Never alone for V-day.

Lunapocalypse • 10 years ago

What the fuck. I don't even hear about these DLCs anymore. They just appear and then there's a review on Destructoid.

Darren Nakamura • 10 years ago

They just announced it last week, and we covered it here: http://www.destructoid.com/.... As a heads-up, the fifth (and final--if you can believe that) Headhunter pack will be Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax, which is coming out in April. It's not clear if it will be holiday themed, but it could be April Fools' or Easter if it is.

Lunapocalypse • 10 years ago

Ah balls. I must be slipping up if I've missed an article on Dtoid. Forgive me, Darren.

R. Hoffmann • 10 years ago

Your fault, there was a small preview for this a while ago on dtoid too

R. Hoffmann • 10 years ago

I would still like to see another big add-on about the moon base

Darren Nakamura • 10 years ago

Gearbox/2K have said that they are nearing the technical limits that the last gen systems have as far as content addition goes, so unless Headhunter 5 goes to the moon base, it doesn't sound like we'll be seeing it.

But of course, Gearbox said that a level cap increase couldn't happen due to technical issues, and then subsequently released 22 levels worth, so...

Fwankenstein • 10 years ago

Gearbox has said a lot haven't they.

Jinx 01 • 10 years ago

Yeah, I really want to see that moon base. Wonder how many people realize that it's not actually *on* the moon, but a space station in orbit to always face Pandora? If you look closely it's clearly casting a shadow on the moon
http://cryotank.net/uploads...

C.G • 10 years ago

I always saw it as a space station, not a moon base, it should be obvious it's not actually on the moon by that big ass shadow and what I'm assuming are city lights under it.

Osaka • 10 years ago

I always thought the station was attached to the moon, then came out leaving an H-shaped hole in it's place.

daVB • 10 years ago

"Base, kinda orbiting the moon but actually staying in one place relative to it and somehow maintaining the almost the same view perspective from anywhere on the planet Pandora" would be just too long to say. So, yeah, moon base.

R. Hoffmann • 10 years ago

They could even release it as a stand-alone title of course instead of a Borderlands 3, and totally close the Pandora Chapter and move to a different planet and a new cast of characters in BL3 while BL "Moon Base" could merge the remaining BL1 and the BL2 characters together which would be damn cool... Thats wishthinking from us fans though..i don't know if that idea would be profitable for the developers (and their investors)

kohle36 • 9 years ago

Holy balls. Totally called it. You're like some sort of Streetfighter-themed prophet.

R. Hoffmann • 9 years ago

My coolest prediction was that the next Mortal Kombat game would be a retelling of MK1-3 and they would go back to the roots.

Back in 2009 a year before they showed the first trailer in March 2010.

Shane Saiyan • 10 years ago

But why would they? They have a ready made story direction for a sequel that's been well set up, and the Borderlands name sells, no matter how much people like to hate on Gearbox.

That's not wishful thinking from fans, that's wishful thinking from you. You don't speak for me or anyone else.

Darren Nakamura • 10 years ago

In Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, they made a clear allusion that the Hyperion moon base could be the next destination for the Vault Hunters, although at this point it looks like that might have just been in there to poke at fans who want to see it.

Operative20 • 10 years ago

Will the TellTale episodes count as a sequel or some sort of side story?

R. Hoffmann • 10 years ago

I wrote we because i saw many other comments about wanting a BL2 dlc about the moon base before.

I am one of those who want that = we

Stonedfox • 10 years ago

There could be a mini-game involving launching Loaders onto the planet surface to kill bandits or something. I would like that.

MrClaptrap • 10 years ago

All the time gearbox spends making unnecessary Borderlands 2 DLC probably could have been used to make Aliens Colonial Marines good. I think I tricked myself into believing that they were a good developer at one point in time

ajaxender • 10 years ago

I see this sort of idea put forth by so many people about so many things and I guess I can sort of see where you're coming from, but it doesnt work like that and I see where it goes wrong.

We need to stop thinking of companies as 'a developer'. Gearbox is not 'a' developer. Gearbox is a company consisting of a great many developers, along with artists, designers, managers, sales people, etc etc.

Theres not 1 or 2 guys who are spending all their time on Borderlands 2 DLC instead of on Aliens or whatever other project they *could* be doing. Theres probably just a few working on DLC while many other people are working on things like Aliens, or BL3, or whatever else they get up to.

I very much doubt that the actual developers of Aliens were trying to fuck it up so badly. I strongly suspect that it was a managerial decision to put it out as it was, get what money they could and cut their losses. In any case, it has very little to do with the people working on any aspect of BL2, at least until Aliens or whatever other project is finished and people possible move over.

I see this constantly on the League of Legends forums. People constantly whining that Riot needs to stop wasting time on 'X' and fix 'Y'. Even though its pretty clear that Riot has grown a lot, and theres probably plenty of people working on both 'X' and 'Y'.

DrVanillaPHD • 10 years ago

I saw the word negging and had no idea what it was. Now that I've looked into it, I'm not sure if I should feel like an asshole or smooth as fuck.

socialnorms • 10 years ago

I believe you should save up for your future divorce, alimony, and child support payments. A fleshlight wouldn't hurt either.

Fuck.

Yup! Never saw that promo. You convinced me!

Jinx 01 • 10 years ago

Oh man, I didn't even notice the TBM allusion. Wonder if any skins/heads are allude to them? I loved that there was a Joy Division ("Joy Divide") skin for Gaige. And there are some other great references like the Jem and the Holograms head/skin for Maya.

Never heard of Talk Sick, but I'm positive Dead Lincolns = Dead Kennedys .

Cahuatijo • 10 years ago

Who keeps churning these out? Foxconn?

TheLaughingOwl • 10 years ago

Gearbox is so greedy...if they keep making DLCs they're going to need a third season pass...who the hell buy these?

Jinx 01 • 10 years ago

Nobody is holding a gun to your head making you buy them. To judge DLC I think you need to look at the base game. Is Borderlands 2 a complete experience? Hell yes. It's a freaking huge game.

The DLC is for people who are really into the game, and who want more. If you don't, the base game can be got on sale for like $7.50 sometimes now and is a freaking steal.

The problem is that we are all so obsessive-compulsive that we freak out if we don't own ever little thing- even if it's more than we want and we'll never play or use it. Borderlands 2 is one of the few games I feel has done DLC right, I'm tired of people complaining about it for no good reason. They didn't hold back any of the base game to sell to us later, they've just made a lot of *optional* content because there's a demand for it.

... • 10 years ago

It's also a matter of precedent. A fucking HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE precedent. What do you think companies like EA, Activision, Capcom, Ubisoft... pretty much everyone, think when they see suckers buying up incomplete passes and (likely) multiple GOTYs?

Jinx 01 • 10 years ago

The pass was NOT incomplete. They were very specific about what it would contain when it was announced - four larger expansions which would cost $10 each on their own. So sick of people whining about that.

Darren Nakamura • 10 years ago

I feel the same. They said from the beginning what the Season Pass would include, and they delivered what they promised (well, unless you count that Big Game Hunt was rushed and under quality).

It would have been nice to reward Season Pass holders with more content, but we were by no means entitled to it.

Kaboni • 10 years ago

Thank you for all the common sense Jinx. The ignorance around here is ridiculous.

Thomas Moscato • 10 years ago

Exactly. They even gave the Ultimate Vault Hunter upgrade for free, even though they only promised for campaign DLCs for the season pass. People just feel entitled and love to whine about it.

... • 10 years ago

You know what they weren't clear about? The extra year of DLC they kept doing. I don't believe for a second they didn't already have that in the pipeline. But hey, I'll be the one laughing at you when you're the one whining about how bullshit like this has become the norm.

Stonedfox • 10 years ago

None of those companies need any "ideas" because these "ideas" have existed for a few years now. It's a matter of how much they think they can get away with.

RiffRaff • 10 years ago

The way I see it is that the season pass is Season 1 of DLC. The HeadHunter and Vault Hunters 2 are part of the 2nd season. IMO the GOTY gives more than enough content to make any gamer happy and for the price of these little ones I don't feel ripped off (especially since I've been grabbing them when they're on sale)

Kaboni • 10 years ago

I do.

Why?

Because I got the money and I love Borderlands. Didn't bother getting the season pass either. Why? because I wanted to give Gearbox all the money I can possible give them through their awesome dlc.

So fuck the haters. You guys are too poor. Why? I don't know, probably cause most of you are kids and have shitty jobs or whatever.

TurboKill • 10 years ago

I was with you, but then you lost me at shortly after the beginning of that last sentence.

4/5 stars; still a thumbs up according to the rubric.

Kaboni • 10 years ago

Everyone has the misconception that I troll. Thumbs up and numbers/stars don't matter to me.

I just say it as it is. Nothing but the honest truth. It's the way I am.

Kwerty194 • 10 years ago

"Nothing but the truth"
So you know the age and financial situation of every single person who didn't like the BL2 dlc?

TurboKill • 10 years ago

I don't recall saying you were. (But caring about ratings will behoove you in the real world.) It was just a polite way of saying, "Good job, until you went into huge arse mode."
