Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto!

Awesome video. It really show a clear view of the near future.

We are living in the end times of the capitalist system. The next big thing, the post capitalist, post wage slave, post scarcity world doesn't even have name in public consciousness yet, but it will be here in our lifetimes.

I've taken to calling it the Technological Anarchy because I believe the end of human work, end of scarcity will also end pretty much all central authorities including government as we know it.

Today we are obsessed with our personal place in an economic pyramid scheme called capitalism. In what comes next humans will have to find relevancy in something other than having a bigger pile of cheese than the next guy.

Those will be the people who feed and cloth and educate the whole world. Those will be the people who explore the stars, who colonize the universe. It won't be the capitalist, the really big things will always be too expensive to justify when you need to worry about having the biggest pile.

We can always get a job as a McDonalds cheeseburger, can't we? ~

Please excuse my potentially crude response here Amerika ~ Truth be told, I've got some serious brain damage (Really) thru the blood supply to both frontal lobes being cauterised using glass fibre optics lasers to do the deed ~ Bearing that in mind, and keeping in mind I'd been a bit of a dcik before that was done anyway I'd like to see a real life robot replace a p3nis from the point of view of the guy who had one as well as the woman who wants one ~ Many modern women 'DON'T' want one and that's a given on any day the sun rises in the east and sets in the North West ~
.
However, for the few women still unaffected by rampant pseudo 'ISHTAR' worship as well as a few gay bisexual or transgender males, there's nothing modern science can ever achieve that can ever take the place of a dcik ~ Even modern politics which is often beset by angry frustrated lesbian she-men can't 'REALLY' do without a real world dcik, cause one way or the other, they all wind up eventually acting like one ~
.
BTW ~ I-completely support Hilary Rodham Clinton for 2016 President Elect ~
Hope no-one feels the need to flag this ~ Remember ~ I've got brain damage ;)

If tens of millions of American wage-earners are rendered obsolete by this trend, will landlords conveniently stop charging them rent? Of course not. So what are they supposed to do to survive at that point?

Spend the rest of their lives begging and groveling for "charity," all while listening to right-wing reactionaries blame them for being poor?

I think those are fair questions to ask in light of how much Rand Paul and Ted Cruz supporters demonize both the current social safety net and the universal basic income many have proposed as an alternative to it.

Mr Wiseacre fails to broach the subject of how millions of broke, unemployed humans will be able to buy all the crap that the robots make. Or would there just be robot consumers as well?
Maybe we'd need less humans. But then there's less reason to produce so much.

In the short term that will need to be handled by a Universal Basic Income paid to all citizens. In the longer term money won't exist so people won't care about not having it.

No, the elite will eliminate the 'useless eaters'

That doesn't help them.

They want to stay at the top of an obsolete, failing pyramid scheme called capitalism. In that system they were special because they had everything while others literally starve to death.

They can kill off as many people as they like, but among whoever's left they still won't be special anymore. Their place of privilege is still going away whether there are 500 thousand people in the world or 7 billion.

They will die off from unemployment, depression, alcoholism, drug addiction if you wait long enough. Just keeping paying them benefits until that happens.

And everyone is worried about illegal immigration.

There's nothing to worry about. The only people who are endangered by robots are the rich. As automation brings an end to capitalism it's going to kill money too. So unless you define yourself by your job your bank account you have nothing to worry about.

Also the robots are going to fix illegal immigration too. As that they will be doing the jobs illegal immigrants come here to get those people will likely want to say in they're less advanced countries where unskilled humans can still find work.

Your exactly right, money will become obsolete. Once this is realized we will have to use one final push before money is no longer needed, is to make infrastructure self sufficient and automated.
