this is actually my biggest pet peeve.

This is probably really a reference to Dr. Rebecca Simmons, who teaches the introduction to engineering class. Pratt is fortunate enough to have three Simmons - two faculty and a dean :)
It still works, because I'm sure both Dean Simmons and Dr. Rebecca Simmons are both worthy role models. Who is the third Simmons, out of curiosity?
