I migrated to including reading Whale Oil because my sense that the msm constitutes mainly blased left wing reporting. I also believe that singularly the msm are lazy and not journs but repeaters. As for the bunch of so called reporters on TV - there seems no qualification other than some degree of entertainment value ?. My migration was motivated as I was looking to get more perspective and more of 'the other side of the story'. I have no problem with Cam and his sources and generally find his blog reporting to be worth reading for a sense of context around the stories of the day. Keep up the good work Cam.

I think the real issue is - why hasn't the thief ( hacker ) been arrested and charged? It seems to me from my reading that a significant number of people know who it is or are they just claiming to know?
Also the important point for National supporters is to ensure the messages on policy are got out and the Election is won. Not to allow the distribution stolen personal conversations to distract from this.

Im supportive.Very.

And equally annoyed that this has all developed.
While the big boys play games.I (and other very ordinary tax paying business folk) look more and more likely to have carbon tax, higher tax,cap gains tax, electricity controlled by the Govt, interest rates through the roof.-and Minto,Harawiria,Harre,Wussel,Sykes and god knows who else at the tiller.
This whole election has derailed. There is a real sense this is turning now-a fearful sense.

Interesting on Q+A this morning when Bryce Edwards claimed this was all unprecedented in NZ political history. The medium by which its being exposed is new to a large degree and certainly the stealing of such a large amount of information is probably right up there but our history is littered with this intrigue and grubby politics. One can go back the the way John a Lee was treated by the queers etc that ran the Savage Parliament,
We can look at some of the stuff that went on in Hollands time between his govt. and the Unions, We can look at Muldoon's time when he attacked the likes of Moyle and such etc.and one would be remiss to leave out Clark and the many stories surrounding her term including Peter Doone and her so called Husband.

Of course few of these "commentators" are old enough to remember this stuff and almost all of them fail in their learning of our history.

Two things need to happen.
National need to win and they need to grow some nuts and do what they should have when first elected. Remove the festering sores that continue to dog them.
Chop up education and remove the rights of unions to use their operating funds to support a political party. Being nice to communists and socialists is so last century.

One can only assume that after the election or better before, all MP's and PM will be very careful in future and keep everything out in the open, not tucked away in letters and emails, this will surely stop more of the same rubbish that has happened at this election, and will force people like Nicky Hager to write things that are truthful and legal. No ammo no fighting.

The MSM are not attacking WO with any regards to decent hardworking NZers. They are attacking WO because they are fearful they are losing their power to set the narrative. Years ago what the MSM said was usually taken as gospel, attacking the MSM usually involved letters to the editor which the editor would usually not print, it didn't fit the narrative. The MSM are loving the Collins/WO story, two enemies to hate on with one story, what could be better.

Stealing of private emails should be taken seriously and investigated by the police to find the perp. But what all this crap that has happened since the book was published has shown is that you don't stockpile emails and the like unless they are important. Also if you feel you need to stockpile or keep important emails you should look at some sort of encryption software. This may sound dramatic but look at what has happened. People shouldn't have to worry about this sort of stuff but in today's climate it is now looking more like it should be the norm. What's OUR country come to since a certain immigrant from the Fatherland turned up.

And if Hotchin paid or not, it doesn't really matter as it was pretty obvious there was a mysterious bias there for the guy who destroyed so many peoples savings. But here's the thing, WO always let critical comments about Hotchin stay up. He didn't edit dissenting views out like the MSM and left wing blogs seem to do regularly. It's not propaganda if there's free and open discussion. The motivation of a post is not as important as the content. Although there is the exception, when the left wing send out their "everybody give this story legs" instructions. But even then you just end up with 10 stupid content stories instead of just one.

This is a really important point. I work in the health sector - if conversations between staff were recorded and distributed publicly there would be outrageous indignation that such things could be said. This would apply to most occupations. Private communication is not and should never be subject to public broadcast unless there is criminal activity involved. This is a really important privacy issue.
It seems that it's OK if the "greater good" is being protected - but who is to decide what the "greater good" is? In politics it seems that it is that which your side supports. That's all.
Well it seems that those who are digging up private communications (illegally!) and hurting others do finally deserve to have it dished up to them.

You have warned them several times.
Go for the jugular, Cam!
They deserve nothing less.

Grindlewald is the 2nd most evil wizard in the "Harry Potter" series and his deluded rationale for his evil deeds is "the greater good". Hager ,the serial repeat publisher of stolen personal, political, and journalistic email in NZ, deludes himself with the phrase "in the public interest" rather than "the greater good". We already have a self appointed unofficial left-wing monitor of private emails in NZ. By publishing the stolen correspondence of his political enemies he has destroyed more privacy in NZ than several generations of GSCB could ever do. Hager resembles "Peter Pettigrew" the the small time, rat -like, traitorous, evil errand boy of Voldemort ( Shmitz?) in the Harry Potter series.

Great letter. I concur with all that has been written. We won't be going elsewhere for our news, anyway where would one go to get a balanced viewpoint? I suspect that for a short while those tips from politicians and journalists might be a little lean, but eventually they will come back as they will need you Cam. Be true to yourself and all will be fine.
