a few years back who wanted to show the world that they could be "green" in the city. It was written up in one of the magazines lauding their efforts. They did not use electricity in their apartment, rode bicycles and shopped at the South Street market, etc. My snark was this: they did this when the weather was temperate; so they didn't really need heat or cooling. They rode bikes - big effin' deal - apparently they did not have to go very far. They shopped organically, etc - but I said, "how do they think the produce, etc, etc GOT here?" It was not brought by horse or bicycle - trucks! It was a sham as far as I was concerned.

louisiana_mom • 10 years ago

Most of those types of articles are... as you said, when you start holding it up to the light... it does not pass the test. But those articles are geared toward the dumbed down LIVs who believe we can live like that...

Like the lie he continually tells, the one that says he won a Nobel Prize for Economics? It is called “The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel” It was never awarded or set up by the Nobel Foundation.

Jay Guevara • 10 years ago

Even the name is a lie: economics is not a science.

ThominSC • 10 years ago

A "social science" - loosely defined. Very loosely.

I am surprised that krugman and his ilk haven't figured out the marketing ploy that Keynesian Economic is "settled science" and that the rest of us are Keynesian deniers, akin to holocaust deniers, etc.

Altair • 10 years ago

One wonders if this is some kind of payoff for services rendered to barry and the choomers for playing water carrier and pundit for the idiocy in economics displayed?

ThominSC • 10 years ago

That's what I was wondering as well - this smacks of some kind of payoff. I'd love to force them to show the press their return on investment calculation - though they most likely have none.

Marxism and all its slimy tentacles is a huge cottage industry.
