I still don't get the constant crying about new iterations of SF. It's as if people had never played fighting games before. I can't stand modern Capcom but this is one thing I defend them over. Capcom releases a rebalanced game with 10 new characters, new moves and features for $40.. internet cries. Other dev releases "sequel" with 5 new characters for full price... Internet says nothing. What gives?

As for SFV, I'm all for it. I just hope they take a page from Arc's book when it comes to the animation. Also, more SF III roster revamp and less SF Alpha rehash cast.

R. Hoffmann • 9 years ago

SSFIV was fine, the crap started with the Arcade Edition..and Ultra which was more or less using recycled content for the most part and had Capcom hyping a fucking clone character for a half year.

shouryuuken • 9 years ago

I remember the internet blowing up immediately when super was announced. AE was like 20 bucks, so I didn't see what the big deal was.

HCM • 9 years ago

They were cheap updates that added balance and a handful of characters each time. What is the problem exactly?

tomoloco • 9 years ago

I always thought rehashing Street Fighter games was the norm so I had no issues with how they handled that.

But Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and SFxT were such cash grabs, Capcom lost a lot of credibility, if they had much left at the time.

pundaG • 9 years ago

for real.... I picked up uMVC3 when I realized that it'd be the last MvC game ever, and I nabbed a used copy of SFxT for like $18... but I spent half the day downloading all the DLC (which is mostly free now, save for the crossover costumes) that game was intensely snake oily...

BabyChooChoo • 9 years ago

My sources tell me it's either a new Darkstalkers. Power Stone, or Rival Schools.

My sources only exist inside my head.

Everyday Legend • 9 years ago

Your sources are better than Capcom.

Discussa • 9 years ago

Yeah but, Capcom stopped caring about what their fans wanted a long time ago, and decided they'd start telling fans what they should want instead.

So none of those. I think it'll be some kind of cyanide simulator passed off as a fighting game instead.

Startyde • 9 years ago

Another gen of constant SF. *shudder*

If thats your thing then more power to you. Ill be holding out hope for DarkStalkers or CVS3.

sonic429 • 9 years ago

Good luck with either of those. Darkstalkers Resurrection tanked and there's been no mention of CvS this generation outside of a PS2 classic on PSN. Looks like it's gonna be Street Fighter V with 5 different versions over the course of the generation. I know it sucks, but this is Capcom we're talking about.

Everyday Legend • 9 years ago

Darkstalkers Resurrection tanked because they rereleased yet another 90's fighting game as a digital download instead of making and hyping a new game. You know, the thing their fanbase actually wanted. Sounds a lot like their inability / unwillingness to make another proper Megaman game. You know, the thing their fanbase actually wanted.

sonic429 • 9 years ago

Hey some people still want those 90's Capcom fighters. I'm still waiting for ports on Mavel Superheroes vs. Street Fighter, Xmen vs. Street Fighter and Xmen Children of the Atom. Let alone PS1 gems like Rival Schools and Mega Man Legends series. Capcom has quite a few arcade games that never have seen a proper console release, remember the Punisher? Megaman is just the tip of the iceberg.

Everyday Legend • 9 years ago

Almost all of those games have some sort of licensing issues preventing them from seeing rerelease. Darkstalkers is 100% in-house. That's why you can see it in the digital storefronts.

sonic429 • 9 years ago

I thought it would just be the Marvel license. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought once Capcom re acquired the Marvel license they could re release any of their games that used it. They own Megman and Rival Schools, so those wouldn't be an issue.

Capcom's heyday was the 90's, it's a shame so many of their games are stuck in the arcades and dead platforms.

Everyday Legend • 9 years ago

Megaman is one thing, but Rival Schools (Project Justice in particular) has licensing issues due to the music used.

Marvel's license required them to approve every game individually. That's why you saw Marvel Super Heroes and MvC1 in a combo pack, while MvC2 got a rerelease to hype people up for the then-upcoming announcement of MvC3.

It's also why we haven't seen a non-arcade release of their nothing-short-of-stellar Aliens Vs. Predator beat-em-up.

R. Hoffmann • 9 years ago

Good that there are other fighting games upcoming. (MKX,T7, GGX3)

rokNrolenemyNo1 • 9 years ago

At least there is Persona Arena! I haven't played SFIV in years.

AnotherRumpKicker • 9 years ago

CvS is not going to happen. Nobody currently at SNK was around during CVS, Ono mentioned before that they tried to get CVS3 off the ground and quickly found out that literally nobody at SNK knew anyone from capcom or why it would be a good business decision to cross over with another company.

screw_ball • 9 years ago

The state of SNK is depressing now adays, I'd love a new Metal Slug to see what they could do with current technology.

Red Kinikacha • 9 years ago

Metal Slug? Just play Mercenary Kings.

screw_ball • 9 years ago

Not even remotely the same.
Metal Slug looks and plays so much better not to mention the level designs of Mercenary Kings are terrible.

Startyde • 9 years ago

Thats depressing. A CVS3 in 2D ala KoF 13 is kinda my dreamgame atm.

Gajknight • 9 years ago

Can't they team up with Sega and make Streets of Rage 3 instead?
I'd buy that shit before it goes on sale.

shouryuuken • 9 years ago

Streets of Rage 3 was made 20 yrs ago though.

Gajknight • 9 years ago

...
I always forget there was a third one.
Streets of Rage 4 then!

shouryuuken • 9 years ago

Yeah, 3 was good! Considered the black sheep (esp due to the harsh soundtrack), but still a good game with some cool ideas. There have been several "almost" Streets of Rage 4s.. most notable one probably being Fighting Force.
I'd love for a new one though.. make the Arkham Asylum combat system the basis, add multiplayer, team moves, weapons and special moves.. and i think you'd have yourself a pretty sweet game.

Uncle Terror • 9 years ago

Streets of Rage would be great, but this stuff would be juuuuust delec-ticious!

Icedus • 9 years ago

What am I looking at? I need to play this yesterday.

Uncle Terror • 9 years ago

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.
It's cool. And with dinos. So it's like 200% cooler than you could imagine.

Good choice, but could have gone with the king.

shouryuuken • 9 years ago

Dream:

Mega Power Stone. Capcom characters in a Power Stone game with Mega Man as the lead character, featuring the likes of Dante, Ryu, Arthur, Jill, and others... They can add good stones and bad stones.. for example Jill turns into a zombie if she gets the bad stones, and although you are really powerful when you transform, the timer is actually your health going down.

Variable map sizes suited to various game play types like small maps for Arcade (1 on 1) Free for All (4 players), and Pairs (2 v 2), medium for Team (4 v 4), Battle (8 player Free for All), or large maps for Multi team (12 - 16 players) or Mega Battle (12 - 16 players).

Online play or offline with bots. Different modes to make things interesting like maybe a 3 on 1 type of match where only the 1 can get the stones or a capture the flag type mode where you open a chest and a flag comes out that you have to take to your base. If it is dropped, the other team can use attacks and weapons to destroy it so you have to wait for it to spawn in a chest again.

CascadeOfBullets • 9 years ago

Hell yes!

Justin D Coats • 9 years ago

Reality : Street Fighter V: Broken, Slow, and Unfinished Edition.

Floog • 9 years ago

OMG YES GIMMIE NOW.
Power Stone is something that was a huge part of my childhood.

Sephzilla • 9 years ago

I'm ok with more Street Fighter existing, its one of the last things Capcom didn't completely butcher during the last console generation. I just don't want another era of re-releases again. Lets skip the whole Vanilla-Super-Arcade-Ultra bullshit this time, okay Capcom?

Shawn Kelfonne • 9 years ago

Not like they're the only ones who do it. How many versions of BlazBlue are there now?

Sotanaht • 9 years ago

Well they are the Kings.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/...

EdgyDude • 9 years ago

Holy shit, now that image is real wake up call to say the least.

long john • 9 years ago

I'm pretty sure they're unable of doing that, unfortunately.

BobPalindrome • 9 years ago

I'd rather see Capcom vs SNK 3.

Spera01 • 9 years ago

Capcom All Stars please?

Cymen • 9 years ago

How about some new fucking IP? You know, actually innovate the genre which has been stagnating for literally decades?

R. Hoffmann • 9 years ago

More Ono = More shitty promotion videos and photos. Wish that guy to hell.

Alex Heat • 9 years ago

:( But I love Ono's antics! I thought it was nice to have something other than simple press releases and what have you.

R. Hoffmann • 9 years ago

That can be done without putting a funny face up everytime, holding a Blanka figure in the camera and dress like Chun Li or Posion.

Katsuhiro Harada (Tekken) and Ed Boon (MK /Injustice) show how its done better.

Alex Heat • 9 years ago

I always thought Harada and Ono were at their best when they were goofing off together. Harada's a great guy, but it feels like he's got the opposite issue of Ono where he's always looking way too serious.

Elijah Fly • 9 years ago

He comes across as the only person still employed at capcom that seems to actually give a shit in an entire company that has stopped doing so a long time ago.

zombiedsz • 9 years ago

no way can Boon be looked up to here, the guy is a giant troll who teases info with all this stuff they want to do for a game for months on end then drops the game 6 months later (injustice) and his DLC portfolio isn't any better with the multiple season passes

I confess I'm still bitter about him putting scorpion in a DC fighting game

HOW CAN YOU HATE ON ONO MAN, YOU ARE A MONSTER....j/k but not really :P

long john • 9 years ago

So you hate happy people, is that it?
C'mon Bison.
